Lahr is the main protagonist of the manga Legends of the Dark Crystal. He is a Gelfling who is originally a peaceful Mounder shepherd until his village is destroyed by the Garthim, from which he starts his journey to defeat them.
Biography[]
Lahr is originally a peaceful Mounder shepherd, accompanied by Whouf. One day in a field, he sees the Garthim heading to his village. When he comes, they have already destroyed it and captured the villagers. One Garthim tries to capture him and breaks his flute, much to his anger as he uses the flute to stab and kill it.
With no home to return to, Lahr leaves to the forest and meets a female Gelfling weaver named Neffi. They dreamfast and he sees that her village was attacked by the Garthim as well. The two then decide to warn the other villages. Their first village is in the Namopo Valley, where Lahr convince people to either retreat or fight the Garthim. While the village elders are voting, the Garthim come to attack the Valley, but Neffi says that the voting result means the elders want to stay. As such, the Gelflings fight with their everyday objects and eventually manage to drive the Garthim out.
Lahr then explains to the villagers that their victory is a matter of "doing what you can", before he and Neffi leave for the Dark Castle to rescue other Gelflings.
Unfortunately, Lahr and Neffi's victory would be proven to be short-lived, as by the time of The Dark Crystal, every Gelfling except for Jen and Kira has been wiped out by the Garthim.
