Kraft is a major supporting character in the adventure anime and manga series Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.
He is a elven monk and a former renowned warrior from the mythical era. He met a fellow elf, Frieren, and her two friend, Stark and Fern, who were stuck in a snow storm before they discovered Kraft's cabin and were invited to refuge there for the time being. He is also said to be much an older elf than Frieren.
He is voiced by Takehito Koyasu (who also voiced Dio Brando from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) in Japanese and by Orion Pitts in English.
Appearance[]
Despite being over ten centuries old, Kraft maintains the appearance of a handsome man with a muscular build, short green olive-colored hair leaned upward. As an elf, he has large long ears. He has sharp brown eyes and thick eyebrows. As a monk, his outfit is a dark olive-colored monk robe with dark yellow linings at his sleeve, a beige scarf around his shoulders, and a silver wing-shaped necklace representing the Goddess of Creation. His shin's are covered with bandages and his leg wear regular brown shoes.
Personality[]
Kraft is an easy-going and energetic man exhibiting a benevolent personality who allowed Frieren and her party to take refuge in his cabin without hesitation due to the colder weather outside, as well as showing no irritation for being called a pervert by Fern only because he saw him working out shirtless. He also generously shared his provisions with his guests. He exhibits a profound commitment to fairness and the sanctity of lives of others, having earned renown for his philanthropic deeds, including the rescue of villages, and even willing to fight bandits when they intend to engage in a fight against Übel, not to save the girl but rather the criminals from her wrath, ironically, once Kraft knew that Übel was a ruthless mage. At a certain juncture in his life, he resolves to dedicate himself to the path of a Monk, serving the Goddess of Creation, driven by a desire for recognition and acknowledgment of his deeds upon life's culmination. Having surpassed Frieren in age, Kraft imparts valuable guidance to her and her companions, offering to venerate her in lieu of the Goddess for those who may not share her faith. In contrast to typical elves, Kraft displays a heightened emotional acuity and a propensity for empathy and social interaction uncommon among his kind.
Unlike Frieren and Serie, or average elves, he exudes a more spirited demeanor, often seen smiling and openly expressing his emotions casually, despite the fact that elves are known to be cold and are virtually emotionless.
Trivia[]
- "Kraft" means "force" or "power" in German.
- Kraft placed 41st in the first official popularity poll for the series.
