Biography[]

Dying Light[]

GRE operative Kyle Crane is dropped into the quarantine zone city of Harran via airplane with a mission requiring him to deal with Kadir Suleiman and secure the file in his possession, which is said to contain information on a flawed vaccine. Upon his arrival he is ambushed and beaten on by a group of Rais' Men before being forced to defend himself, resulting in a group of biters attacking him. Despite this, he is saved by Jade and another runner who brings him to their headquarter called The Tower. After recovering, he meets with one of The Tower's chain of command, a teenager named Rahim who teaches him parkour.

He later arrives at a medical trailer to get shots of antizin from a man called Dr. Zere. After getting his shots, he is requested to set up a number of traps to keep the other runners safe. Unfortunately, The Tower's leader, Brecken was injured which forces Crane to go and get air drops himself. Upon finally reaching the air drop, the G. R. E commands him to burn the antizin. After a lenghty escape and an introduction to the night's terrors, Crane is asked to negotiate a deal with Rais, resulting in him being forced to upgrade several radio towers and collect the debt of a fisherman village. Despite this, Rais only gives him 5 vials before sending him out.

Brecken informs Crane of the antizin air drops no longer coming. He decides to visit Rahim who has plans to destroy "The Nest" with explosives. Crane and Jade go on a mission afterward to steal some antizin, only to find that there was only dynamite which they still decided to steal. While waiting for the plan to destroy "The Nest" to commence, Crane decides to do an errand for Dr. Zere which involves killing a bolter. The results of this mission were positive with Dr. Zere believing that a cure can be found.

He later goes to help Rahim who was trapped in a boxcar while trying to blow up "The Nest". Crane finishes the job before finding Rahim infected. After explaining what had happened, Crane found Dr. Zere's trailer attacked. In an attempt to save the doctor, Crane was knocked out and placed in the arena to fight many zombies, ending with him fighting off a demolisher. Rais proceeds to inform Crane about the G.R.E's plan before ordering an execution on Crane who escapes and severely injures Rais.

While looking for Jade, Crane arrives in sector 0 having escaped an ambush and several infected. After doing some errands for the survivors there and helping out Dr. Camden, Crane finds Jade kidnapped and on the verge of turning with only a vial of antizin and himself also close to turning. Despite his pleas, Jade gives him the vial, resulting in her turning into an infected. After killing her and Tahir, Crane does another errand for the survivors, preventing a bombing by installing a signal amplifier. This is also the time when he cuts all contacts with the G.R.E and decides to meet Dr. Camden.

After gaining some information, Crane discovers Rais planning to escape Harran with Dr. Zere's research. He hunts the tyrant down, escaping many attempts to kill him. It all ends with Crane fighting Rais one last time, resulting in the latter being stabbed in the neck and thrown of a building. Crane decides to bring Dr. Zere's research to Dr. Camden in order to synthesize a cure.

The Following[]

While waiting for Dr. Camden to finish making a cure, Crane decides to investigate claims of a cult with knowledge of a cure located in a place called "The Countryside". He finds that the cult was led by a priestess called "The Mother" who gives her followers blue gas which seems to camouflage everyone from the zombies present. After performing some errands to buy the trust of the cultists, he discovers a number of missiles being activated and arrives at a military base, only to find lots of casualties.

Based on The Mother's dialogue, she explains that the blue gas was actually a serum which slowly transforms anyone into a sentient volatile which in the multiplayer mode is revealed to be called Night Hunters. Crane is given a choice which may affect the ending of the game

Endings[]

If Crane chooses to detonate the warhead, The Mother will lead him there, resulting in the deaths of many. If however he chooses to defy The Mother, then she will attack him, initiating a boss fight. After defeating her, Crane escapes, only to be turned into a Night Hunter upon arriving in Harran.

Dying Light: The Beast[]

Shortly after escaping Harran, he turned into Sentient Volatile due to the result of the Serum but he was subdued and his humanity was restored, However, he was captured by a ruthless biologist named Marius Fischer also known as the Baron and was experimented on for 13 years in a facility located in Castor Wood, Europe as the world descended into apocalypse. One day he managed to escape after Aiden Caldwell breaks out of captivity and rampages through the research facility. He is then contacted by a woman who was enslaved by the Baron to work for him as researcher.

Meeting Olivia, she tells him to gather GSB from the Chimeras to enhance his strength to defeat the Baron and his army. She reveals that Chimeras are powerful monstrosities created by the Baron and their bloods contains GSB, which is a biocatalyst that enhances the DNA performance of a living being. He also comes into contact with a community of survivors in the Town Hall and helps them taking down a Chimera that attacks their place. The leader of the Town Hall, Florence also know as the Sheriff tasks Crane to restore the power supply to the Town Hall as the team she sent to contact Largo, the foreman of the power plan never returns. During this time, Crane also befriends the second-in-command of the Town Hall, an amateurish botanist named Jacob.

Eventually, Florence betrayed him to the Baron when she led the Baron and his soldiers to ambush Crane in the cave. Luckily, Crane fights through the soldiers and frees Caldwell from the captivity, enabling him to escape during the scuffle. Crane goes after Florence for payback and appoints Jacob as the new leader of the Town Hall. Jacob reveals that there are a group experimented test subjects like him called the Exiles who escaped the Baron long time ago but Florence banished them from the group.

He comes into contact with Sven, a member of the group and realizes that the Exiles have telepathy like the Mother as it is revealed that the serum, the Mother forced Kyle to drink back in Harran had been confiscated by the Baron and he used the serum for his experiments to create more Sentient Volatiles. After helping the group setting up radio booster to eavesdrop on the Baron's men communication line, Kyle managed to secure one of the Baron's top scientist, Dr Camilo who had past relationship with the Exiles' leader, Lydia. Dr Camilo tasks Crane to extract DNA samples from Volatiles for experimentation to enhance Sentient Volatiles's telepathic capability, which potentially enabling them to command Biters.

After finishing the tasks, Olivia contacts him and reveals that her father was the one that brought him to the Baron, albeit by accidents. She then reveals that the Baron is attempting to create an army of Sentient Volatiles similar to Kyle Crane due to him being the most successful specimen and the Chimeras are the results of the attempts.

Personality[]

Crane is a very realistic depiction of how a stable, enduring and courageous individual would approach an actual zombie apocalypse. Crane seems to rely on tactics and maneuverability, instead of brute force and unstoppable power; a trope within the zombie genre.

Sense of humor and sarcasm is used a lot in his speech, as well as distressful remarks when under pressure, and will say things that players would possibly say in the same situation, which makes him oddly relate-able. Crane is also up to date with 2014 popular culture, and makes subtle references and allusions.

He is not overly boastful and possibly does not want to be celebrated, as he turned down a famous journalist's request to put him in his credits after returning his lost reports. Though he is competitive, and will not deny his skill if contested by a fellow runner, or even one of Rais' runners.

Trivia[]
