Lana Skye (Japanese: Tomoe Hōzuki) is a major character in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.
She is the defendant of the special episode "Rise from the Ashes," and forged evidence during the SL-9 Incident along because of Damon Gant and also was an accomplice to the murder of Bruce Goodman.
Biography[]
According to her younger sister Ema Skye, her parents died in a car accident sometime when they were young. Lana then was left to raise Ema throughout her entire childhood and Lana eventually became a detective for the Los Angeles Police Department.
She attended the same university as Mia Fey, someone that she had a great deal of admiration for.
The SL-9 Incident[]
In February 2015, Ema was waiting for Lana, making plans to go to dinner after her shift. Their plan would then be thrown off by Joe Darke who busted into her and Gant's office, inciting a fight with Neil Marshall, a prosecutor. Ema unknowingly knocked Neil Marshall unconscious, along with Darke.
Then, Lana Skye returned back to her office and saw Ema and Darke lying on the floor, while Neil's corpse was impaled onto a sword. With Lana panicking and Gant arriving at the crime scene after her, she and Gant rearranged the crime scene to save her sister.
Using falsified evidence, Joe Darke would eventually be executed for both the SL-9 Incident and Neil's murder. Gant had then blackmailed Lana by threatening to expose her sister as the one responsible for the SL-9 incident. Gant had both a jar with Ema's name written on it and a piece of cloth with Ema's fingerprints. Lana was promoted to Chief Prosecutor afterwards, and she would then be forced to obey Gant's orders.
"Rise from the Ashes" Case[]
Two years after the SL-9 Incident, Lana was accused of the murder of Bruce Goodman, a detective at her police department. Phoenix Wright, a defense attorney, decided to defend her, even though Lana kept on insisting that she did the crime in order to save her sister from getting arrested.
During her final trial day, Lana was manipulated by Gant to testify against herself. After her testimony, she gave Phoenix Wright a book called "Evidence Law," which had a crime photo of Neil's corpse in it, which led Wright to become more suspicious of Gant and form a plan. Gant was then called up to the witness stand by Wright to testify about what he saw during the SL-9 Incident. With the help of the Evidence Law book that Lana handed to Wright, Gant was exposed as the real killer for the Bruce Goodman murder and also the murder of Neil Marshall.
Despite being found innocent for the murder of Bruce Goodman, Lana Skye was still arrested for forgery and being an accomplice to murder regardless to the fact that she had been blackmailed into doing so. However, Lana was relieved by the fact that Ema was not Neil's murderer as she had originally believed and smiled for the first time in years. In the defendant lobby, Lana hugged her sister goodbye, before she was taken to the precinct. While in custody, she expressed hope to one day return to the field and investigate crimes with Ema, who she arranged to live with a coroner friend of hers in Europe. It is unknown what happens to Lana after.
