Land is a supporting character in the adventurer fantasy 2020 manga series and 2023 anime series Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. He is one of the mages who participated the First-Class Mage Exam who did the first phase of the exam alongside Übel and Fern.
He is voiced by Shōhei Komatsu in Japanese and by Corey Wilder in English.
Appearance[]
Land is an ordinary-height young man ear-length blond brown-colored hair with an undercut at the back, leaving that part a dark color. He wears a pair of glasses, leading to being nicknamed as "Four Eyes" by Übel, and typically carries an indifferent. During the exams, Land wore a white outfit with what appears to be chest plates on his chest attached by three cords right below his neck, along with black a curtain attached the his surrounding from his chest, under his arm, only leaving a front portion of his body. The rest of his white attire is a long sleeve, a long neck, and buttons in the middle of his outfit. His attire finishes with dark trousers of the same color as his curtain and a pair of black shoes.
Personality[]
Land is a collected and cold man who does not show much emotions during the exams and maintains a calculating demeanor. He is respectful, carefully deliberates, and exercises an abundance of caution. He displays the strategy of often waiting his adversaries to take the initial action so that he may scrutinize them, identifying vulnerabilities while employing his ability to replicate spells to catch them off guard, guaranteeing his wellbeing. In the midst of the exam's second phase, despite losing his own escape golem, he declines to utilize Übel's, and later rescues her from the hands of her own duplicate, seemingly not caring about having his life being threatened before the second phase of the exam.
Naturally, by his quiet and not very sociable demeanor, he does not trust them, another trait of his careful nature, to which he openly acknowledged his, maintaining minimal interaction with fellow participants in the First-Class Mage Exam, with the exception of Übel. Nonetheless, there appears to be a moral compass within him, as he abstains from causing harm to others. More of Land is revealed by Serie, during the final phase of the exam, that the elf remarked him as having the audacity to having solely relied on his two clones to participate her exam this entire time, while his true self is relaxing in his hometown, far away from where the exam is taking place.
Abilities[]
- Clone Magic: Land's magic appears to be powerful, allowing him to use a maximum of two nigh-exact duplicates of himself simultaneously from many kilometers away, from his hometown. Übel was one of the rare individuals to be capable of seeing through which Land was a clone. But, what can be shown as more surprising was that nobody, aside from Serie, appears to have noticed that the real Land was never present in the exam, but his clones. His clones can be interacted like actual people, including bleeding when harmed in battle and eating.
