Biography[]
Donkey Kong 64[]
Lanky starts off the game unavailable due to being kidnapped along with Diddy, Tiny and Chunky Kong by King K. Rool's Kremling Krew on his orders. Along with re-stealing Donkey Kong's Golden Banana hoard, K. Rool did this as a means to distract DK while he had his secret weapon, the Blast-O-Matic, repaired due to it being damaged when his mobile fortress crashed as a result of his minions' incompetence. K. Rool intended to use this weapon to outright destroy Donkey Kong Island to get revenge on the Kongs for his past defeats. Lanky is found imprisoned in the llama's temple in Angry Aztec, the second level of the game. After Donkey Kong reaches him by swimming through the water, all he has to do is hit a switch next to his cell with the Coconut Shooter to free him.
From this point onward, he is available to use at any time from the Tag Barrel and collects blue bananas, blue Banana Coins and regular Blueprints. Like the rest of the Kongs, he can collect five Golden Bananas in every level and around Donkey Kong Island. He learns the OrangStand, Baboon Balloon and OrangSprint techniques from Cranky's potions, gets the Grape Shooter from Funky and a trombone from Candy when he pays each of them enough Banana Coins. He also fights the boss Puftoss in Gloomy Galleon, the fourth level of the game, where he has to use a small boat to ride through sets of DK Stars that raise electric poles from the water, all while avoiding his fireball and shockwave attacks. When he successfully raises five of the poles within increasingly tight time limits, they will collectively electrocute Puftoss, and he will be defeated after this is done five times. Lanky also starts off the battle against King Kut Out in the level Creepy Castle, but all the other Kongs are available throughout the fight from a Tag Barrel in the middle of the area.
Among other highlights, Lanky can transform into Enguarde the Swordsfish in the level Gloomy Galleon, making him the only Kong in the game to have an animal transformation aside from DK himself, who can turn into Rambi the Rhinoceros in Jungle Japes. He also appears in a cutscene when K. Rool checks in on the Kongs' progress, during which he witnesses Lanky easily evading and teasing a couple of Kremlings by using the OrangStand to walk along the walls, which culminates with one of the Kremlings trying to climb up the walls after him, only to quickly fall and crash back down on the ground.
After the Kongs make it to Hideout Helm, stop the Blast-O-Matic in the time Snide provides them using the Blueprints they collected and confront King K. Rool in his airship, which was grounded by the freed K. Lumsy, they each take turns fighting him in a boxing arena. Lanky is the third Kong to battle him, during which he must use his stretchy punches to hit switches outside of the arena, which cause barrels to pop up just outside of the arena for Lanky to grab. All the while, he must avoid K. Rool, who still has a spotlight stuck on his end from his battle with Diddy, and is running around the arena randomly. After grabbing a while, Lanky must toss it, which dispenses a banana peel, after which he must use the Trombone Tremor on one of the Lanky pads to get K. Rool's attention and cause him to charge at him. If Lanky does this when the banana peel is right in between him and K. Rool's respective positions, K. Rool will slip and fall on it as a result, but if not, Lanky will be attacked by K. Rool. After Lanky manages to successfully repeat this and cause K. Rool to slip on a banana peel four times, K. Rool will collapse and he will win the round.
After all the Kongs defeat K. Rool and the latter tries to attack Chunky while his back is turned in a fit of rage, Candy and Funky get rid of him for good by devising a plan where the former distracts him with her looks while Funky uses a bazooka that shoots out a boot that kicks K. Rool out of the airship and off into the distance. In the aftermath, Lanky is seen celebrating with the rest of the Kongs by spinning on his head on top of a tall and narrow column and later riding on top of K. Lumsy with most of the rest of them as he floats on the water into the sunset.
Donkey Kong Country 3 (GBA)[]
Lanky makes a cameo in one of Funky's minigames where, along with other Kongs, he is in the water and must be protected from Kremlings in boats who are trying to take them away.
