Appearance[]
Larry is a tall, thin, middle-aged man in business attire, wearing a black suit with a gray dress shirt underneath, and a blue cloud-print tie. There are two dark notches on each side of the suit lapels. He has very thick eyebrows, black hair with grey highlights, and square-shaped black eyes. In his role as an Elite Four member, he also wears black gloves with what appears to be a gray compass-like pattern engraved on them. He also carries a briefcase with him.
His preference for Normal-types is reflected in his very generic and square appearance, indicating that he is very formal in what he does, just as Normal types have nothing remarkable about them. Incidentally, his wispy, avian hairstyle and cloud-print tie and unusually piercing gaze also reflect/hint at his Flying-type coverage and how he does use them as a secondary preferred type. That and his briefcase implies that he travels a lot, something associated with traveling in airplanes. His hair and expression vaguely resembles a combination of Pidgeot's hair and Staraptor's face, further foreshadowing his flying-type affinity.

Personality[]
Larry has a generally flat-effect and is monotone. He is a very humble person, constantly works overtime as a salaryman, and is often left completely drained of energy as a result. He sees himself as a normal, humble businessman, thus he prefers Normal-types, as like him, he sees them as like him: as having nothing special. He follows a strict schedule and does not disobey his boss' orders. Thus, Larry has fairly poor self-esteem, expressing surprise and confusion should the player pick him as his/her favorite Gym Leader. He is not passionate about his day job working as a businessman, he is also shown not to be passionate about Pokémon battling.
Although mostly having a morose outlook on life, Larry has an incredibly voracious appetite and is very often hungry. Though he is thin, he is a is a gourmand, always frequenting and eating at the Treasure Eatery of Medali, which happens to be the location of his Gym. He is known to love rice-balls, shown to be expressing joyful emotion in his Gym Leader photo as he dines on a massive pile of rice balls, while the player looks shocked by his sudden change in flat demeanor.
Later on, when called to the Blueberry Academy Club Room, he further expresses his passionate love of food to the player when talked to, notably the Casteliacone, which he expresses his adoration for in detail, also showing some emotion during this moment. In Blueberry Academy, Larry reveals that he also enjoys going on business trips.
After befriending Larry further in the League Club room by battling him and talking to him, he will trade the player a Dudunsparce, and open up even more, even attempting to make a joke by calling it a "Dudunspairce" due to its Tera-type, though feeling awkward about it due to his humility.

- He is also the only Gym Leader in Paldea to use the Terastal phenomenon on two completely different Pokémon: Staraptor and Flamigo.
- Much Like Bede, Larry changes his type specialization when moving up to a new rank. Larry's tie has clouds on it, which foreshadows his specialty as an Elite Four.
