Kouta is the deuteragonist in the manga and anime series Elfen Lied. He is the love interest of Kaede, and unlike her, Kouta has no superpowers nor extraordinary skills, but his compassion and kindness may in the end have turned back an evolutionary apocalypse.
Kouta makes his chronological debut in Chapter 32 (or Episode 8), and his actual debut in the first of each.
As a teenager, he is voiced by Chihiro Suzuki in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Adam Conlon in the English version of the anime. As a child, he is voiced by Hitomi Nabatame in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Christine Auten in the English version of the anime.

Kouta is an average looking-young man in his late teenage and early adult years with dark blue irises.
Personality[]
Despite enduring the trauma of losing and witnessing the brutal demise of his father and sister, Kouta exhibits a remarkable capacity for empathy, seen in his attempt to comfort Yuka and his genuine friendship with the troubled girl who would later become known as Lucy. His interactions with Lucy reveal a nuanced understanding of human emotion, as he navigates her complex feelings of love and jealousy with sensitivity, even in the face of tragedy. Regardless of having to resist unimaginable horrors, Kouta retains a sense of hope and a desire for reconciliation, as seen in his willingness to forgive Lucy and his quest for understanding amidst the chaos unfolding around him.
