Lana Lang is a main character in the Smallville TV series. She is the first main love interest of Clark Kent and one of the many ex-wives of Lex Luthor. She was the daughter of Laura and Lewis Lang. Her Aunt Nell raised her after her parents were killed in a meteor shower. In her junior year of high school, she discovers that her mother had an affair with another man before her marriage to dad Lewis, finding out her biological father is alive and has a different family.
She was portrayed by Kristin Kreuk.
Background[]
Lana had various relationships throughout the series. They all ended tragically either by breakup, death, and divorce. Her only stable relationship throughout the series after she found out the truth about his secret was with Clark Kent. She truly loved him, she lost her virginity to him and vise versa.
During their college years Lana and Clark were engaged to be married after he revealed his secret. However their engagement was erased from the timeline when Clark had to go back in time and save Lana when she got killed by a distracted bus driver. Only Clark had memories of this, in the new timeline when Lana was revived she doesn't remember anything and when she tries to get Clark to tell her the truth he lies and as much as she loves him breaks up with him. This causes Clark heartbreak but he knows it was the only way to protect Lana from her previous fate. This time when the accident almost happens again he gets there in time and saves her. She eventually starts a romantic relationship with Lex Luthor.
Her marriage to Lex Luthor was anything but truthful. Lex injected hormones into her veins to make her believe she was having his baby and semi-forcing her into a marriage thinking she wanted at first. On the day of her wedding, she secretly finds out Clark's secret and the reason he never told her as he saves Chloe from the wine cellar. She starts to have second thoughts, but when Lex's father finds this out he threatens to kill Clark and she marries Lex to protect Clark. Soon after the wedding she miscarries the baby she thinks she's carrying. During a doctors visit, she finds out she was never pregnant. When she discovered this, she was in disbelief and pretends to not know until she had enough. Telling Clark she's leaving Lex and that she knows about him, she tells Clark that she still sees him as the same man she fell in love with and will always love. She fakes her own death to frame Lex. She briefly lives in Shanghai and eventually returned to Smallville to be with Clark. They resume their romantic relationship with no memories being erased and with a bright future ahead of them.
She and Clark are loving their new relationship, but then Brainiac attacks her and she becomes catatonic. She eventually, by a miracle, wakes up but due to unknown reasons and breaks up with through a DVD. She comes back for Chloe and Jimmy's wedding. She and Clark restart their relationship, she goes through a test experiment where she gets a super suit to help her become a superhero. She enjoys her newfound powers. She has super-speed, super- strength and apparently Kryptonite absorbation.
Eventually, she had to permanently leave Smallville and Clark when she got a skin suit that made her absorb so much Kryptonite that she couldn't physically be near Clark without killing him. This left them both heartbroken, but Clark eventually heals, moves on and gets engaged to Lois Lane.
