Kozakura (小桜^?) (first name unknown) is the deuteragonist of the Otherside Picnic franchise.

A misanthropic expert in matters regarding the mysterious dimension known as the Otherside, Kozakura is the former best friend of Satsuki Uruma, who mysteriously disappeared, before Toriko Nishina would be her new partner in her stead, much to her annoyance.

Soon after, Kozakura would assist both Sorawo Kamikoshi and Toriko during their ventures into the Otherside, who chiefly buys off the items the two find, before being traded into an organisation known as the Dark Science Research Encouragement Association (DS Lab for short).

Kozakura is voiced by Rina Hidaka in Japanese, who voiced other characters including Silica/Keiko Ayano in Sword Art Online and Filo in The Rising of the Shield Hero. She is voiced by Sarah Wiedenheft in English, who voiced Phosphophyllite in the Land of the Lustrous, Tohru in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, Ruby Kurosawa from Love Live! Sunshine, and Yuki Kusakabe in Interviews with Monster Girls.

Appearance[]

Kozakura is a small young woman with pale brown eyes and mid-back length white hair. She frequently wears outfits with dark-coloured shorts and an enormous plain white blouse that slides on the left side.

Personality[]

Due to Toriko Nishina's officious demeanour, which often irritates Kozakura, she often talks in a very candid manner. Toriko's behaviour is tolerated by her, and she goes out of her way to investigate the unknown world of the Otherside for her companion Satsuki Uruma, who has gone mysteriously missing prior to the events of the anime.

Because Kozakura's serotonin transport gene is short (she gets afraid quickly, especially actual horror encounters), she avoids travelling to the Otherside as much as possible, leaving the fieldwork to Sorawo Kamikoshi and Toriko. Despite her brusque and rude demeanour toward the duo, she loves for and protects them, occasionally expressing concern when they visit the Otherside.

Kozakura often has zero tolerance for impatience, such as the time when she scolded both Sorawo and Toriko for leaving the AP-1 in front of her home, and even goes so far to threaten them to use it to cut grasses in Shakujii Park and making both of them smoke in front of her.

Background[]

Kozakura lives alone in a posh neighbourhood near Shakujii Park, where she devotes her time to studying the Otherside. Satsuki Uruma introduced her to the Otherside and the DS Lab, a private company (Dark Science Research Encouragement Association). Later, Kozakura became a member of the organisation, exchanging knowledge about the Otherside for money.

Satsuki and Kozakura used to perform cooperative study on the other planet before Satsuki vanished. Despite this, Kozakura refused to leave after a while, claiming that he couldn't manage the situation. When they couldn't get along any longer, Satsuki enlisted Toriko Nishina as her new partner. As Toriko continues her quest for Satsuki, Kozakura continues her investigation in her house, accompanied by Sorawo Kamikoshi. She also purchases the goods that the two obtain from the Otherside and then trades them to DS Lab.

Abilities[]

Firearms: Kozakura has a decent proficiency in using a weapon, particularly a Remington M870 shotgun that Uruma gave to her in the past.

Trivia[]

According to the Junior Edition of the Otherside Picnic light novel, her secret dream is kept secret by her, and she would not tell it to children.
Outside of her duties as an Otherside researcher, Kozakura is a VTuber.
