Kuromi (in Japanese: クロミ, Kuromi) is a major character in Sanrio's Hello Kitty franchise.

Since her debut in 2005, Kuromi has become one of the most iconic Sanrio characters since.

She is voiced by Junko Takeuchi in Japanese, and Jenny Yokobori who also voices Yoimiya in Genshin Impact in English.

Appearance

Kuromi is a white rabbit, wearing a black jester's hat with a pink skull on the front and a black "devil" tail in the place of a normal rabbit's tail. Kuromi's appearance also looks similar to that of classic cartoon characters from the 1920s and 1930s. She sometimes wears fuchsia pink skull cherries on her right ear.

Notably, the eyes of the skull on Kuromi's jester's hat will often change to match her actual eyes.

Personality

Although Kuromi has a rowdy free spirit, she is actually quite girly on the inside and has a soft spot for cute and handsome guys. Kuromi enjoys keeping a diary and reading romance novels.

Biography

Onegai My Melody

Kuromi made her debut in the anime Onegai My Melody, where she had a massive hatred towards My Melody due to her making small mistakes that drove Kuromi mad. Kuromi has also stated that Melody has wronged her 6,324 times.

Kuromi reconciles and rekindles her friendship with My Melody in the 2012 short film Onegai My Melody: Yu and Ai.

Hello Kitty and Friends Supercute Adventures

Kuromi still retains the same rowdy free spirit and secretly girly personality in this show, however, she doesn't have much of a hatred against My Melody as she used to, but she does sometimes hold a grudge against her at times.

• Kuromi's birthday is October 31st, which is also Halloween.
• Kuromi's favorite color is black.
• Kuromi's favorite food is pickled onions.
• Her English voice actress, Jenny Yokobori, also voices Cinnamoroll, another Sanrio character.
• Kuromi set aside her differenes with My Melody and rekindled their friendship in Onegai My Melody: Yu and Ai.
• It is revealed in Hello Kitty and Friends Supercute Adventures that Kuromi has a crush on Pochacco.
• Her name contains the kanji for "black" ( 黒 kuro) and and "beautiful" (美 mi).
