Laufen supporting character in the adventurer manga and anime series Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. She is a third-class mage who participated the First-Class Mage Exam alongside Denken and Richter, where she also met Frieren and Fern.
She is voiced by Shizuka Ishigami in Japanese and by Marisa Duran in English.
Appearance[]
Laufen is a young elegant woman of average height with brown eyes and orange hair that is typically tied in a two round buns at the top of both sides of her head with a pair of white hair ties and orange-yellow tassels hanging. Her cloth of choice during the First-Class Mage Exam is an Asian sleeveless dark-blue dress with vertical two white linings that cuts her long skirt. At her chest is are two white bunny-like features attached from the red diamond in the middle of the X-shaped white straps surrounding her neck. Her wrist and hands wear gauntlets, and her legs wear boots of navy colors as well.
Personality[]
Laufen is a silent and not very chatty individual who follows the orders of an experienced mage like Denken during the exams, knowing that she has a lot more to learn as a mage herself. Laufen swiftly develops a parent-like affection for Denken, who treats her with immense care and affection akin to a beloved granddaughter, to the extent of addressing him as her grandfather and advocating for him in discussions alongside Richter.
She demonstrates compassion by expressing disquiet for the fallen mages' remains, which have become bait for monsters wandering nearby. Additionally, when Frieren subdues Denken and threatens to inflict pain on him, she refuses to depart from his side. These instances unveil her innocence and lack of experience and concern over the safety of her teammates. Throughout the preliminary and subsequent phases of the First-Class Mage Exam, she showcases herself as a dependable and collaborative team player.
Powers and Abilities[]
Laufen uses Jilwer to appear behind Frieren, Lawine, and Kanne.
- Jilwer: A spell originating from a folk mountain tribe. It grants Laufen superhuman speed and reflexes, allowing her to move at one place to another in the blink of an eye without any efforts at all, giving others the sight as if she teleported.
