The story of the current Ladybug Miraculous holder, Marinette Dupain-Cheng (aka Ladybug) from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.

Background

Marinette attended Collège Françoise Dupont for three years previously and attended an unnamed elementary school a year before that, all while sharing the same class with Chloé Bourgeois, who constantly bullied her for her own personal satisfaction. At one point, Marinette fell for Le Chien Kim, and was prepared to go steady with him as her new boyfriend, but a mean prank by Chloe that Kim was involved in, led to Marinette falling into the pool, completely embarrassing herself. It not only humiliated her but also traumatized Marinette enough to be more cautious around having a relationship with another boy, wanting to know everything about him before even trying again to go steady with him after what happened with Kim. An older classmate, Socqueline Wang, saved Marinette from further humiliation by Chloe posting what happened on the Internet by destroying the cellphone with the evidence on it and glaring down Chloe, but despite her heroic act to protect Marinette, Chloe used her connections with her father as Mayor to have Principal Denis Damocles suspend Socqueline for the rest of the school year as retaliation. In honor of Socqueline's actions protecting her, Marinette began wearing her hair styled after Socqueline's with the dual pigtails instead of in a bun like before.

Miraculous Shanghai

Marinette remains in Paris as Adrien heads to Shanghai with his father, but later sees an opportunity to go herself when it is discovered that a package for her great-uncle, Wang Cheng, was left behind and won't be delivered in time for his 60th birthday. She makes it to Shanghai and meets her uncle, who takes her to his restaurant, Thousand Delights. However, Marinette later sees Adrien and decides to follow him. Unfortunately, a girl in disguise, Fei, robs Marinette of the Ladybug Miraculous earrings, her Kwagatama, and her purse. When she mistakes several boys chasing Fei as the bad guys and tries to turn into Ladybug, she discovers the theft, much to her distress.

She returns to the Thousand Delights with Adrien, and her uncle attempts to call her cellphone, but Fei discards the SIM card to ensure the phone can't be tracked, before turning everything over to Cash, owner of Cash Antiques, who puts the items on display and traps Tikki in the claw crane game.

Marinette tries to track down her stuff, but gets lost without her cellphone to help guide her, and meets Fei, before trying to flee from the three boys that were chasing Fei earlier. Meanwhile, unable to reach Marinette after trying her cellphone again, Wang decides to call the police.

After having Marinette disguise herself to avoid attention, the two girls attempt to head back to Cash Antiques to get Marinette's things back. Since Marinette hasn't learned Mandarin Chinese, Fei translates for her with trying to ask Cash for the items back. With some clever trickery, Fei replaces the Ladybug Miraculous earrings for fakes while Cash is away, allowing Marinette to reunite with Tikki and become Ladybug again. However, as Fei tries to help Marinette escape, Marinette notices an Akuma heading for Cash, and realizing Fei has been nothing but a liar and troublemaker since meeting her, Marinette tells her off before fleeing to transform into Ladybug in secret. Learning that Cat Noir left her a voicemail as he is in Shanghai as well, the two plan to regroup and deal with Cash, who has become King Cash thanks to the Akuma.

They manage to intercept Hawk Moth and King Cash just as they are about to secure the Prodigious and Fei is trying to fight them off on her own. In the scuffle, Fei gains possession of the Prodigious and meets the Renlings. Confident, she transforms into Ladydragon to aid the French Miraculous Duo. With teamwork, King Cash is de-Akumatized, but Hawk Moth then Akumatizes the spirit guarding the Prodigious, Mei Shi, turning him into Yan Luo Shi, who escapes while vowing to recover the Prodigious.

As Ladybug, Ladydragon, and Cat Noir pursue Yan Luo Shi, Hawk Moth, realizing his folly with having put Adrien in danger, tries to order his Akumatized servant to stand down or have his power revoked, but Yan Luo Shi instead slays Hawk Moth, making him vanish, in anger of trying to order him around. When Yan Luo Shi confronts the heroes and demands the Prodigious back, Ladydragon, feeling she's unworthy of the Prodigious' power, flees in shame. Cat Noir tries to Cataclysm Yan Luo Shi, but meets the same fate as Hawk Moth, to Ladybug's horror, forcing her to flee for her own life.

Turning back into Marinette, she tries to reassure Fei, but when Yan Luo Shi finds them and tries to collapse the ground beneath them, Fei is able to become Ladydragon again, unlock her transformation into a dragon, and save Marinette. Transforming into Ladybug again, and summoning a Chinese vase as her Lucky Charm, she gets an idea, and has Ladydragon send the vase into Yan Luo Shi's mouth with water. Ladybug had been in the vase, and uses the opportunity to destroy the Akumatized object with her yo-yo, restoring Mei Shi to normal, before she purifies the Akuma and uses Miraculous Ladybug to undo all the damage, reviving Hawk Moth and Cat Noir in the process. Impressed by Fei's efforts, Mei Shi allows her to keep the Prodigious before returning to his slumber. A Kwami-like version of Mei Shi joins Fei later as she prepares to take the defeated Cash to the authorities. Later, Ladybug and Cat Noir, as Astrocat and Cosmobug, prepare to head home, or in this case, back to the Thousand Delights to help celebrate Wang's 60th.

While there, Marinette learns some Mandarin from Fei, but botching it, much to her embarrassment, Adrien offers to teach her some when they return home to Paris. Her fumbling over her words in regards to this cause Fei to quip she's having trouble with English as well, before Marinette looks away from Adrien, blushing in panic.

Season 3

In "Reflekdoll", Marinette and the other girls are doing a photoshoot with convincing Adrien to join them after talking Placide I.T. into allowing it, despite his concerns about if Gabriel finds out. However, due to Alya's insistence that Marinette and Adrien do the shoot together to help bolster their relationship, Juleka feels snubbed and thus vulnerable to being Akumatized into Reflekta again by Hawk Moth. Worse, Mayura also creates a Sentimonster for her in the aptly-titled Reflekdoll, allowing Juleka/Reflekta to turn anyone hit by her beams into identical copies of Reflekta. Not even Marinette and Adrien are safe as they too are turned into Reflekta clones, but only physically, as the are still themselves despite the change in their appearances. Having left their Miraculous behind in the car when they went to the shoot in the first place, this proves to be their salvation. As Plagg and Tikki look for Marinette and Adrien, due to them looking like Reflekta now, Plagg encounters Marinette first, and she uses the Black Cat Miraculous to become Lady Noire, reversing her transformation into a Reflekta copy as she becomes the female version of Cat Noir, while Tikki finds Adrien and he becomes Mister Bug, the male version of Ladybug, also reversing his transformation into a Reflekta copy when he becomes Mister Bug. Together, they attempt to face Reflekta and Reflekdoll, but are not used to using the other's Miraculous powers. When Mister Bug summons the Lucky Charm he was thinking of, rather than something at random, Lady Noire calls it beginner's luck, but the Lucky Charm doesn't do much to help them. Lady Noire tries her Cataclysm, but this sends the Reflekdoll into a berserker state, causing Reflekta to beg for help. Though she is rescued, she insults the heroes' outfits, before the object carrying the Akuma is destroyed, allowing Mister Bug to catch and purify it, restoring Juleka to normal, only for her to be turned into Reflekta by the still-rampaging Reflekdoll. Finding the object carrying the Amok, it is destroyed, releasing the Amok for Mister Bug to catch and purify as well, before using his Miraculous Mister Bug to restore everyone turned into Reflekta clones back to normal and repair all the damage to the city. After then retreating to revert back, Adrien has Tikki return to Marinette, while Plagg is allowed by Marinette to return to Adrien, so they get their respective Miraculous back and can become Ladybug and Cat Noir again. Afterwards, the girls convince Placide one more time to allow Adrien into the photoshoot, and this time, ensure Juleka is a part of it and doesn't get snubbed like before.

In "Cat Blanc", when Marinette drops off a gift for Adrien while disguised as Ladybug, she inadvertently reveals to Adrien that she is Ladybug, resulting in where he transforms into Cat Noir in full view of her to save her from being Akumatized by Hawk Moth. Unfortunately, Hawk Moth uses this to lure Ladybug and Cat Noir to him, revealing himself to be Gabriel, Adrien's father, and the pod containing the comatose Emilie, Adrien's mother. Seizing advantage of Adrien's emotional distress from this revelation, Gabriel Akumatizes him into Cat Blanc, unlocking the full powers of Plagg's powers of destruction, but when torn between using his Cataclysm against his girlfriend or father because of the sadistic choice presented to him, Cat Blanc turns his attack on himself, with tragic consequences. The explosion of energy from the Cataclysm kills Marinette/Ladybug, Gabriel/Hawk Moth, Emilie, and essentially everyone on Earth, including the rest of the French Miraculous Superhero Team, threatening to cause the older Bunnyx to cease to exist due to the death of her younger self.

Wishing to avoid this nightmare, Bunnyx summons Ladybug from the past to right this wrong. After being knocked into the flood waters engulfing Paris by Cat Blanc, Ladybug finds the incinerated remains of her future self and Hawk Moth, but upon touching her remains, they crumble into ash, horrifying her at this grim fate that will befall her and everyone else. She attempts to fight Cat Blanc, but his powers are too strong, and when she won't hand over the Ladybug Miraculous so he can try to fix his mistakes, he threatens to use a Mega Cataclysm that could destroy the Milky Way and the whole universe if released.

Faced with that, Ladybug gives up to save the universe, but as she approaches Cat Blanc and tries to kiss him and calls him "Cat Noir", he appears to fight off his Akumatization long enough to point out the bell on his collar is where the Akuma is. Ladybug quickly sees to its demise and purifying the Akuma, restoring Cat Blanc back into Cat Noir, before then taking her leave to return to Bunnyx. Once there, she figures out what would lead to the bad future, and returns to erase her name on the card with the gift she left for Adrien, then lying to him that it was from some fans of his from Brazil, thus saving the older Bunnyx and preventing the dark future she had been to.

In "Ladybug", Marinette is falsely accused by Lila of several things, including pushing her down the stairs, injuring her, and stealing from Lila, forcing Principal Damocles to expel her, much to the shock of many of her classmates and her parents. Gabriel and Nathalie attempt to take advantage of this with using their Scarlet Moth/Catalyst plan again, but as they Akumatize many of Marinette's classmates back into their supervillain personas, and also attempt to Akumatize Marinette and Sabine into the supervillains "Princess Justice" and "Verity Queen", Nathalie collapses from her illness caused by using the Peacock Miraculous while it was damaged, forcing Gabriel to abandon the plan, reverting everyone back to normal. Marinette later learns of how close she almost came to handing the Ladybug Miraculous earrings over to Hawk Moth on a silver platter if she had been Akumatized with her mom and everyone else while talking with Tikki about the incident, and decides to talk to Alya as she is not going to let Hawk Moth, nor Lila, have their way. Later, Nathalie, as Mayura, creates a Sentimonster version of Ladybug to torment Paris to ruin Ladybug's reputation, forcing Marinette and Adrien as Ladybug and Cat Noir to confront it. After a hard-fought battle, they manage to secure the object carrying the Sentimonster Ladybug's Amok, freeing her, but as the three heroes advance on Mayura, she releases the Amok, resulting in the Sentimonster Ladybug's demise, to the real Ladybug and Cat Noir's horror. Before a furious Cat Noir can attack Mayura in retaliation, Hawk Moth arrives to rescue her, leading to a standoff as Ladybug holds Mayura hostage, and Hawk Moth holds Cat Noir hostage. In the end, both sides release their hostages to fall off the Arc de Triumph, forcing Ladybug and Hawk Moth to rescue their respective partners. Ladybug later fixes all the damage with Miraculous Ladybug, but it couldn't bring the Sentimonster Ladybug back, causing her and Cat Noir to realize that using the Peacock Miraculous for evil is ever worse than using the Butterfly Miraculous for the same intention. Later, Adrien forces Lila under threat of ending his friendship with her to use another lie to convince Principal Damocles she framed Marinette for the incident with the stairs and stealing, forgive Marinette, and readmit her to the school. Damocles is convinced and restores Marinette's enrollment, but that doesn't mean Marinette forgives her parents, her classmates, or the school faculty, for falling for Lila's deception, since she knows it can, and will, happen again, and until she can prove Lila has been lying to everyone so they see the truth for themselves and apologize for being deceived, she'll have to endure it until something comes up that will allow Marinette to expose the truth and get Lila caught red-handed in her own lies and deception.

By the season finale, Marinette discovers that Chloe had been working against Team Miraculous and aiding Hawk Moth, despite knowing that her secret identity as Queen Bee would put Chloe and her parents in danger. As punishment, she relieves Chloe of the Bee Miraculous, dismissing her from ever being Queen Bee again. Angered at being kicked out of Team Miraculous, Chloe vows revenge on Ladybug, and takes her bullying of Marinette to even worse levels than before.

Miraculous New York

Marinette and her class under Caline Bustier head to New York City for a Franco-American Friendship Festival. Unfortunately, Caline couldn't join them as she just learned she was pregnant and Olga Mendeleiev takes over as chaperone. During the flight, Marinette is soon introduced to the United Heroez, the protectors of the United States, led by co-leaders Majestia and Knightowl, along with Victory, the current President of the United States, when they arrive to save Marinette's class' aircraft from the wanted American supervillain Techno-Pirate. It is during one of the battles between the United Heroez and Techno-Pirate later, that Marinette becomes Ladybug to help, joined by Cat Noir, as Adrien had also come to NYC with his father Gabriel and bodyguard Placide I.T., and the French Miraculous Duo realize that Techno-Pirate has been Akumatized into Techlonizer by Hawk Moth. However, during the fight with Techlonizer, Cat Noir lets his guard down, and Techlonizer takes advantage to hurtle him towards Ladybug, threatening to kill her with his still-active Cataclysm. Cat Noir critically injures Uncanny Valley when she takes the attack herself to protect Ladybug, alerting Majestia and Knightowl to it. Although Ladybug saves Uncanny with her Miraculous Ladybug, and Majestia thanks her for saving her surrogate daughter, Knightowl is furious at Sparrow for disobeying their orders, and also tells off Ladybug and Cat Noir for interfering, demanding they hand over their Miraculous to the United Heroez. Refusing, Ladybug and Cat Noir flee, despite Knightowl's furious orders to come back, and hide in the sewers, where feeling remorseful for what he did to Uncanny, and learning that Paris has been wrecked by Mayura and one of her sentimonsters in the meantime, with the sentimonster already dispersed, so the damage can't be reversed with Miraculous Ladybug, Cat Noir decides to abandon Ladybug and return to Paris in disgrace, leaving her to fend for herself, renouncing Plagg and the Black Cat Miraculous out of shame in letting her down. Marinette pleas for Adrien to come back when his father Gabriel picks him up and orders him back to the airport to return home, admitting that she loves him, but it is hopeless. It is during a talk between Marinette and Uncanny when Uncanny seeks her out to help stop Techlonizer again that Uncanny records Marinette's confession that she can't by Ladybug without her partner Cat Noir. When Uncanny finds Adrien aboard his flight back to Paris and plays back Marinette's confession, and returns Plagg and the Black Cat Miraculous to him, reinvigorated, he becomes Cat Noir again and returns to NYC to help Ladybug.

In the meantime, Gabriel, as Hawk Moth, has Akumatized Techno-Pirate into Techlonizer again, and when he gets his hands on the American Miraculous of the Eagle, he gives it to Techlonizer, turning him into Miraclonizer, who not only uses the Eagle Miraculous' power of Liberation to free the adult United Heroez of their ethnical beliefs regarding their powers, allowing them to go crazy with them upon being freed of their ethnical restraints, but then manages to acquire Victory's most dangerous weapon due to her position as POTUS: The nuclear football. Using the Statue of Liberty as the launch site for the U.S. nuclear missile he had acquired, Miraclonizer, along with Hawk Moth, threaten to ignite World War III if Ladybug and Cat Noir do not surrender their Miraculous to Hawk Moth. Luckily for Ladybug and Cat Noir, the younger United Heroez, Uncanny and Sparrow, are able to help Ladybug and Cat Noir disarm Miraclonizer of the Eagle Miraculous, which Sparrow recovers to become Eagle, and reverses the effects of Liberation on the adult United Heroez. Once their ethnical restraints are restored, Majestia is able to intercept the nuke after it had already been launched and hurl it into the Sun, preventing WWIII, while Knightowl, Ladybug, Cat Noir, Eagle, and Uncanny manage to de-Akumatize Techno-Pirate and he is arrested and taken into custody by the United Heroez and handed over to the police to be taken to prison. Because of their efforts, Knightowl apologizes for her earlier anger, praising Uncanny and Eagle for their efforts, along with Ladybug and Cat Noir's, with Majestia also thanking Ladybug and Cat Noir for inspiring Uncanny and Eagle, leading to the French Miraculous Duo sharing their trademark "Pound it!" fist-bump with Uncanny and Eagle. The Friendship Festival is able to go ahead as planned, with an ice statue of the French Miraculous Duo and their United Heroez allies in Uncanny and Eagle being made by Snowflake to commemorate them for their heroics. Ladybug also knows that the Eagle Miraculous is in good hands with Sparrow/Eagle. Also, even though she knows Ladybug and Cat Noir's civilian identities as Marinette and Adrien, Uncanny erases the knowledge from her databanks to protect their secret identities.

Season 4

After Master Fu entrusts Marinette with the Miracle Box and dubs her the new Guardian of the Miraculous to protect himself from Hawk Moth, now using the mended Peacock Miraculous alongside the Butterfly Miraculous to become Shadow Moth, Marinette finds herself with a bigger burden in keeping all the Miraculous safe, especially when her classmates have their identities as Miraculous users compromised, violating the cardinal rule of Miraculous users: Never let your enemy know your civilian identity. As a result, when their identities are compromised, threatening to allow Gabriel/Shadow Moth to use their families or friends as hostages to get them to surrender their Miraculous to him, Marinette is forced to take the Miraculous back to protect them, or only loan them to the other members of the French Miraculous Superhero Team until the threat is neutralized, then have them returned to her, thus preventing her and Cat Noir from calling on the likes of Rena Rouge, Carapace, Vesperia, Purple Tigress, King Monkey, Pegasus, Minotaurox, Pigella, Miss Hound, Viperion, Bunnyx, Polymouse, Ryuko, Caprikid, or Rooster Bold to aid them against Shadow Moth's Akumatized supervillains or Amoktized sentimonsters. Alya tried to circumvent this by becoming Rena Furtive to continue to help Ladybug in battle, but when her identity is compromised again after spilling the beans behind Ladybug's back to Carapace, she decides to renounce the Fox Miraculous for good to protect her family, and Nino, and returns it to Marinette. Ladybug's relationship with Cat Noir also deteriorates due to her refusal to tell him anything that would prove valuable to their fight against Shadow Moth, or entrust him with any other Miraculous, still haunted by the dark future she was taken to by Bunnyx in "Cat Blanc", and fearful of Cat Noir being Akumatized by Shadow Moth and turned against her, leading to her death and those of everyone else in Paris, if not the whole world.

In "Gang of Secrets", Marinette is severely stressed due to her new duty as Guardian of the Miracle Box and Luka having recently broken up with her, along with the trauma from the bleak future shown to her by the older Bunnyx in "Cat Blanc". She even intends to become Ladybug full-time and abandon her normal life as Marinette to try and draw out Shadow Moth. Only convincing by the other Kwamis convinces her to revert to allow Tikki a chance to recuperate. When Alya, Mylene, Alix, Juleka, and Rose come into her room and nearly find the Miracle Box where Marinette hid it in her dollhouse, Marinette, in a moment of blind anger from her stressed state, orders them to get out of her room, leaving them deeply upset and heartbroken. Shadow Moth uses this to his advantage to Akumatize the girls back into their supervillain forms of Lady Wi-Fi, Horrificator, Timebreaker, Reflekta, and Princess Fragrance as the Gang of Secrets to hunt down Marinette. Realizing her error, while Marinette, as Ladybug, isolates Lady Wi-Fi from the rest of the group, Cat Noir keeps the others busy and distracted. Ladybug attempts to reason with Alya, pleading that she needs Rena Rouge's help and to fight off her Akumatization, and through sheer willpower, Alya is able to break Shadow Moth's link with her and restore herself to normal, banishing Lady Wi-Fi for good. Grateful to Ladybug for helping her break free of her Akumatized self, Alya is granted the Fox Miraculous to become Rena Rouge again and help Ladybug and Cat Noir isolate Timebreaker and destroy the friendship bracelet that contained the Akuma, allowing Ladybug to purify it and fix the damage with Miraculous Ladybug, while restoring Alix, Rose, Mylene, and Juleka to normal. Back at her house, Marinette apologizes to the girls for her earlier outburst, and they forgive her, but after the other girls leave, Marinette has Alya stay, and reveals that she is Ladybug to her. Understanding Marinette's situation, Alya accepts her BFF's double life, and the two share a hug as Alya promises to keep Marinette's double life as Ladybug a secret from everyone.

In "Mr. Pigeon 72", wearing a towel wrapped over her hair like a laboratory hat or turban and her bathrobe as a lab coat, Marinette, as Ladybug, is trying to experiment with what she knows from the Miraculous Grimoire in an attempt to find some way to prevent Shadow Moth from Akumatizing anyone again, but her efforts backfire with explosive results, worrying her parents downstairs. After finally being convinced to revert back and go join Kagami, Marinette meets up with her and takes her to the pool, attempting to get Kagami and Adrien to hook up again. While Marinette is confronted by Kagami for several things she keeps in her duffel bag, such as an umbrella and a perfectly-folded ballgown in a plastic bag, she soon finds the swimsuits and they go to change. They come out just as Adrien botches the take for an ad for his father Gabriel, angering the director, Bob Roth, who blames Mr. Ramier and his pigeons for what happened. Marinette and Kagami then disrupt the next attempt for the take, causing Adrien to wonder what they are doing there when his bodyguard, Placide I.T., was guarding the entrance so the pool was off-limits during the filming. After Marinette apologizes for her and Kagami's intrusion, they depart, but in the meantime, Gabriel uses the situation to his advantage, and once more Akumatizes Mr. Ramier into Mr. Pigeon for the 72nd time, giving him the power to turn people into pigeons. Marinette still pleads with Kagami to hook up with Adrien again, but as Kagami is about to tell Marinette off, Kagami falls victim to Mr. Pigeon. Shocked, Marinette flees to the changing rooms to become Ladybug, but watches helplessly with Plagg when Adrien is turn into a pigeon as well, horrifying them. Without Cat Noir to help her, Ladybug is trapped. Thinking fast, she calls Alya and has her retrieve the Fox Miraculous and become Rena Rouge. Rena creates illusions of Cat Noir and Ladybug with Mirage to lure Mr. Pigeon to the pool. Once there, he's duped into jumping into the pool, allowing Plagg to steal his Akumatized bird whistle and deliver it to Ladybug, allowing her to destroy it, purify the Akuma, and then restore everyone to normal with Miraculous Ladybug, including Adrien. De-Akumatized, Mr. Ramier feels horrible that he got Akumatized again, but as Ladybug tries to comfort him and assure him that she wished she knew some way to prevent it happening ever again, it is then that Rena Rouge arrives with information from the Miraculous Grimoire she discovered, and telling Ladybug that her Miraculous has the power to create something to help protect people from being Akumatized, encouraged by Rena, Ladybug is able to transform her suit, and also create a Magical Charm for Mr. Ramier, thus protecting him from ever being Akumatized again. Mr. Ramier leaves, grateful to Ladybug for ensuring he doesn't become Mr. Pigeon ever again, and Ladybug and Rena share their "Pound It!" fist bump. Later, as Tomoe's car Tatsu arrives to pick up a restored Kagami, she admits to Marinette that she believes that Adrien and Marinette are meant for each other instead of Kagami and Adrien. Adrien then emerges to see that Marinette is using his umbrella that he gave her previously. She initially was going to give it back, but he tells her to keep it as Placide arrives to take him home, and he'll see Marinette tomorrow for school. Kagami watches with a smile on her face before telling Tatsu to take her home. Once everyone is gone, Tikki speaks to Marinette, asking if she's alright. Marinette simply remembers the advice Alya told her earlier and seems content for the moment.

In "Wishmaker", Marinette is giving out questionnaires to her classmates in Miss Bustier's class in regards to their study options after school. This is due to the Paris Career Expo happening soon, and Principal Damocles wants the kids ready for it. Later at the Expo, Marinette rejoins Luka, but they are just friends now, not in a relationship anymore. In the meantime, local TV show host Alec Cataldi is trying to find some interesting footage for his show, but is coming up empty-handed. Marinette and Luka meet up with Adrien, but it is clear that both Marinette and Adrien are drawing blanks at the moment on what they would like to try. Luka offers them some advice to try and help them out, then plays his violin to help. However, in the meantime, Alec becomes despondent after remembering a traumatic memory from his younger years. Shadow Moth takes notice of this and Akumatizes him into Wishmaker, so his powers can make anyone hit by his wishing stars have their childhood dreams come true. Seeing what's happening, Marinette and Adrien hide to transform into Ladybug and Cat Noir to fight Wishmaker. However, knowing his powers could expose their secret identities, Ladybug recruits Luka and has him become Viperion again to set his Second Chance so, if Ladybug or Cat Noir are exposed by Wishmaker, Viperion can reset to before it happened to protect them. During the fight, Viperion deflects one of Wishmaker's attacks, but it hits Ladybug by accident, causing her to revert back to Marinette as she lives out her childhood dream of being a magical knitting fairy in real life, thus exposing her identity to Shadow Moth. Horrified, Viperion quickly uses Second Chance to reset, so only he knows the truth. On the second go-around, Cat Noir ends up being hit by Wishmaker after being demoralized by him and letting himself be hit and reverted back to Adrien, exposing his identity to Shadow Moth. Again, horrified by seeing this, Viperion uses Second Chance again to reset so only he knows the truth, and on the third attempt, his warning to Ladybug allows her to use the civilian she was talking to as a human shield to protect herself, so he ends up being affected, allowing him to subdue Wishmaker long enough for Cat Noir to destroy his Akumatized object, Ladybug to purify the Akuma, undo the damage with Miraculous Ladybug, and then give Alec a Magical Charm to protect him from being Akumatized again. Thanks to Ladybug and Cat Noir, Alec dedicates his new show to helping people achieve their dreams, and thanks the Miraculous Duo before they have to retreat before their Miraculous time out and they revert back. Luka returns the Snake Miraculous to Ladybug, but when she asks about what happened with Wishmaker, he lies to her that her and Cat Noir's secrets are safe, despite how, thanks to Second Chance, he still knew they were Marinette and Adrien. Back home after the expo, Marinette decides to do all her careers at once: She'll be Ladybug, design jewelry, clothes, furniture, space rockets, be Luka's best friend and love Adrien. She then settles down to watch Alec's new show on her computer.

In "Qilin", Marinette and her mother, Sabine, are planning a luncheon together. However, while Marinette is summoned to deal with a threat as Ladybug, Sabine heads to College Francois Dupont to teach an art class, despite it being a Saturday. After the class, she and Marinette board the bus, but when Marinette gets off at one stop to grab a Mother's Day gift for Sabine, the bus leaves without her. A racist ticket inspector accuses Sabine of not having a bus ticket, despite her explanation that Marinette has it, fines her 50 Euros, and at the next stop, has Roger and a couple of Gendarme waiting to arrest her. Despite Sabine and Roger being good friends, Roger is pressured by the ticket inspector to arrest her, causing Sabine to become so frustrated, it makes her vulnerable for Shadow Moth to turn her into the supervillain Qilin to unleash her fury on the police and Gendarme for her unjustly arrest. Once Ladybug and Cat Noir manage to calm her down and get her to renounce the Akuma, much to Shadow Moth's anger, Ladybug convinces the ticket inspector and Roger to wait for Marinette. Despite the ticket inspector's complaints, Roger follows Ladybug's advice this time and waits for Marinette. When she shows up and shows the tickets to the inspector, realizing they're legit, the inspector begrudgingly apologizes for his behavior and drops any further actions against Sabine, and Marinette agrees to pay her mom's fine, but has to ask her mom to borrow the money anyway.

In "Dearest Family", Shadow Moth manages to increase his powers to where he could now make Megakumas, which could bypass Ladybug's Magical Charms and still turn the users into supervillains to serve Shadow Moth. To test out his new power, Shadow Moth turns Marinette's father Tom, mother Sabine, and paternal grandparents Rolland and Gina into their supervillain forms again to unleash chaos on Paris. Marinette also had to deal with Tikki going crazy for a new sweet that the bakery had developed, the galette, and not even becoming Ladybug prevented this as Ladybug became consumed by the same crazed hunger for Tikki's new favorite food. As Ladybug now had to deal with both Tikki's insatiable hunger for galettes and the combined forces of Weredad, Qilin, Bakerix, and Befana, she was in quite a predicament. While Cat Noir tries to fight the supervillains, Marinette reverts back, but Tikki is now so crazed and psycho for galettes that she takes off, leaving Marinette to fend for herself when her family find her and capture her, but she is able to slip away while they quarrel amongst themselves. Upon finding Tikki, Tikki has become so obsessed with galettes that she uses her Lucky Charm to create a giant one over Paris, threatening to crush the city. Cat Noir manages to destroy it with Cataclysm as Astrocat, and Marinette confronts Tikki over her obsession. Apologizing for her behavior, Tikki was worried that Marinette would think less of her because of her cravings. Marinette assures her that she would never do such a thing and they can help Tikki overcome her cravings together. Moved by Marinette's faith in her, Tikki agrees to work with Marinette again, and they transform once more into Ladybug to help Cat Noir against the transformed Dupain-Chengs. Figuring that the object containing the Akuma is back at the bakery, the Miraculous Duo return there and find the infected galette, and Ladybug struggles to avoid eating it because of Tikki's cravings. Thankfully, she passes it to Cat Noir, who destroys it with Cataclysm, revealing the Megakuma, much to their shock, and Ladybug sees to purifying it, restoring the Dupain-Chengs to normal, before undoing the damage with Miraculous Ladybug. Afterwards, she gives Tom, Sabine, Rolland, and Gina new Magical Charms, despite how they might not protect them from being turned into supervillains again by Shadow Moth, and after turning back into Marinette, she shares some of the galette with the Kwamis, and assures them that Tikki is controlling herself much better now. Marinette then goes to see her family, and accepts the motorbike Gina got for her, but asks for an electric mini-scooter for now, and she can use the motorbike when she's older, leading to her family arguing again, before she mounts the motorbike and takes off, to Gina's happiness and the shock of Tom, Sabine, and Rolland.

Near the end of season, in the season finale, "Shadow Moth's Final Attack", Marinette is tricked by Adrien's cousin, Felix, into giving him the Dog Miraculous to help combat both the Akumatized villain Risk and the powerful Sentimonster Strikeback while disguised as his cousin Adrien. This comes as she is affected by Risk, after Shadow Moth realized she never takes risks and decides to use that against her. Using its powers, he's able to tap Ladybug's yo-yo with the Dog Miraculous' ball, granting him access to the Miracle Box and all the collected Miraculous artifacts within, but only after they've restored Risk to normal and Ladybug, as Pennybug, a combination of unifying the Ladybug, Horse, and Rabbit Miraculous, has banished Strikeback into the Sun to ensure it won't threaten Paris ever again. However, all of Ladybug's fellow Miraculous users, sans Cat Noir, have their civilian identities compromised, forcing them to be relieved of duty for their own protection, and had been overpowered by the time she returned to help them after figuring out what Risk's infected object was in the past so they could retrieve it in the present and deal with the Megakuma. Striking up a deal with his uncle, Felix offers him all of the Miraculous in the box, and the Dog Miraculous, in return for the mended Peacock Miraculous. Despite suspecting a catch, Gabriel agrees, and Felix captures the Miraculous using Fetch, along with their Kwamis, leaving Gabriel laughing madly in victory as he lays claim to them. By the time Marinette reverts back and transforms into Ladybug again to retrieve her yo-yo after Adrien reveals the deception regarding him and his cousin, and she realizes she took a huge risk and it backfired, she is too late to save the rest of the Miraculous. After Felix surrenders the Dog Miraculous and leaves with the Peacock Miraculous, upholding his end of the deal he made with his uncle, with sixteen of the Miraculous now in his possession, and only missing the Peacock, Ladybug, and Black Cat Miraculous now, Gabriel, redubbing himself Monarch in place of his original identity as Hawk Moth, announces to all of Paris that he will continue to torment and threaten the city with his new powers until Ladybug and Cat Noir surrender to him and hand over the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous. Horrified that she played right into Monarch's hands, Ladybug collapses in despair and cries. Despite her demoralized and hopeless state at losing the Miraculous to Monarch, Ladybug is encouraged by Cat Noir and the people of Paris to continue her fight to protect them from Monarch as they all support her, restoring her morale and fighting spirit.

Season 5

As her fight with Monarch continues, despite it being only her and Cat Noir again like it was at the start of their battles with Monarch as Hawk Moth, in "Evolution", Marinette soon manages to recover the Rabbit Miraculous from Monarch after he foregoes using it to repair the Peacock Miraculous in the past to help Emilie and Nathalie to seek vengeance on her and Cat Noir instead, resulting in Nathalie in the present calling him out on his lust for power over love for his wife and son and abandoning him, while he refuses to own up to his own mistakes and blames Ladybug for what happened, leaving him seething in rage, screaming Ladybug's name in anguish. To do so, when Ladybug and Cat Noir are called to the older Bunnyx's Burrow to see what Monarch is planning to do in the past, he ambushes them and immobilizes the future Bunnyx with Venom. However, Cat Noir takes the Rabbit Miraculous from her to become Rabbit Noir to protect it. Heading back to Paris during its occupation by the Nazis during World War II to get the Dog Miraculous from the past Master Fu, they have the younger Alix from the present time use it to become Canigirl, and with her help, they lure Monarch with a Miracle Box Lucky Charm as a decoy to ambush him in the Burrow, allowing Canigirl to get the Rabbit Miraculous from him, and quickly escape before he can get it back. To ensure that the Rabbit Miraculous does not fall into evil hands again, Ladybug entrusts it to Alix, who supported by her father Alim, who knew about her destiny to become Bunnyx thanks to postcards from her older self from all over the time stream, is forced to enter the time stream to ensure the Miraculous is safe, and the timeline is not altered in any way that would benefit Monarch, joining her older self as they travel the time stream together. Her older self sees to dragging Monarch back to the present so he doesn't try to alter the past as a last resort after losing one of the most powerful and vital Miraculous known to humanity. Once Monarch was defeated, Alix would be free to return to the present with the Rabbit Miraculous safe from his threat.

In "Destruction", Marinette is later horrified to find Monarch in her own bedroom, having apparently been told by the Kwamis where to find her, or at least the Guardian of the Miraculous. Luckily, having anticipated this, she is able to lure Monarch on a scavenger hunt leading to his capture by Ladybug and Cat Noir. As Ladybug prepares to take back the Kwamis, Monarch, in a desperate move to keep possession of them, does the unthinkable, and forces Cat Noir to use Cataclysm on Monarch himself, leaving him with a scar on his arm that would slowly spread across his body and kill him. Worse, Ladybug could not undo it with Miraculous Ladybug as Monarch stole the Lucky Charm she needed to perform it, thus dooming the enemy to a slow, agonizing, painful death. Also, to prevent losing the remaining Miraculous he still possessed after that close call with Ladybug and Cat Noir, he melts down the other ones to recraft them into rings so he can use the Kwamis' powers when he sees fit, while maintaining his alliance with Kagami's mother, Tomoe Tsurugi, and imprisons the Kwamis to use whenever he has use for their powers for his next plan, including transferring them into the Alliance Rings of his victims he turns into Akumatized supervillains so they can use the Miraculous powers themselves, making them even more dangerous.

In "Jubilation", after seeing Principal Damocles and Socqualine trying to be heroes as The Owl and Ladybug, Marinette tries to talk Socqualine into stopping cosplaying Ladybug, but in the process, hurts Damocles' feelings. This allows Monarch to Akumatize him again into a stronger version of Dark Owl known as Darker Owl, empowering him through his Alliance Ring with the Pig Miraculous' power of Gift/Jubilation. He kidnaps Socqualine after believing she's Ladybug, but when he finds she's not, he manages to get Ladybug and Cat Noir together to where he hits both with Gift, causing them to be trapped in their deepest desires, including defeating Monarch, retrieving the Miraculous, and then deciding to tie the knot, get married, and have kids, with the rest of the restored French Miraculous Superhero Team, the United Heroez, and Ladydragon attending the wedding. However, Ladybug's Lucky Charm, an alarm clock, keeps disrupting the dream, until Ladybug finally realizes the truth, and is able to snap herself and Cat Noir out of it. Furious, Cat Noir attacks Darker Owl in a blind fury, but restrains himself from killing him with Cataclysm with Ladybug's intervention, and destroys the Akumatized object, freeing the Megakuma for Ladybug to purify before repairing the damage with Miraculous Ladybug, restoring Damocles to normal. Ladybug entrusts Damocles with a Magical Charm to protect him, before speaking to Socqualine as Marinette to tell her to help her without putting herself in danger by cosplaying Ladybug, and Socqualine accepts, apologizing for her actions and thanking Marinette for the advice. Back home, Marinette is given an Alliance Ring by Sabine, but realizing that this could put her at risk of Monarch learning she's Ladybug, she refuses to wear it. When she meets up with Cat Noir later to discuss what happened while under the effects of Jubilation, they both wonder if what they were seeing was truly possible, or just a weird dream because of Monarch's manipulation of the Pig Miraculous' power.

In "Determination", with the loss of the Miraculous except for Ladybug and Cat Noir's, to try and help restore hope to the people of Paris, Grevin Museum curator Veronique prepares to open a new exhibit with wax figurines of the French Miraculous Superhero Team to replace the ones of their Akumatized selves that were there before with the wax statues of Ladybug and Cat Noir, seen in "The Puppeteer 2". However, Chloe, learning that Queen Bee was not among the figurines and Vesperia was, once more uses her father's influence as mayor to tell Veronique that the Hall of Heroes is not to open. If she disobeys, he will close down the wax museum for a hygiene violation, blackmailing her into keeping the figurines of Team Miraculous, sans Ladybug and Cat Noir, in storage. Monarch takes advantage of Veronique's despair and heartbreak and Akumatizes her into Manipula, using her brochures to bring the wax figurines of Team Miraculous to life to help her bring hope to Paris. When confronted by the real Ladybug and Cat Noir, she has the wax figurines of Team Miraculous split up to keep them busy while she takes the wax figurines of Ladybug, Cat Noir, and Minotaurox to City Hall to confront Mayor Bourgeois and Chloe, threatening to destroy City Hall with Cataclysm if Andre does not revoke his decision and allow the Hall of Heroes to open. When Ladybug and Cat Noir arrive, they are forced to fight their own wax figurines before confronting Manipula, especially after Chloe nearly breaks Ladybug's spirit by blaming her for this happening because she kicked Chloe off the team and it wouldn't have happened if Queen Bee was still there instead of Vesperia. However, Cat Noir is restrained by the wax figurine of Minotaurox, while Ladybug is pinned down by Manipula. Only through Cat Noir's encouragement does Ladybug find a way to use her Lucky Charm to take down Manipula, elbowing her hard enough to force Manipula to let Ladybug go as she recoils from the pain, before being knocked out cold and senseless by the chandelier falling on her, allowing Ladybug to recover the rest of the Megakuma and purify it before undoing the damage with Miraculous Ladybug and restoring the wax figurines back to their original places in the museum, unharmed, intact, and inanimate again. Ladybug then gives Veronique a Magical Charm to protect her from further attempts to turn her into a supervillain again, and convinces Mayor Bourgeois to agree to open the Hall of Heroes, much to Chloe's silent fury at not getting her way again.

In "Derision", as Marinette deals with her panic attacks that resulted from Chloe's prank with Kim that ruined her love life and made her the girl she is now, Monarch attempts to Akumatize her using her panic as the emotion to trigger the transformation, but Marinette is able to make peace with the trauma that triggered her panic attacks and finally overcome them, ruining the chance to Akumatize her. Kim ends up being Akumatized instead, and after he's restored to normal by Ladybug and Cat Noir, he's called out on the prank and how much of a jerk he's been, causing him to have an epiphany and apologize to Marinette, who forgives him. On the other hand, when Adrien confronts Chloe over it, she derisively refuses to apologize to Marinette, seeing her social status beneath her own and worthy of Chloe's bullying, believing she doesn't need to apologize for anything she's done to Marinette over the last several years. Furious with her attitude and lack of empathy, Adrien tells Chloe their friendship is over and storms away in disgust.

Gabriel only accelerates the Cataclysm's effects on his body when he attempts to take control of Tomoe's new prototype space jet to Akumatize its A.I., A.D.A., into Bugfighter, while also threatening Paris with a large asteroid, forcing Marinette and Adrien as Cosmobug and Astrocat to try and stop both, and every time his plan is about to backfire in some way by either Ladybug or Cat Noir being able to come to the other's aid, or A.D.A. figuring out it had been duped and renouncing the Megakuma, Gabriel/Monarch uses Second Chance to try again, until his accelerated Cataclysm injury affects his heart so badly, he collapses before he can even start his plan again from the very beginning, forcing him to give up once he realizes he's only wasted what little time he has left and is closer to death then he ever was before.

In "Emotion", Marinette later goes to Gabriel's Diamonds Dance and discovers that the Adrien she's with at it is really his cousin, Felix, who was there to take revenge on Gabriel and Tomoe for controlling Adrien and Kagami's lives, especially after his mother, Amelie, came in to confront her brother-in-law, only to be escorted out when Gabriel refused to answer her questions. Felix, now using the mended Peacock Miraculous to become Argos, summons the Red Moon sentimonster to banish everyone in Paris, save for him, Adrien, Marinette, and Kagami, so they would be free from any control over their lives from parents like Kagami's mother, Tomoe, or Gabriel, declaring that he is freeing himself, Amelie, and Adrien from Gabriel pushing them around with them unable to stand up to him. To help him realize his mistake, Marinette becomes Ladybug and confronts him, and getting no Lucky Charm this time, gambles that by letting herself be banished with the rest of Paris, Argos/Felix would have to undo his actions upon discovering Marinette's disappearance and believing he got rid of her by accident. Thus, she resigns herself to her fate and accepts it as Argos poofs her away like everyone else. Her plan works as, when Kagami and Adrien angrily confront Argos over what he did, when he shows them where he put Marinette, she's gone, and any attempt to bring her back proves futile, horrifying Argos over how his powers are not working to undo the damage, and infuriating Adrien as he demands Argos reverse his actions and bring back everyone in Paris immediately. Remorseful and ashamed for his actions that were fueled by his anger, Argos undoes his actions for Adrien and Kagami's sakes, and once back, Ladybug turns back into Marinette and reunites with Kagami and Adrien, who are relieved she's alright, while Argos retreats in shame and guilt. Guilt-ridden, Argos later releases Red Moon after apologizing to it, breaks down in grief, and cries, ashamed of what he had done in his anger towards his uncle, Gabriel. He later retreats back home to reunite with Amelie, who promises to keep his identity a secret.

In "Confrontation", Chloe later works with Lila on their most deceitful plan to get Marinette wrongfully expelled from school by forging the career forms their classmates were filling out for their future careers or education paths. However, Sabrina, livid at how underhanded that was, tries to refuse to play a part in it, but Chloe and Lila force her into it. Unknown to them, Sabrina was actually working with Marinette on a plan to expose Chloe and Lila, along with their scheme, and get them punished. Before that happens, Juleka becomes so distraught over her falsified career form that Monarch uses it to Akumatize her into Reflekta again. Nevertheless, Ladybug and Cat Noir are able to restore her to normal and offer her some encouragement to lift her spirits. As for the trap Marinette and Sabrina set up to expose Lila and Chloe, it works, and the rest of Marinette's classmates and the school faculty finally know the truth about Lila and her deception and lies, but Principal Damocles resigns when Chloe once more flaunts her father's mayoral authority against him and he actually stands up to her and defies Mayor Bourgeois' orders, supported by the class, which protects him from being Akumatized again when his Magical Charm deflects and purifies the Megakuma, to the fury of Gabriel/Monarch. Thanks to Chloe, and Audrey, Mayor Bourgeois is forced to fire Damocles for defying him, but the rest of the school applaud the now ex-principal for making the right choice and letting them resubmit their career forms. Lila leaves the school under her own volition, while Miss Bustier warns Chloe she is going to be under special supervision from here on out as punishment for her and Lila's actions against Marinette and the other students.

After the new principal, Olga Mendeleiev, takes office, Chloe is able to get Marinette expelled days before the end of the school year and Caline Bustier fired via lying that Caline is blackmailing students and Marinette assaulted her, which puts a lot of stress on the pregnant teacher, but unable to defy Mayor Bourgeois' orders like Damocles did, knowing she'd be fired by him as well, Mendeleiev has no choice but to dismiss Caline from her duties and dismiss Marinette from school, just as Chloe wanted. However, Andre is starting to regret his actions with everything he's done just to make Chloe and Audrey happy. His latest decision regarding replacing the Parisian police force with Tomoe Tsurugi's police robots when meeting with her and Gabriel is a defiant refusal to fire Roger and the rest of his lawmen for the automatons. Chloe storming in to complain to her father is met with refusal as well, as he had no intention of having Caline sent to prison, or have Marinette and the rest of her class repeat their grade, but is also told that Adrien is moving to London next year by Gabriel, surprising him. Even Chloe's accusations that if it wasn't for Ladybug and Cat Noir keeping the peace, Monarch would be Mayor of Paris already is met by Andre arguing that Ladybug and Cat Noir are wonderful and everyone loves them. After a heartfelt talk with Gabriel, Mayor Bourgeois still refuses to install Tomoe's robots as the police force, and knows he's failed his duties as Mayor because all his actions were underhanded as he's lied, cheated, and abused his authority just to make Audrey and Chloe happy, and they still treat him like dirt. Unknown to him, Gabriel and Cerise have recorded his entire confession, and Gabriel edits it before releasing it to the public to make him seem even worse than he is. Enraged, Caline is thus vulnerable to being turned into Miss Sans-Culotte, supplied with the Pig Miraculous power of Gift/Jubilation, and when Mayor Bourgeois is confronted in his office by Miss Sans-Culotte, followed by Ladybug, Cat Noir, and Zoe, he announces that he is reinstating Caline to her teacher position and reversing Marinette's expulsion as his final atonement before resigning in disgrace, thus causing Caline to renounce the Megakuma and return to normal, and Ladybug fixes the damage with Miraculous Ladybug. Moments after ex-Mayor Bourgeois leaves with Zoe, Chloe storms in with the paparazzi and Tomoe's police robots to confront Ladybug and Cat Noir, who had been following Miss Sans-Culotte, blaming them for forcing her father to resign, causing them to retreat while they still had the chance upon being outmatched and outnumbered by the police robots.

In "Revolution", with Andre having resigned in disgrace as Mayor out of sheer guilt for everything he did under Chloe and Audrey's encouragement just to make them happy while making the people of Paris, especially at Marinette's school, miserable, Chloe takes over as Interim Mayor, labeling Monarch, Ladybug, and Cat Noir, and any Miraculous users, as outlaws, before striking a deal with Monarch behind everyone's backs to become Akumatized as Queen Mayor to use the Miraculous powers provided by Monarch, mainly those of the Horse, Rooster, Bee, Ox, and Turtle, along with Tomoe's police robots, to get revenge on anyone and everyone that ever wronged her in the past, including sending Marinette, her parents, classmates, even her own father Andre, and Adrien to her "detention" maze to remain trapped there so no one can stop her reign. However, using the cover of some of Chloe's monitors that they destroy to conceal themselves so they can transform, Ladybug and Cat Noir free everyone and head to confront Chloe at the Louvre, where she was announcing abolishing the mayoral elections to remain Mayor permanently, only for her to capture Ladybug and Cat Noir in Resistance-reinforced Shell-ters and prepare to expose their true identities to all of Paris as Ladybug and Cat Noir begin to transform back into Marinette and Adrien due to the time-delayed reversion of their transformations having activated when they used Lucky Charm and Cataclysm earlier. Luckily, Ladybug encourages Alya and the other members of the French Miraculous Superhero Team to rally the people of Paris to rise up in revolt against Chloe, and Chloe is left to fend for herself as Gabriel, Tomoe, and Cerise bail on her as she had served her purpose and was no longer needed. Even her mother Audrey, who supported Chloe and encouraged her behavior, flees for her own life when she sees things go sour. Worse for Chloe, Ladybug and Cat Noir overcome their time limits on their transformations through sheer willpower, allowing them to stay transformed indefinitely and use Lucky Charm and Cataclysm without the need to revert back to recuperate, thus saving their secret identities as Marinette and Adrien, which Gabriel witnesses, much to his fury. After Chloe is stripped of her mayoral sash by Caline and it is destroyed, freeing the Megakuma for Ladybug to catch and purify, before Ladybug can give her another Magical Charm to protect her from Akumatization again as Chloe is confronted by everyone she ever bullied in Paris, now glaring daggers at her in fury for her crimes, Andre steps in to atone for his own mistakes and drags a defeated and deluded Chloe off to be punished, which also included divorcing his wife Audrey and exiling both of them from Paris indefinitely, sending them back to New York City. However, Marinette soon learns that Adrien is leaving Paris himself under Gabriel's orders and moving to London after he calls her to break the bad news to her personally that he is leaving Paris under his father's orders and couldn't get him to change his mind. She arrives at the airport just in time to see him off and share a kiss with him before he leaves. Later, as she goes to the end-of-the-school-year party at the Eiffel Tower, still heartbroken and devastated at losing Adrien/Cat Noir, she gets an unwanted phone call from Chloe, hoping to bully Marinette one more time over Adrien's departure, just to satisfy her own ego after losing everything else.

“	Marinette: Watch it, Chloe. I'm not in the mood. Chloe: Good! Remember this secret I wanted to tell you? Well, guess what? Adrien's moving to London! None of you will ever see him again, and you will suffer! You're ridiculous! Utterly- Marinette: Be quiet, Chloe. I already know your little secret. I know because Adrien told me. I also know that he loves me. And there's nothing you can do about it. Nothing! You've lost any and ALL power over us. You're the one who's ridiculous, Chloe. Utterly ridiculous. Enjoy your trip. (abruptly hangs up) (Chloe stares in shock for a moment before the cold, hard truth finally sinks in and she breaks into tears, finally realizing she's lost everything and hit rock-bottom)	„
	~ Marinette finally shatters Chloe's ego and pride by telling her off, refusing to be bullied by her anymore, leaving Chloe to weep at having destroyed her own life because of her behavior

With Chloe gone from Paris for good, and Marinette having finally put her in her place and showed her she can't bully anyone, especially Marinette, any longer, Marinette turns her attention to Monarch, learning of his true identity of Gabriel, Adrien's father, with a little help from Felix as Argos and Kagami, who put on a play with the Once Upon A Time Sentimonster to show Marinette Adrien and Felix's origins as human-sentimonster hybrids from Adrien's mother Emilie and Felix's father Colt using the Peacock Miraculous while it was damaged, resulting in Colt's death and Emilie falling into a permanent coma. In the meantime, Adrien slipped back into Paris to help Marinette as Cat Noir, but was engaged by Gabriel as the Akumatized supervillain Nightormentor, forcing him to retreat back to London after being affected by Nightormentor's dust, causing him to have a nightmare of the dark future from "Cat Blanc", with him cradling Ladybug's petrified form in his arms before she crumbled to ash and dust, leaving him devastated. However, the Megakuma is left behind for Marinette to find and purify as Ladybug, but with no reason to use Lucky Charm and Miraculous Ladybug to fix the damage, the effects of Nightormentor become permanent, setting the stage for Gabriel and Tomoe's final plan.

With everything now set, Gabriel and Tomoe launch their endgame with Operation Perfect Alliance in the season finale, "The Final Day", turning any and all Alliance Ring wearers around the world into Miraculized to hunt down Cat Noir and Ladybug under the belief they kidnapped Adrien and Kagami, using the Alliance Rings and a falsified video of Ladybug and Cat Noir kidnapping Adrien and Kagami to encourage the ring wearers to become Miraculized to rescue them after Gabriel as Nightormentor infected them with their worst nightmares, and Tomoe provided an application on the Alliance Rings to help fight said nightmares, before suspending it and posting the falsified video to convince the Alliance wearers to become Miraculized to help end said nightmares, empowering them with the Horse, Bee, Tiger, and Rooster Miraculous to fight Ladybug and Cat Noir, and anyone that was in allegiance with them, including the United Heroez, Ladydragon, the Resistance/Team Miraculous, and the Guardians led by Grandmaster Su-Han. After Adrien entrusts Plagg and the Cat Miraculous to Ladybug due to no longer feeling like he is worthy to wield it due to his current state of mind, especially after being affected by Nightormentor's dust, Ladybug discovers the ailing secretary to Gabriel, Nathalie, suffering the same effects from using the Peacock Miraculous as Emilie when it was damaged. After warning Ladybug of Gabriel's true plan to use the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous to wish Emilie back from her comatose state, but in the process, it will require a sacrifice in return, leading to the universe being erased and re-created in accordance with Gabriel's wish and to maintain balance, Nathalie succumbs to her own illness and falls into a comatose state just like Emilie as well, to Ladybug's devastation.

Combining the two Miraculous to become Bug Noire after Monarch discovers her civilian identity as Marinette, she faces Monarch in battle. During the fight, she calls Monarch out by his real name, much to his shock, and also on his insanity and how crazy his wish is to bring back his wife Emilie and heal his Cataclysm injury so the Agreste family can be reunited, and for how Adrien and Kagami will be made the eternal icons in his new world created from his wish, but Gabriel refuses to give up on his insane plans, believing he's come too far now to give up and turn back. After a hard fought battle, Marinette finally manages to disarm him of the Butterfly Miraculous, reverting him back into Gabriel, after using Emilie's cryo-pod to distract him so she could disarm him by threatening to attack it, forcing Gabriel to protect it and leave himself vulnerable. When he tries to have Nooroo bring him the Miraculous back, Marinette tells him that, as Guardian of the Miraculous, she has officially renounced his claim to the Butterfly Miraculous by disarming him of it, and intends to give it to someone who will use it properly for good and not evil. When Gabriel still tries to attack her with the Miraculous rings he still was wearing, including the Bee Miraculous with Venom, Marinette stops his attack cold and delivers an ultimatum to him:

“	I can just say the word, and the rings will be destroyed. You'll be powerless. The Kwamis will be free. Thanks to my magic ladybugs, I'll repair the chaos YOU created. Then I'll send Plagg out to give the Black Cat Miraculous back to its holder, and everything will be back to normal. Checkmate.	„
	~ Marinette/Bug Noire telling Gabriel he has lost

However, taking pity on Gabriel, knowing he and Nathalie don't have much time left before the effects of Cataclysm's necrosis on Gabriel and Nathalie's use of the Peacock Miraculous while it was damaged kills them, she attempts to tell him that Emilie never wanted this. Showing him the last video that Emilie made before she slipped into her coma that was addressed to Nathalie, in which Emilie asked Gabriel to give up on his obsession with trying to revive her and just let her go as Adrien needed him more, and Emilie had resigned herself to her fate and did not want to be revived. She knew that if Gabriel made the right choices, Adrien would be loved and have the freedom to decide his own life, even without her in it. Gabriel appears to break down in grief and shame over his actions and how he has ruined Adrien's life and everything else, as when Emilie went into her coma, it was as if the world came to an end for Gabriel and he couldn't go on without her as she meant everything to him. Marinette reverts back from Bug Noire to offer her help, but Gabriel decides to end things on his terms with his own body about to succumb to the Cataclysm necrosis as it has already started to crumble into ash with his internal organs already deteriorating to where he only has maybe a few hours left. To do that, he paralyzes Marinette with Venom after she let her guard down, despite Tikki and Plagg warning her not to trust him, and finally gets the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous. Transforming Plagg and Tikki into their true forms and then fusing them into Gimmi, the Kwami of Reality and the representation of destruction and rebirth, Gabriel prepares to make his wish, despite Marinette's pleas not to go through with it, but before he does, he relinquishes the Miraculous Alliance Rings he was wearing, and also asks Marinette not to tell Adrien of Gabriel's evil acts, and to remember him as trying to be a good father. With that, Gabriel asks Gimmi to look inside his heart and soul for what he wishes for and to sacrifice in return to maintain universal balance, and understanding his request, though surprised at first upon learning of his choices, Gimmi grants it. Marinette watches as Gabriel and Emilie disappear into the afterlife, before shielding her eyes as Gimmi unleashes her power to erase the universe and re-create it in the image of Gabriel's wish, taking Marinette and everyone else with it in the process.

Fast forward one month later, and Marinette and everyone else are unharmed as they live their new lives in the new universe created by Gabriel's wish, where Gabriel is hailed as a hero for having sacrificed himself to end Monarch's threat, the Alliance Rings have been destroyed and reformed into a statue honoring Gabriel, Tomoe Tsurugi has taken over Gabriel's company under the surmise of "continuing his legacy", Adrien is living in Paris again under the guardianship of a healthy Nathalie, his aunt Amelie, and cousin Felix, is in a relationship with Marinette, including sharing a kiss that is not interrupted, and the city is becoming more eco-friendly under its new Mayoress, Miss Bustier. All their classmates/fellow Miraculous users are also having a pool party at the Agreste Mansion as well. Marinette also returns to Adrien the Graham de Vanily twin rings containing his Amok due to his sentimonster origins from the Peacock Miraculous when Emilie used it, despite the consequences for using a Miraculous while it was damaged, allowing him to truly be free and no longer being controlled by anyone through them, especially his father Gabriel. Marinette has also managed to forge the Miraculous back into their original forms, thanks to the Miraculous Grimoire she recovered from Gabriel's lair, and her duty as Guardian of them after being given the position by Master Fu, but is still upset she was unable to recover the Butterfly Miraculous after the final battle with Monarch/Gabriel, being consoled by Alya and Grandmaster Su-Han that she'll get it back, along with Nooroo. Nevertheless, to prevent a repeat of what happened before when they were all together, making them much easier to steal, she opts instead to split the Miraculous among Team Miraculous on a permanent basis, allowing Alya, Kagami, Ivan, Luka, Juleka, Nino, Alix, Zoe, and the others, even Felix as Argos, to join her and Adrien as Ladybug and Cat Noir, with protecting Paris and using the Miraculous for good so they won't fall into the hands of evil again.

Unknown to Marinette, the Butterfly Miraculous was recovered by Lila Rossi/Cerise Bianca, who under a new alias as "Iris Verde", planned to use it against Marinette when they next meet, but Lila is attacked by a mysterious force that catches her by complete surprise, leaving her fate unknown.

Miraculous Paris

In the special, "Miraculous Paris", while Monarch deals with his Cataclysm injury, and Alya assures Marinette they will get the other Miraculous and Kwamis back from him, Marinette is startled when Alya transforms into the Kamikotized superhero Ubiquity to allow the Gabriel of a parallel universe, using the Butterfly Miraculous for good as Betterfly, to emerge and ask for Ladybug and Cat Noir's help, moments before being followed through Ubiquity's portal by Marinette's own parallel evil self, Shadybug, and her partner-in-crime, Adrien's evil parallel self, Claw Noir. As Betterfly carries Marinette to safety, he gets her to the Eiffel Tower, only to then be attacked by Shadybug and Claw Noir, with Claw Noir threatening to use a Cataclysm powerful enough to destroy the planet if Betterfly doesn't surrender. As Marinette watches as Betterfly surrenders and engages Shadybug and Claw Noir in battle, Marinette is convinced that Betterfly is a Monarch from a parallel universe that fights on the side of good and not evil while her own parallel self and that of Adrien fight for evil. Tikki confirms Marinette's thoughts by explaining about the Multiverse and how there are parallel universes out there, but a human never has enough time in their lives to learn everything about them. Tikki also explains that Shadybug and Claw Noir, due to using their Miraculous for evil, have overridden the safety features when used by younger bearers, so while they can use their full powers, it is coming at a terrible price as it is using up more and more of their life forces with each use of Lucky Charm and Cataclysm alongside the energy from the parallel Tikki and Plagg. After hearing that, Marinette turns into Ladybug to help Betterfly. Later joined by Cat Noir, they are soon forced to retreat after Claw Noir forces Cat Noir to use his Cataclysm on Claw Noir, leaving a massive crack and scar on Claw Noir's chest, to Cat Noir's horror. Betterfly Kamikotizes Cat Noir into Celesticat to fly him and Ladybug to safety.

Once safe in the sewers, Betterfly explains to Ladybug and Cat Noir of his origins back in the parallel universe where he is from: ruled by The Supreme, who possesses all the Miraculous there, Betterfly managed to steal the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous from The Supreme, but later use of them led to him hurting his wife, the parallel Emilie. Guilt-ridden by it, Betterfly vowed to use the Butterfly Miraculous for good, rather than evil like with Monarch, despite how good deeds in the parallel universe are a crime in the eyes of The Supreme. He hoped Ladybug could help him make his dream of improving his universe come true, but Marinette explains she can't due to Monarch's theft of the Miraculous in her world she was supposed to protect. Nevertheless, turning back into Ladybug and Cat Noir, Marinette and Adrien agree to help Betterfly.

They soon see Shadybug and Claw Noir calling them out, and Alya arrives to show the three good Miraculous users footage in which, having allied with Monarch, Shadybug and Claw Noir intend to get the primary universe's Ladybug and Cat Miraculous to summon Gimmi to save themselves from their doomed futures from using their own Miraculous for evil. Knowing they can't let that happen, Ladybug has the parallel Gabriel loan her the Butterfly Miraculous, allowing her to become Ladyfly by uniting the Butterfly and Ladybug Miraculous. Kamikotizing the parallel Gabriel into Guardian Angel, Ladyfly then stores his Kamikotized object in the parallel universe to protect it from Monarch thanks to Alya being turned into Ubiquity again to access the parallel universe before Gabriel becomes Guardian Angel. As a safety precaution, remembering that the Butterfly Miraculous has a limited range to detect Akumatizations/Kamikotizations, Ladybug and Cat Noir fly Betterfly and Alya to London as Cosmobug and Astrocat to carry out their plan as that was well out of range for Monarch to detect use of Betterfly's Butterfly Miraculous and reverse it if he had detected the Kamikotization.

After Monarch undoes Ubiquity's transformation thanks to his Butterfly Miraculous, he, Shadybug, and Claw Noir engage Ladyfly, Cat Noir, and Guardian Angel, but thanks to Guardian Angel's protection, Monarch's attempts to paralyze Ladyfly and Cat Noir are ineffective, and he's forced to retreat after realizing it was a trap when he can't find Guardian Angel's object to reverse the Kamikotization. Meanwhile, Ladyfly overpowers Shadybug, and upon seeing her parallel self's deteriorating condition from using her Ladybug Miraculous without its limiter for evil, Marinette reverts back and encourages her parallel self to reform and find happiness in the world, no matter how bad things get and how horribly it has treated her, with or without magic. Moved by her prime self's words after initially blowing it off in a villainous breakdown over her doomed future and how different their universes are, Shadybug uses her own Miraculous Ladybug to undo all the damage from their fights, which also heals her body and gives her a new uniform due to her reformation and using the Ladybug Miraculous for good instead of evil. Adrien was also able to convince his own parallel self to do the same and turn good as well.

However, before Ubiquity can send the reformed Shadybug and Claw Noir, now calling themselves Paw Noir and Ladybug, home with Betterfly, she senses Monarch attempting to use Sublimation to try and travel to the other parallel universes. Quantic Ladybug willingly volunteers to be Kamikotized into Ladybiquity to stop him, as this allows her to sync with her counterparts in other parallel universes, no matter if they were using the Ladybug Miraculous, Cat Miraculous, or neither, allowing them to become Ubiquity/Ladybiquity/Ubiquinoire as well, and after Monarch fails to secure the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous from four parallel universes due to the interference of Ladybiquity through her alternate selves, he retreats to his lair defeated, vowing to destroy Ladybug throughout the Multiverse.

With the Multiverse safe, Betterfly, Paw Noir, and Ladybug prepare to return home to fight The Supreme, but not before thanking the Quantic Ladybug and Cat Noir for giving them their hopes back, and also encouraging Ladybug, Cat Noir, and Alya that they will defeat Monarch and get their own Miraculous back from him. Alya becomes Ubiquity one last time to allow Betterfly, Paw Noir, and Ladybug to return home, before Marinette and Alya head back to the bakery for some breakfast following last night's battle.

Miraculous London

Taking place during the final moments of "Re-creation", Marinette is brought to the Burrow of Bunnyx just in time as someone has made another wish with Tikki and Plagg as Gimmi, causing the whole universe to be recreated in a way that is also causing all the time portals in the Burrow to vanish, even causing the future Bunnyx to be erased, and had it not been for the present Bunnyx's intervention, Marinette would have been potentially erased by the wish as well. Recovering the Ladybug Miraculous from the events of the Season 1/series premiere, "Ladybug & Cat Noir (Origins - Part 1)", Marinette becomes Chronobug to figure out who has tampered with the space-time continuum, found out her identity, and stolen the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous to summon Gimmi to make their wish.

Before that, after Gabriel made his wish, Marinette recovered Tikki and Plagg, learning of Gabriel's wish, which barely caused any changes to the universe since everything stayed the same after Gimmi used their power, but was found by the healed Nathalie after Gabriel's wish restored her to good health, forcing Marinette to become Bug Noire again in self-defense, before Nathalie explains she's not there to fight her and discards her crossbow, causing Marinette to stand down, and after both talk regarding the current circumstances, and Marinette breaks down crying over how she should have made the wish to Gimmi and sacrificed herself instead, they both agree to remove, destroy, or erase any trace of Gabriel's identity as Monarch to maintain his last request that Adrien never know of his evil actions. To that end, they free the Kwamis, Marinette uses her Miraculous Ladybug to undo all of Operation Perfect Alliance along with Nightormentor's actions, and then heads to London to free Adrien and Kagami, learning from Nathalie of Tomoe's partnership with Gabriel, and then realizing that if Nathalie turns herself in for her own crimes as Mayura, Adrien will have no one left to take care of him. Marinette convinces Nathalie to not turn herself in, as Marinette will tell the whole world, including Adrien, the truth that only Ladybug will know, and Ladybug's truth will be the truth, despite knowing the burden she will be putting on herself by lying to the whole world, her friends in the French Miraculous Superhero Team, the United Heroez, Ladydragon, Grandmaster Su-Han and the Guardians, and Adrien, of Gabriel being a hero and not a villain. After she returns from London, Marinette destroys the apparatus the Kwamis had been imprisoned in with Cataclysm. Then she destroys Emilie's cryo-pod along with the catwalk and glass elevator to permanently seal The Crypt from ever being found as, with Emilie's body gone, having joined Gabriel in the afterlife, The Crypt's duty was complete, and it had to be destroyed to ensure Adrien never found out that his mother had always been cryogenically preserved by Gabriel in the hope of bringing her back. With her now officially confirmed dead as Marinette witnessed it firsthand thanks to Gabriel's wish and Gimmi, the whole room had to be destroyed to maintain the cover story Nathalie and Marinette would spin to the public.

Heading to London, she first meets up with Kagami, who reveals she knows Marinette is Bug Noire due to before with when she helped Argos show Marinette who Monarch really was to help her beat him. Learning of the lie that Nathalie and Marinette intent to spin to the world with how Gabriel sacrificed himself to destroy Monarch to save Nathalie and Ladybug with his wish to Gimmi, there was still the matter of Kagami's own mother, Tomoe Tsurugi, since she was an willing accomplice/partner to Gabriel's psychotic schemes. They decide to form a cover story that Tomoe and Gabriel were forced into servitude by Monarch to make the Alliance Rings, and Kagami assures Marinette she'll deal with her mother to prevent her from trying to continue any mad schemes she had planned with Gabriel, or worse, if Tomoe has nothing left to lose, spill the beans of Gabriel being Monarch, destroying Ladybug's reputation after she lied to everyone about Gabriel being a hero and making her a pariah to everyone.

Afterwards, the two head to Adrien's cell, but before Bug Noire can destroy the door with Cataclysm, the Gorilla, Placide I.T., lets her in with his keycard to unlock it. Inside, Adrien asks why Bug Noire is here and not his father, and Bug Noire, with great reluctance as she struggles to find the right words, tells him the half-truth of what happened back at the Agreste Mansion...

“	Adrien: Ladybug?! Bug Noire: Uh...uh... Adrien: My father's not here? Why aren't you saying anything? Bug Noire: Your father...your father was... (Adrien gasps in horror, realizing something terrible has happened to his father) Bug Noire: Was...a hero. Your father was a hero. (Adrien and Placide I.T. are horrified, realizing Gabriel is dead. Kagami simply lowers her head and tries to avoid eye contact with Adrien) Bug Noire: The truth is...Monarch was forcing your father and Mrs. Tsurugi to work for him. He forced them to design the Alliance Rings in order to turn the entire world against me and Cat Noir. If they said "no", Monarch threatened to go after you and Kagami. Adrien: But I saw your ladybugs fly by. Which means you defeated Monarch. Bug Noire: I did face him, in your home. He...he had taken Nathalie and your father hostage. And I fought as hard as I could, but...he was too mighty and, Monarch had too many powers, too many Miraculous. He severely injured me. I couldn't stop him from taking the Miraculous of the Ladybug and the Black Cat. Monarch was about to make a wish, and that's...when your father...that's when your father became a hero. At the last minute your father pounced on Monarch, seized the Miraculous, and made a wish in his place. He saved Nathalie's life and mine in exchange for Monarch's life, and his own. (Bug Noire approaches Adrien as Kagami and Placide I.T. look on in sorrow. When she tries to take his hand, he shoves her away in heartbroken anguish.) Adrien: Why didn't you save him?! And even if something had happened to him, aren't your magic ladybugs supposed to repair everything?! This is impossible! YOU HAVE TO BE WRONG!! Bug Noire: (faced wracked with guilt and remorse) I swear I tried everything! Adrien: (Looking at the Black Cat Miraculous and the Turtle Miraculous Alliance Ring on Bug Noire's fingers) If he hadn't locked me in here...I could've saved him... Bug Noire: Believe me, there's nothing you could've done. Adrien: Dad... Bug Noire: That's why your father had sent you and Kagami here to London. To protect you. (Adrien continues to sob in grief as Kagami comforts him) Bug Noire: I'm so sorry. There was no good way of telling you all of this. (kneeling as she tries to offer her support as well) But I wanted to be the one to say it before you found out some other way. I'm...(eyes welling up with tears)...I'm so...so sorry, Adrien...I... Kagami: Thank you, Ladybug. Surely you have many other things to deal with. Bug Noire: (wiping her eyes) Yes...(turns to leave, but looks back one last time at Adrien before departing and returning home, her face wracked with guilt and remorse)	„
	~ Marinette's half-truth/half-lie to Adrien to keep Gabriel's identity as Monarch a secret per his last request

Adrien is distraught over learning of his father's death, as now he's lost both of his parents in Gabriel and Emilie. He initially lashes out at Bug Noire, asking why her Miraculous Ladybug didn't, or couldn't, have prevented this, but Bug Noire pleads that she tried everything to save Gabriel. As Bug Noire then explains that was the reason that Gabriel and Tomoe sent Adrien and Kagami to London to keep them safe, Kagami comforts Adrien, before thanking Bug Noire and telling her she had better head home now as she's got a lot to do. Marinette returns home to Paris, but her face is wracked with guilt and remorse from what she had to tell Adrien per Gabriel's last request to her before he made his wish to Gimmi. She reunites with Nathalie, who comforts her as she cries her heart out over what happened in London. Once she returns to Paris, before Adrien and Kagami come back with Gorilla and reunite with Nathalie and Tomoe, Marinette, as Ladybug, calls a press conference to spin the cover story of Gabriel sacrificing himself to end Monarch's threat once and for all, but also says she was unable to unmask Monarch, so his identity remains anonymous, and was unable to recover the Butterfly Miraculous, leaving everyone completely unaware of the real truth of Gabriel's evil acts as Monarch as Ladybug leaves before she can answer any more questions. She's at the Startrain station later when Adrien, Kagami, and Placide I.T. return to Paris, hugs Adrien to assure him she's there for him in his time of mourning, then heads home, where she lets the Kwamis out of her purse, calls Alya to lie to her as well, writes in her journal, then heads to bed, but still feels guilt-ridden and exhausted over what she had done, and Tikki and Plagg are unable to comfort her over her decision, since neither of the are a Kwami of Truth to assure Marinette she made the right choices, no matter how much it pains her because of them.

As Chronobug, Marinette tracks down the culprit behind the wish that is rewriting the universe and time, to prevent the new Hawk Moth from figuring out her identity, getting the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous, and making the wish in the first place. After being unable to stop them from stealing the Miraculous, she then attempts to confront them while they are eavesdropping on her as Bug Noire, but fails every time thanks to the new Hawk Moth having been prepared for every eventuality. As the final option to ensure the new Hawk Moth doesn't get the Miraculous and can summon Gimmi, Marinette changes the entry regarding her own identity as Ladybug in the culprit's journal using her Lucky Charm of hand sanitizer and some tools she grabbed from her bedroom to say Gabriel was Ladybug, thus restoring the timeline and universe, saving the future Bunnyx as well, and preventing the new Hawk Moth from managing to get ahold of the Miraculous Alliance Rings and the Kwamis. Before using her Miraculous Ladybug to return Tikki to the past so Marinette's past self never knows of Tikki being taken while she was gone, and her present self is imbued with the knowledge of her adventure, Marinette asks Alix and her two future selves if she made the right choice regarding lying to Adrien about Gabriel. The three Bunnyx assure Marinette that her decisions have both good and bad results that she'll have to bear, but in the end, it was what was in her head that helped save the universe from the new Hawk Moth. Giving Alix a hug of thanks, Marinette uses her Miraculous Ladybug and everything is returned to where it belongs through the Burrow's windows as Marinette reverts back from Chronobug as she's return to the present, where things have returned to normal with her efforts in stopping the new Hawk Moth from stealing the Miraculous and making a wish with Gimmi.

Back in the present, Marinette begins the process using the Miraculous Grimoire to restore the Miraculous Alliance Rings to their original shapes and designs, but improving them as well. She also uses this incident to finalize her decision to send the Kwamis and their respective Miraculous back to their holders in Team Miraculous, realizing that keeping the Kwamis and Miraculous together is too dangerous after both this event, and what happened back in "Strikeback", believing that they will be stronger with the Kwamis separated and preventing the new Hawk Moth from summoning Gimmi. Marinette assures the Kwamis she'll miss them, as they will with her as Guardian of the Miraculous, and Marinette entrusts the Black Cat Miraculous back to Plagg to take back to Cat Noir. Grateful, he shares a quick hug with Marinette before heading back to Adrien so he can become Cat Noir again.

Later, as Ladybug sits on a roof overlooking the Eiffel Tower, she's joined by Cat Noir, who tries to commend her about Monarch, but she silently beckons him over to sit with her as they both have a lot on their mind right now. As she tries to talk to him about how difficult it is to keep a huge secret that you just want to let out and get off your shoulders, but can't and you just want to cry and have a shoulder to be comforted by, he understands what she means, and they share a hug, with Cat Noir apologizing for not being there to help her against Monarch, and Ladybug apologizing for being unable to explain why to him. When Ladybug mentions she let the Butterfly Miraculous go, Cat Noir assures her they'll get it back "just like old times", before they share a fist bump and rest on each other's shoulders as they look at the Eiffel Tower, preparing for their new war with the new Hawk Moth, and backed up by the whole French Miraculous Superhero Team this time.

As for the new Hawk Moth, revealed to be Lila Rossi/Cerise Bianca, upon discovering Ladybug's sabotage of her journal to say Gabriel was Ladybug, she snaps in a blind fury at having been outsmarted, completely ruining her plan to summon Gimmi and make a wish with her, and upon putting on the Butterfly Miraculous and having Nooroo transform her into the new Hawk Moth, she swears vengeance on Ladybug, leading into a preview of Marinette in the series' new Unreal Engine animation style for Season 6 and beyond.

Season 6

In "Climatiqueen", Marinette attempts to help Adrien find a passion that he would like, even if it is some of her own, but it seems that Adrien just can't find something he likes. However, Marinette is desperate to find a passion that Adrien will like. In the meantime, a girl named Aurore was trying to win a contest on the community led by Chloe, but when she fears she won't make it, and is only made to feel worse by the girl who was at the top of the rankings, it allows her to be vulnerable to being Akumatized by Chrysalis into Climatiqueen, using her parasol to force people into providing her the likes to win Chloe's contest. Marinette and Adrien get her best friend to safety before turning into Ladybug and Cat Noir to deal with Climatiqueen. However, Cat Noir is getting a little overexcited with helping Ladybug, while in the meantime, Chrysalis encourages Climatiqueen to earn more likes by retrieving the Miraculous of Ladybug and Cat Noir. As Climatiqueen heads for the Eiffel Tower to carry out her new plan, Ladybug and Cat Noir turn into Astrocat and Cosmobug to stop her, but she's too strong, so they call in Max/Pegasus to help beat her there. With Pegasus' help with Voyage, they are able to rescue the visitors on the Eiffel Tower after Cat Noir destroys it with Cataclysm to stop Climatiqueen, before Ladybug uses a Voyage portal to disarm Climatiqueen of her parasol, break it in two, and purify the Ultrakuma while Pegasus and Cat Noir rescue the restored Aurore. After Ladybug restores the Eiffel Tower with Miraculous Ladybug, and Aurore sees she won Chloe's contest, she confesses to the Miraculous users her reasons behind taking part in the contest. Taking pity on her, they encourage her to seek out another community, and Ladybug provides her a Magical Charm to protect her in the future. Thanks to their encouragement, Aurore joins the Ladybug community, and her post regarding a double rainbow that appeared after she was de-Akumatized earns her likes from many of the members of Team Miraculous.

Later, Adrien and Marinette see Aurore's video, before Adrien takes his leave from Marinette, who is able to resist going after him, much to Tikki's compliment. Adrien later meets up with a new classmate, Sublime, who has prosthetic legs, and the two go for a run together.

In "The Illustrhater", Marinette is seen with Alya discussing their situation about how they have no information pertaining to the new Butterfly Miraculous holder, and Marinette is having a meltdown over her fear of one of her teammates being Akumatized and handing their Miraculous over to the new Hawk Moth. Alya assures her that the team has trained well to control their emotions and prevent being Akumatized again, before then being reminded of a double-date Marinette and Alya have with Adrien and Nino. However, during the bus ride, the bus is in danger of falling off a bridge when it starts to collapse. Marinette and Adrien cover Alya and Nino so they can transform into Rena Rouge and Carapace to help save the bus, being commended for their efforts by Lt. Roger Raincomprix and the first responders when they arrive. Afterwards, Alya and Nino decide to leave Marinette and Adrien on their own to see how Marinette handles things herself while they investigate more into finding the new Hawk Moth's identity. Needless to say, Marinette is too preoccupied by her controlling nature and panic over not having Alya for support to relax and enjoy a day with Adrien to go steady as boyfriend and girlfriend, and despite reasoning from Tikki, Marinette becomes Ladybug to help out some of the other members of Team Miraculous that had their duties well under control before she arrived to help herself, such as Ryuko with a fire, Polymouse with retrieving a ball for some kids, and assisting Miss Hound with rescuing a cat stuck in a tree. Cat Noir takes notice of this and tries to talk to Ladybug, but she's too obsessed with helping to listen to reason. Thankfully, Ladybug is snapped back to her senses when Rena calls her to warn her that Paris is under siege by an Akumatized supervillain and they need her and Cat Noir ASAP. Meeting up with Carapace and Rena, Ladybug meets The Illustrhater, a young girl named Maya turned into a supervillain due to her distress at no one liking her drawings, allowing the new Hawk Moth to Akumatize her to unleash chaos on Paris. Summoning a Lucky Charm of a case for drawing materials, Ladybug has Carapace take it to load up with supplies, before, with Rena's help, creating an illusion of drawing amazing art that even manages to awe Illustrhater, allowing Ladybug to get close enough to disarm Illustrhater of her sketchpad for Cat Noir to destroy with Cataclysm, reverting her back into Maya, and then restoring the damage with Miraculous Ladybug. Ladybug then asks Maya what she knows of the new Hawk Moth, but despite the information Maya provides, it is not much else to go on. Nevertheless, Ladybug gives Maya a Magical Charm to protect her, and has Maya share a "Pound It!" fist bump with the four Miraculous users.

Back home, despite them having little to show with finding out who the new Hawk Moth is, grateful to Alya for all her help, Marinette decides to grant Alya her own Kwagatama from Tikki, dubbing Alya a deputy Guardian of the Miraculous and Marinette's successor. That way, if Marinette should renounce her position as Guardian of the Miraculous and lose her memories as Master Fu did, Alya would become Tikki's new keeper, and Trixx and the Fox Miraculous would be entrusted to a new user that Alya would know would take good care of Trixx and the Fox Miraculous in her stead when Alya becomes Scarabella.

After that, Marinette is finally able to settle down and enjoy a date at the movies with Adrien, falling asleep resting on his shoulder with a comforting smile on her face.

In "Sublimation", Marinette is extremely worried about the new girl in town named Sublime, a girl with a pair of prosthetic legs from Belgium, who appears to be running every morning with Adrien. Alya suspects Marinette may be a little jealous, but Marinette reveals everything she's found on Sublime, causing her to believe she'll never measure up to someone like her. As a result, she begins following Sublime, seeing if there's an opportunity to help her, but every chance fails. She later eavesdrops on Sublime talking to Adrien, but then begins to think she's been a bad friend because of her antics and starts overreacting to fearing Adrien will break up with her because she was a bad friend to Sublime. As a result, Marinette follows Sublime to Olympic Stadium to try and apologize, despite Tikki trying to reason with her and tell her she's overreacting, but finds Sublime gone by the time she reaches the locker room where Sublime swapped out her prosthetic legs she wore at school for her regular ones. Finding the ones she left behind, Marinette panics, but then overhears Sublime having a panic attack of her own and trying to boost her self-confidence by speaking to her reflection in the mirror, but thinks it was directed towards her. Freaking out, thinking Sublime hates her and is in love with Adrien, when she hears Sublime coming back, she pretends to be Akumatized with a makeshift costume and calling herself "Soapinator", but after Sublime reveals she knows it's her and asks that they talk later, after her trial for the World Championships, Marinette decides to become Ladybug to try and make her phony Akumatization legit, but ends up ruining Sublime's trial and getting a sponsor with Bob Roth, along with her prosthetic legs. After Sublime explains everything from earlier with Adrien about Marinette and how she tries to makes new friends, Marinette/Ladybug, realizing this is all her fault because of her fear of not being a good friend to Sublime and potentially ruining her relationship with Adrien/Cat Noir, is horrified at what she has done. This also leads to Sublime's mother Caroline being Akumatized by Chrysalis into Sublimation. Realizing this is all her fault, Ladybug tries to fight Sublimation and apologize for what she's done, but is thrown out of the Olympic Stadium by Sublimation in anger for her actions against Sublime. Recovering, she tries to apologize again to Sublimation for what happened to Sublime and promises to fix it, but is again overpowered as Sublimation is too focused on securing Bob Roth as a sponsor and still angry with Ladybug for what she's done, forcing her to call Cat Noir for assistance. Joining him after Cat Noir rescues Bob Roth, after Ladybug summons a Lucky Charm of a makeup compact, it is thanks to Cat Noir's encouragement that Ladybug decides to stand her ground and let herself be affected by Sublimation's power, only to not be affected at all, as is Cat Noir, since both are at their best already, rendering Sublimation's power useless. At that point, Chrysalis unleashes some Anti-kumas against Ladybug and Cat Noir through Sublimation, but Ladybug is able to snatch the Akumatized medal from Sublimation and break it, freeing the Ultrakuma for her to catch and purify. Only afterwards does she realize that she was the guilty party that led to Caroline being Akumatized in the first place because she ruined Sublime's trial and her prosthetic legs after looking at her reflection in the Lucky Charm's mirror and having a self-realization that everything that happened today was all her fault, and hers alone because she let her complexity addiction ruin her attempts to be a good friend to Sublime and overreacting to it ruining her relationship with Adrien/Cat Noir.

Returning to Olympic Stadium, Ladybug apologizes to Sublime for what happened, including ruining her trial, her legs, and getting her mother Akumatized, and uses her Miraculous Ladybug to repair the medal and Sublime's legs, before gifting Caroline a Magical Charm to protect her in the future, sharing a "Pound It!" with Sublime and her parents alongside Cat Noir, and then taking her leave, returning to being Marinette so when Sublime enters the locker room after her successful trial, Marinette apologizes for being a bad friend with her earlier antics, and Sublime forgives her, thus ensuring Sublime and Marinette become the best of friends.

However, unknown to Marinette, Sublime and her parents later do get a sponsor to help Sublime, but it is Gabriel's former partner-in-crime, Tomoe Tsurugi.

In "Daddycop", Marinette is preparing for a dinner with Adrien to celebrate her 100th kiss with him, and got the okay from Mayor Bustier to have the Paris Fire Brigade perform a fireworks show for it. When her scooter breaks down, Miss Hound helps her out, allowing Marinette to become Ladybug to get her groceries home before they spoil, but when she later tries to have Adrien fitted for his suit for the dinner after Tikki causes her to remember and she bolts to school to get his measurements, he drops the bombshell that he can't make it, to her shock and heartbreak, because he did not want to ruin her movie night with the girls, who had confronted Marinette moments earlier and reminded her of it, with Kagami bluntly asking if Marinette forgot, and Marinette tried to deny she did, but Kagami knows better. Frustrated and horrified at how her future could be ruined by this, she decides to talk to Alya and the others to convince them to ensure she can still have her dinner with Adrien, but in the confusion, she thinks they were asking her to invite Sabrina. Adrien is still unable to agree to come, leaving Marinette heartbroken. When Sabrina shows up later, and Marinette tells her she was waiting for Adrien, heartbroken, Sabrina leaves, while Marinette somberly watches as the Paris Fire Brigade launch the fireworks anyway as Alya and the other girls try to comfort her after learning the whole story. When they realize what actually happened, Alya and the other girls rush to comfort Sabrina, but are confronted by her father, Lt. Raincomprix, Akumatized into Daddycop by Chrysalis, who immediately zaps them with his lasers to brainwash them into loving his daughter. Seeing things have really gone bad, Marinette has Tikki turn her into Ladybug to intervene. Rescuing Sabrina, while Cat Noir turns into Astrocat to distract Daddycop, Ladybug asks for Miss Hound's help, but Sabrina, still feeling upset and unworthy of the Dog Miraculous, takes it off to return it to Ladybug, but Ladybug's encouragement convinces Sabrina to reaccept her calling as Miss Hound, transforming once more into her Miraculous self with Barkk, getting a new costume in the process, and working with Ladybug, Cat Noir, and calling on additional assistance from Max/Pegasus, they are able to help free Sabrina's father from Chrysalis' Ultrakuma. After Astrocat is affected by an Anti-kuma and turned back into Cat Noir and cut off from his powers for the moment, Ladybug rescues him with her Lucky Charm, and takes over as Cosmobug to keep Daddycop distracted, luring him into a trap as she flies towards the Arc de Triumph, where Pegasus summons a Voyage portal to transport Daddycop right to where he, Cat Noir, and Miss Hound are waiting. Miss Hound tags Daddycop's cruiser with Fetch, recalling it, and allowing Cat Noir to destroy it with Cataclysm, freeing the Ultrakuma. After Cosmobug saves Lt. Raincomprix and reverts back to Ladybug, she catches and purifies the Ultrakuma before using her Miraculous Ladybug to restore Lt. Raincomprix's cruiser to normal and free Alya, the other girls, and everyone else from their brainwashing, before then gifting a Magical Charm to Lt. Raincomprix and sharing a "Pound It!" with Cat Noir, Miss Hound, and Pegasus.

Later, Sabrina is welcomed warmly into the group at Marinette's girls movie night, who assure her that Chloé is just a bad memory for them now and Sabrina has a chance to have a fresh start and a better life with Marinette, Alya, Zoe, Juleka, Rose, Mylene, and Kagami supporting her through it, leading to a group hug between the female members of Team Miraculous. As a result, the next day at school, Sabrina is now sporting a new appearance thanks to her new confidence, which the guys and girls of Team Miraculous approve of. As for Marinette, she apologizes to Adrien for wanting everything to be perfect for their 100th kiss, and shares it with him with no extreme preparations like she originally intended. Adrien returns the gesture with sharing their 101st kiss, showing their relationship continuing to grow stronger every day.

In "Werepapas", Marinette learns that Adrien is being visited by both his maternal and paternal grandparents when she calls him to invite him to a meal on Sunday with her own family with Tom, Sabine, Roland, and Gina. Feeling he'll need support because of his fear regarding meeting them for the first time since Gabriel and Emilie passed, Marinette infiltrates the meeting disguised as a maid, and quickly shows contempt to Lord Emil Graham de Vanily, while supporting Johnny Grassette, despite some initial misgivings about her plan from Nathalie. Marinette is able to stay incognito pretty well, using a Cockney accent to help disguise herself as a member of the manor staff with Nathalie and Placide. When she overhears Emil wanting the Twin Rings from Adrien, and then offering a contract to the Grassettes that, if signed by them, will have them forfeit their visitation rights to Adrien, hostilities begin to flare between Johnny and Emil. Refusing to let Emil take Adrien away to London again after what Gabriel pulled with Operation Perfect Alliance, Marinette attempts to ruin it by spilling juice all over the contract, using her clumsiness to her advantage, but Emil was prepared for a situation like that and produces a spare copy before offering to pay the Grassettes off to sign the contract, only further infuriating Johnny as he refused Emil's money when Gabriel married Emilie, and he'll refuse it now. All the while, Lady Milly Graham de Vanily was getting further and further upset by the arguing, comparing it to two wolves trying to see which one was the alpha wolf by barking the loudest. When Emil again snaps at her to be quiet and know her place, Milly finally snaps back at him, before grabbing the Twin Rings when they appear, and running off with them, locking herself in a room alone. Marinette pleads to Nathalie and Placide to get the key to unlock the doors, while watching horrified through the keyhole when the Twin Rings are infected by one of Chrysalis' Ultrakumas to Akumatize Milly. By the time the doors are unlocked, Milly has become Ringmaster, and getting payback on Emil for suppressing her and arguing with Johnny, she turns both grandfathers into the Werepapas and traps Adrien in a giant trophy, declaring that the two grandfathers are going to fight to the death, and whoever wins gets to decide Adrien's future, as Marinette looks on in horror. After having Nathalie and Placide escort Gabrielle to safety, turning into Ladybug, Marinette tries to fight them, despite them being forced by Ringmaster to attack her against their wills, and pleads with Ringmaster to reject the Ultrakuma. When Milly refuses, summoning a Lucky Charm scarf, Marinette does what she has to do, and manages to tie up Ringmaster with the scarf, making her into a human shield. Nevertheless, after she forces the Werepapas to attack Ringmaster, she manages to disarm Ringmaster of the rings, and while sending all three apparently plummeting to their doom, knowing her Miraculous Ladybug will save them, Ladybug is hesitant to break the rings, knowing if she does, Adrien's Amok will come out and he'll cease to exist. Despite her anxiety and hesitation, Ladybug goes through with breaking the rings with her yo-yo, but only Chrysalis' Ultrakuma comes out, and no Amok. She then purifies it and uses her Miraculous Ladybug to fix everything, and is relieved to see Adrien is alright after the rings are repaired and the trophy he was trapped in vanishes. She then gifts a Magical Charm to Milly before taking her leave, circling back to Adrien's room, and reverting back to Marinette for Adrien to find, relieved she's alright. Afterwards, she returns to the dining room and brings in Nathalie, and manages to convince the Graham de Vanilies and Grassettes to let Adrien make his own decisions with staying in Paris with Nathalie, Placide, Marinette, and all his friends, but will visit them from time to time.

In "El Toro de Piedra", Marinette is helping Kitty Section prepare for a concert for Mayoress Bustier, but she also happens to find all of Adrien's old stuff and tries to look through it. As she does, she finds a letter from Gabriel. Fearing it could be from him as Monarch, she takes it to Nathalie, and indeed, it is from Gabriel during his time as Monarch, explaining everything to Adrien, and asking him to carry on his legacy with securing the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous and using Gimmi and the Ultimate Miraculous Absolute Power to bring him and Emilie back, and entrusting Nathalie to provide all the details to him. Nathalie intends to destroy the letter to ensure Adrien never sees it, but Marinette takes it and holds onto it for the time being, mainly knowing if Adrien reads it, her promise to Gabriel to never tell Adrien, or the world, of his evil acts as Monarch, will be exposed, and she'll be seen as a pariah for lying to everyone. In the meantime, efforts to get Kitty Section ready for the concert for the Mayoress are having problems: Luka's connection from his current residence in Brazil is acting up, Ivan gets so into playing his drums that he knocks them over, indicating he is very frustrated at the moment and storms out to cool off, and it is clear the band hasn't had enough time to rehearse enough for the concert. Nevertheless, the concert goes ahead as planned, and even though Ivan is still absent, Marinette and the other Miraculers still dedicate the concert to the Mayoress, earning her a standing ovation from Principal Damocles and the other guests. However, Marinette soon gets a summon from Minotaurox, calling her for help, and tells the others she'll go look for Ivan. Having Tikki turn her into Ladybug, she finds him in the sewers. Ladybug is startled when Minotaurox turns back into Ivan and returns the Ox Miraculous and Stompp to her, renouncing his Miraculous and Kwami. When she asks why, he explains his father, Raul, is a former criminal, and had been encouraging him to follow in his footsteps. As a result, ashamed of being the son of a criminal, Ivan feels unworthy to be a part of the Miraculers because of his father and is so frustrated over wanting to be a superhero, but can't due to his father wanting him to be a supervillain like him. Understanding where Ivan is coming from with what he told her, Ladybug gives him a pep talk, and encourages him to not let the pressure of his father wanting him to follow in his footsteps get to him as Ivan truly has changed for the better, and needs to show his father that. Thanks to Ladybug's words, Ivan reaccepts the Ox Miraculous, transforms into Minotaurox with Stompp, and joins Ladybug and Cat Noir with facing down his father, Akumatized into El Toro de Piedra by Chrysalis. Minotaurox personally destroys El Toro de Piedra's weapon to release the Ultrakuma for Ladybug to purify, before speaking to Raul about Ivan. Moments later, the Paris Police Department arrives, preparing to arrest Raul and return him to prison. However, Ladybug and Cat Noir explain that Raul's actions were not of his own free will since he was Akumatized at the time, and assure Lt. Raincomprix that Raul will stick to the reformation program he is in from here on out. Raul promises to do so, for Ivan's sake, and Roger agrees to let him go. The incident with Raul and Ivan encourages Marinette to try and give Adrien the letter from Gabriel, but still concerned about how Adrien will react and her own fear of her lies about Gabriel being exposed, Marinette hides the letter in her blazer and refuses to disclose any knowledge of it to Adrien, leaving Adrien still thinking of the good times he had with his parents.

Meanwhile, Nathalie meets with a secret society that Gabriel was a part of under the callsign "The Diamond". They know of Marinette/Ladybug having lied to everyone about Gabriel's fate as they know the truth, but Nathalie, to protect Marinette, feigns ignorance of any knowledge of what really happened, saying she was unconscious until after Gabriel made his wish to heal her. Undeterred as they still need the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous for their "Perfect World Project", the organization appoints "The Machine" to continue where Gabriel left off, while the last member to leave the meeting, revealed to be Nathalie's father, Mr. Sancoeur, warns her of his own intentions for the Miraculous when he acquires them, leaving Nathalie knowing that she's in a difficult position with remaining loyal to her father and the secret society, while also protecting Marinette and the Miraculous from them.

In "Revelator", Ladybug and Cat Noir oversee the rest of Team Miraculous as they attempt to unlock their adult Miraculous powers through sheer willpower like they did. With their encouragement, the rest of the team succeed in their efforts, and Ladybug dubs the team "The Miraculers" to celebrate, which they all agree with.

Later, Marinette discovers that someone is trying to ruin her public reputation by spreading lies about her to the public, including leading to her parents' bakery being vandalized with graffiti. When she and Adrien learn it is Vincent after she's shown the videos by Tom and Sabine, along with Alya showing a new one Vincent just posted, joined by Tom and Placide I.T., Marinette and Adrien join Vincent's podcast to try and convince him to stop his lying, but he manipulates the footage to further ruin Marinette's image and get her hated by Paris. Luckily, Alya, as Rena Rouge, with Ladybug's help, bait a trap for Vincent, and expose him for the liar that he is on the Ladyblog. In short order, Marinette's reputation is restored now that the truth was exposed, and Vincent's subscribers plummet with his own reputation tarnished and him loathed by Paris for duping them with his lies. Chrysalis takes advantage of this and Akumatizes him as Revelator, forcing Ladybug, Cat Noir, and Rena Rouge to engage him in battle. However, Ladybug and Cat Noir are affected by Revelator's power and cough up orbs that contain their deepest secrets. Cat Noir is able to destroy his before the truth is exposed, but when Rena uses her Mirage to create decoys of Ladybug's, when she recovers it, she discovers the truth that Ladybug/Marinette lied to her, Adrien, and the whole world about Gabriel, learning everything about him being Monarch and asking Marinette to keep the truth a secret. Rena/Alya is furious with Ladybug/Marinette, because as a journalist, lying is the worst thing she can ever do, and now she has to keep the secret of Gabriel being Monarch as well. As a result, Ladybug encourages Cat Noir to use his Cataclysm in a new way, reminding him there is always a chance to evolve your Miraculous powers even further. Trusting her, Cat Noir manages to unlock his Miraculous Cat Noir, erasing the knowledge from Rena's memories, thus ensuring that the knowledge of Gabriel being Monarch remains only with Ladybug.
