Kuki Sanban (codenamed Numbuh 3) is one of the four deuteragonists of the 2002 animated series, Codename: Kids Next Door.
She is a happy-go-lucky, 10-year-old 4th-grader Japanese girl who's in charge of Diversionary Tactics and she's the Medical Specialist of Sector V. She also takes care of the hamsters that power the treehouse. She's the youngest operative, and one of the two female members (alongside Numbuh 5) and the only Asian-American in her sector from the Cartoon Network show, Codename: Kids Next Door.
She is best friends with her love interest, Wallabee Beatles and Abigail Lincoln. As an adult, she becomes the President of the Rainbow Monkey Corporation, the first thing she did when she took over, was tear down a Rainbow Monkey Potty training amusement park, and finally acknowledged their feelings for Wally. Kuki's one of the two most popular characters of the show (alongside Wallabee Beatles), often topping the polls of fans choosing who their favorite KND character is.
She is voiced by Lauren Tom, who also voiced Minh and Connie Souphanousinphone in King of the Hill, Jinx and Gizmo from Teen Titans & Teen Titans Go! in English, and Amy Wong from Futurama and by Ema Kogure in Japanese.
Personality[]
She's a happy-go-lucky, friendly girl who can be dimwitted or a comic relief sometimes. She is lovable and care-free. She has a crush on Numbuh 4, which he reciprocates, even though he cannot confess his feelings towards her. She's also corruptible, when she gets a hold of power, for example, when she gained pyro-kinesis from her house's heated systems, or when she got a hold of Santa's technology, she decided to take all the presents for herself.
She is a fan girl of Rainbow Monkeys. She loves every single Rainbow Monkeys. She took pity for RAMON-4 (the Rainbow Monkey who is thrown away by his creators).
Appearance[]
She has black long hair, a green sweater dress, black tights, green socks, and black and white shoes. Her hands are rarely shown when she's wearing a sweater dress, but when she wears different outfits, they are.
Abilities[]
In battle, she specializes in diversionary tactics.Her role as the Sector V Medical Specialist, and a unique connection to Rainbow Monkeys, allowing her to sense and speak to them.She is also agile, a skilled pilot of her mechanical rabbit Hippy-Hop, and occasionally exhibits unexpected powers like firebending.While she can be dumb she displays surprising intelligence in areas like piloting airplanes, extensive knowledge of Rainbow Monkeys, being a competent medical specialist, and showing strategic skill as a diversionary tactics expert.
- Access to 2x4 Technology weapons and gadgets: Being a Kids Next Door operative, Kuki has access to a lot of 2x4 Technology, created by the organisation itself, all from household objects, wood, duct tape etc.
- Diversionary Tactics: Numbuh 3's primary role is specializing in diversionary tactics, which she performs with her cheerful and chaotic approach.
- Medical Specialist: She is responsible for the medical needs of Sector V and also takes care of the hamsters that power the Treehouse.
- Weapon Proficiency: She can use basic 2x4 weapons, such as the F.R.A.P.P.E. and T.H.U.M.P.E.R..
- Unexpected Intelligence: Despite often seeming unintelligent, Numbuh 3 displays surprising intelligence in areas like piloting airplanes, medical knowledge, and strategic planning.
- Enhanced Agility: Numbuh 3 is highly agile and nimble, able to easily confuse and leap around enemies.
- Enhanced Strengh: she demonstrates through actions like knocking away Numbuhs 4 and 5 with a baseball bat, cracking thick glass with her blows, kicking open double doors, and lifting a frying pan to intercept a distant cinderblock. Her strength is not always consistent but appears when she is angry, especially when defending her beloved Rainbow Monkeys.
- Piloting: She is the pilot of the mechanical rabbit Hippy-Hop, which is equipped with various weapons, though it is often destroyed during missions.
- Markswomanship: She is skilled with various weapons.
- Swordswomanship: She also demonstrates proficiency with swords.
- Hand to Hand Combatant and Karate: is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant and martial artist specializing in karate,using her impressive combat skills to protect children from adult tyranny, despite her typically happy-go-lucky and childish demeanor.
- Pyrokinesis: When extremely angered, Numbuh 3's hair and eyes can ignite, granting her a boost in physical strength and the ability to control fire.
- Animal Communication: She can communicate with various animals, including hamsters and fireflies.
- Rainbow Monkey Connection: Numbuh 3 can sense and communicate with Rainbow Monkeys and often uses her love for them as a diversion.

- Her sensitive nose detects Rainbow Monkeys from far away. She says it’s because she can smell them with her heart
- She also picks out specific rainbow monkeys in Saturn’s rings, which are entirely made of Rainbow Monkeys

Intelligence
- Distracts Stickybeard’s pirates with gumballs
- Tricks Wintergreen by pretending she’s giving up, then pulling down his pants to throw him off-balance
- In the series finale, "Operation: I.N.T.E.R.V.I.E.W.S.", when Numbuh 1 leaves for the Galactic KND, she shows a surprising depth of understanding and maturity regarding his departure, joking with him in a knowing way that shows she is not as oblivious as she seems.

Trivia[]
- In the episode Operation H.O.T.S.T.U.F.F., Numbuh 3 serves as the main antagonist, but wasn't in control of her actions and has no memory what she was doing as she returned to normal.
- Though her father is to blame for this, as he kept the heat OFF in the middle of winter; with icicles on the thermostat. Kuki even complained she had to wear three sweaters when she took a bath.
- Coincidentally, the name: "Sanban" means "3" in Japanese.
- Her name: "Kuki" means "Air" in Japanese.
- In Billy & Mandy’s Big Boogey Adventure, she originally wasn’t going to take Grim’s job. It was originally going to be a beautiful space babe (intended to be voiced by Pamela Anderson).
- Her favorite Rainbow Monkey is an orange one, referencing Wallabee's hoodie, who she has a crush on.
