We can't just let them attack. Our side's the one with a lot of women and old folks. If we wait for them, we're gonna lose. I say we ambush them first. That's the only way to win.
~ Byeong-su strategizing to Gi-hun's team.

Kwon Byeong-su (Korean: 권병수), also known as Player 047, is a supporting character in the second season of Squid Game. He is a player in the 2024 Squid Game and a prominent member of Team X. He participated in Seong Gi-hun's revolt, his major role is in episode 7.

He was portrayed by Baek Seung-chul.

Personality[]

Byeong-su is portrayed as a brave and trustworthy person and usually stands up for Team X against Team O. He values life over money as he thinks that Team O is heartless and blinded by money. Despite him presumably being in heavy debt, he still chooses not to be blinded by money and fights for what is morally right.

Biography[]

The reason Byeong-su entered the games is unknown. He passed Red Light, Green Light, and in the first vote, he voted "X" to end the games.

In the Six Legged-Pentathlon, he formed a team with Players 308, 073, 328, and 401. After two teams were eliminated, he stood up and screamed that everyone is going to die because of those who voted to continue the games, along with another player from Team X. He played ddakji and survived the second game with his team. He voted to end the games the second time.

He passed Mingle and voted for a third time to end the games once again. The vote ended with a tie, with 50 players voting to continue and 50 players voting to stop. After the third vote, he joins the argument war against Team O

When Byeong-su is using the bathroom, Myung-gi tells everyone that Thanos is threatening him, Team X, and Park Min-su to change the vote. Byeong-su stands up to Myung-gi and states that Thanos is cheating. When Thanos threatens and provokes Myung-gi, he gets angered by this and swings his arm, but Thanos dodges, and he punches Myung-gi. This causes a brawl to break out, and Byeong-su is seen fighting Nam-gyu. During the bathroom fight, Byeong-su is seen wrestling Player 348 while Player 094 grabs him. Byeong-su survived the event.

After the fight, the players return to the dormitory, and Byeong-su says that the members of Team O attacked the players of Team X, so they can win the next vote. Byeong-su gathers the players of Team X around for a headcount and finds out that 2 players have died on their side. He convinces the Team X players to not change their votes and leave the games after the next vote.

A few minutes before lights out, some players and Seong Gi-hun's team on Team X gathered around. "Young-il" suggests attacking the Team O players first, and Byeong-su agrees with him, saying that Team X has lots of women and elderly people, so they would have a disadvantage. Attacking the Team O players would give them a better chance. However, Gi-hun convinces them not to kill, as he believes the Front Man would want the players to fight each other.

After successfully attacking the soldiers, an angered Byeong-su attempts to kill the players from Team O, but Gi-hun stops him. Byeong-su claims that they're inhumane and that they're blinded by money. Gi-hun says that if he kills them, he will be no different from the guards. Byeong-su points his gun away in frustration.

During the revolt, he kills multiple soldiers. He even gives a magazine to a feared Kang Dae-ho, claiming he has to stop shooting the gun recklessly and stop wasting his ammo.

After Gi-hun and Park Jung-bae find their way to the control rooms, "Young-il" brings Byeong-su and Seon Han-nam to the control rooms to kill the managers. While Byeong-su is about to shoot, he gets shot in the back by Young-il, and Han-nam looks back in horror. It was revealed that "Young-il" was the Front Man the whole time, and he kills Han-nam as well.
