Krypto the Superdog is a character from DC Comics and is a member of the Legion of Super-Pets. He is also the main protagonist of the animated series Krypto the Superdog.
Appearance[]
Krypto is a white dog that is sometimes shown wearing a red cape.
History[]
Earth-One[]
Krypto is the family dog to the House of El. Prior to sending his son Kal-El to Earth via rocket, Jor-El decided to test a prototype rocket with Krypto as a passenger. Although the launch was successful, the rocket was knocked off course which caused it to drift in space for years before eventually landing on Earth. Krypto was soon reunited with Kal-El and gained superpowers from the planet's yellow Sun.
New Earth[]
Krypto's New Earth origins are similar to his Earth-One counterpart except that Krypto's rocket would detect a signal from Superman's rocket which bought it to Earth.
Prime Earth[]
In an attempt to save his family from the destruction of Krypton, Jor-El opened a portal to the Phantom Zone for refuge. However, when prisoners within the zone tried to escape, Krypto fought to protect his family and wound up stuck inside the cosmic prison by himself. Years later, Krypto would be reunited with Kal-El inside the Phantom Zone before being bought to Earth where he gained superpowers from the planet's yellow Sun.

- Krypto makes a brief appearance in Superman/Batman: Apocalypse.
- Krypto makes a cameo appearance in Teen Titans Go! To the Movies as one of many superheroes who got their own film.
- Krypto appears in DC League of Super-Pets, as the main protagonist of the movie. He was voiced by Dwayne Johnson, who also played Black Adam in the DCEU, Luke Hobbs in the Fast & Furious films, Mathayus in The Scorpion King, Beck in The Rundown, Hercules in the titular 2014 film, Ray Gaines in San Andreas, Derek Thompson in The Tooth Fairy, Roadblock in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Spencer Gilpin/Dr. Smolder Bravestone in the Jumanji films, Davis Okoye in Rampage, Will Sawyer in Skyscraper, and Frank Wolff in Jungle Cruise. He also voiced Maui in Moana and Captain Chuck T. Baker in Planet 51.
- Krypto appears in Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons.
- Krypto appears in Scooby-Doo! and Krypto, Too!, where he teams up with Scooby Doo.
- Krypto is set to appear in both the upcoming Superman (2025) and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Both films will be in the new DCU (DC Universe) multimedia franchise produced by James Gunn.

- A toy of Krypto appeared in the Batman: The Animated Series episode "Deep Freeze".
- Krypto appears in Superman: The Animated Series, appearing in the episode "The Last Son of Krypton: Part 1".
- A dream world incarnation of Krypto appeared in the Justice League Unlimited episode "For the Man Who Has Everything"
- Krypto lead his own animated series titled Krypto: the Superdog. He was voiced by Samuel Vincent, who also voiced Edd in Ed, Edd n Eddy, Lloyd Garmadon in LEGO Ninjago, and provided Sonic the Hedgehog's singing voice in Sonic Underground.
- A dog based on Krypto appeared in a self-titled episode of Smallville. This version acquired temporary super-strength through Kryptonite-related experiments conducted by LuthorCorp. After being found by Lois Lane and taken to the Kent family's farm, Clark Kent considers naming the dog Krypto because of his cryptic origins, but eventually names the dog Shelby after one of Martha Kent's old dogs.
