Lavenza is one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside Igor) of the 2016 action-adventure video game Persona 5 (as well as its 2019 updated re-release expansion Persona 5 Royal) and a major character of its multiple spin-offs.
She was an attendant of the Velvet Room and the assistant of Igor, until Yaldabaoth separated her into two beings, Caroline and Justine, all while erasing their memories. They later became confidants to their "prisoner", Ren Amamiya, with their confidant bond eventually helping the two realize their true purpose and reforming back into Lavenza.
In English, she was voiced by Carrie Keranen who voiced of Satsuki Kiryūin and Rena Rouge , In Japanese, she was voiced by Aki Toyosaki.
Description[]
Appearance[]
As Lavenza, she took the form of a young girl with long platinum hair, golden eyes, and pink lips. Her design appears to be based off a Victorian-era or French maid, as she wore a blue dress and stylish matching headband with white butterfly ornaments and yellow roses.
Personality[]
Lavenza is a mature and polite girl who takes her duties very seriously. That being said, while she is a calm and patient individual, she can easily lose her patience, as seen with Ryuji express confusion on her explanation and interrupt her too many times or when she fails to craft a tool. Despite her seriousness, Lavenza often has special occasions of easily dozing off and being quite mischievous.
Unlike the twins, Lavenza is very kind and polite towards Ren, and often praises him for his achievements. It is also revealed that Lavenza loves Ren, often affectionately referring to him as "my trickster", mainly because of how kind he was to her other halves when both of them felt incomplete and lost.
Appearance[]
As Caroline and Justine, they both appear to be young girls with matching platinum hair and yellow eyes. They also wore the same identical blue guard dress with black skirts and black eye patch with the letter "V" (With Caroline wearing one on the left, while Justine wore one on the right).
Justine has long braid hair and a hat that spells O-Y-O-O, while Caroline has a medium hair bun and a hat that spells X-M-R-N. When combined together, it spells "OXYMORON".
Personality[]
Caroline is a proud and stubborn girl, who tends to be a wrathful and rude attendant as she holds Ren in low regards and occasionally kicks him into the Velvet Room.
Justine is calm and soft-spoken, and while she doesn't hold Ren in high regards as well, she calmly escorts Ren to the Velvet Room and doesn't treat him with too much hostility.
That being said, the twins are later able to warm up to Ren when he often completes their requests to bring them a certain Persona and eventually grew more affectionate with him than before (although Caroline is a bit of a tsundere when it comes to her positive feelings for Ren).Biography[]
Before the events of Persona 5[]
Lavenza was one of the attendants of the Velvet Room controlled by Igor, alongside her elder siblings Theodore, Elizabeth, and Margaret. However, when Yaldabaoth (AKA the Holy Grail) replaced Igor, he tore apart Lavenza's soul into two incomplete sisters, with neither remembering their past or their "true self" and were deceived by Yaldabaoth (taking the form of their master). The first one was known as Caroline, the proud and stubborn attendant with a hot-headed temper, and Justine, a calm and polite attendant. However, a piece of Lavenza's consciousness managed to break free in the form of a butterfly and left to find the one who would free her and lead him to the truth behind Yaldabaoth's goals.
Persona 5[]
The twins appear in the beginning of the game, serving as the new attendants for "Igor". They act as Ren Amamiya's correctional officers, due to the Velvet Room resembling that of a prison. They can also fuse the Personas by decapitating the components of the Personas with guillotines (if the guillotines are stuck, they can finish the job by using a large chainsaw), as well as being able to convert Persona into useful items by using a electric chair or hanging them from the gallows to transfer their power into an another. If the Persona in solitary is ready to be released, Caroline or Justine will contact Ren to pick it up, otherwise if he fails to do so, he will lose his Persona.
Confidant Bond[]
“ | It's like you forgot where you are, Inmate! You've got some real guts though! With that spirit, you should have no trouble making progress! If you have the will to continue your penal labor, we can grant you greater freedom within this prison. | „ |

The wardens also serve as one of Ren's confidants, being the confidant of Strength. In this confidant, they're a bit different from a standard confidant, as the wardens will request Ren to bring them a certain Persona with a certain skill. They are available at any time, with Ren being able to transfer to the Velvet Room, and causing the Confidant to level up does not advance time. The main problem restricting in leveling up the Confidant rank is that these certain Personas need to have the required level in order to be used.
