Biography[]
Lavender was a Hogwarts student in the same year as Harry Potter. She was sorted into Gryffindor and quickly became close friends with Parvati Patil. In her third year, when taking Divination classes, she was impressed with Professor Sybil Trelawney, believing her to be a great seer, especially when she received the news that her pet rabbit had died on October 16th, the day Trelawney had predicted something she feared would happen. She was unimpressed when Hermione Granger tried to argue the accuracy of the prophecy. During the Triwizard Tournament, she attended the Yule Ball with fellow Gryffindor Seamus Finnigan.
After Harry reported that Lord Voldemort had returned, Lavender did not immediately accept it but was one of the students who signed up for Dumbledore's Army, a secret club formed by Harry, Hermione and Ron Weasley to teach students to defend themselves against dark magic, after new Ministry-appointed professor Delores Umbridge had refused to teach them anything practical. The following year, Lavender became close to Ron, kissing him in the common room after his heroics for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. The pair would indulge in a physical but not particularly emotionally close relationship for some months before the novelty wore off for Ron and they broke up.
Lavender was one of the students who remained at Hogwarts after Voldemort's takeover of the ministry and subsequent seizing control of the school. After Harry returned and the school became the site of the last battle with Voldemort's forces, Lavender was among the students who volunteered to stay and defend it. During the subsequent battle, she was attacked and killed by werewolf Fenrir Greyback.
