Kung Lao (Chinese: 空佬) is one of the supporting characters in the 2021 direct-to-DVD animated martial arts film, Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms. He is a Shaolin monk who helps Raiden and Earthrealm warriors to stop Shao Kahn and his forces.
He was voiced by Matthew Yang King, who previous voiced Liu Kang and Fujin in Mortal Kombat 11.
Biography[]
When Kung Lao arrived in Wuxi monastery, alongside with several Shaolin monks, which they gets attacked by numerous monsters of Outworld lead by the emperor Shao Kahn. Shao Kahn, who announcing the greatest conflict on Earthrealm, intended to revenge for Shang Tsung's defeat, but though a new Mortal Kombat tournament was taking place in Outworld. He seemingly fights against the monsters in order to using his hat avoid their violence, and almost being smash. However, Johnny Cage, Stryker, and Jax show up to works with the monks killing off the monsters and finished them. After drives off the forces of Outworld together with Johnny and Jax, Kung Lao later meets Sonya, Liu Kang, and Raiden, who were be worked to stops the Outworld fighters invasion of the Earthrealm.
Have permission to debate, Kung Lao, Sonya, Liu Kang, Raiden, Johnny, Jax, and Stryker formed Earthrealm's opposition, with stand up to Outworld's offense. Following this times, Scorpion managed back to Netherrealm as Shang Tsung's island was already crumble, he was told by Shinnok, who was about the key, makes him to gains in the island, snatch his soul. Shinnok forcing to asked him to enters Earthrealm, open the Temple of Elements then takes the artifact, with having to be defend. Upon his rejection, Scorpion escaped to Earthrealm and telling Raiden for why Shinnok wants to asking him. Raiden accepted it that he soon spell out that the temple actually maintain the Kamidogu, the mystical relics of the realms in case all of them to be reunion, they unlocked the powers of the One Being.
As a mortal, Raiden does not depart Scorpion's soul from the key, making him continued to run off of Earthrealm on the straighten. Scorpion encountering with Cyrax and Sektor, and also fights them. They are prevented by Kuai Liang, a younger brother of Bi-Han and the next Sub-Zero who is occupied to fights with them. During joined the Mortal Kombat tournament, Kung Lao and the rest of Earthrealm warriors entered Kahn's Koliseum, which they are facing the competitors of Shao Kahn, including by Li Mei, Kitana, Kintaro, D'Vorah, Reiko, and Jade. For the result, Johnny is defeated by D'Vorah, Sonya deals with her and Li Mei, Liu Kang fights Jade, and Jax slaying Kintaro with his brutally. As Raiden defeated Kitana and Reiko, Stryker and Kung Lao were facing Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn respectively, which they ended up murdered by them.
