Biography[]

~ Sims' in-game bio. |
Lawrence Sims was born on February 4th, 1942 at Fort Bragg in North Carolina to unnamed parents, and decided to follow his father's footsteps after his passing. Sims took an interest into technology, and later received a scholarship to the Rochester Institute of Technology. Around the 1960s, Sims joined the United States Army for two years, reaching the rank of sergeant before joining the Central Intelligence Agency.
Military Career[]
Sims befriended CIA agent Russell Adler in Vietnam, and Sims is considered one of Adler's favorite cohorts. In 1968, Sims survived a Viet Cong ambush after his chopper suffered from mechanical difficulties during a mission with airman Darren Kopp. Though Kopp was killed, Sims collected Koop's knife and managed to take out the Viet Cong soldiers before reinforcements arrive to save him. Before 1981, Sims was sent by the CIA to capture or eliminate Anton Volkov, an Russian mafia arms dealer whom Sims saw at a "douchebag" conference some years prior.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War[]
In 1981, Sims was recruited into joining Adler's team to stop Perseus, being recruited alongside MI6 agent Helen Park, and CIA agents Eleazar "Lazar" Azoulay, Alex Mason, and Frank Woods. Sims is informed by Adler and Park that they programed Perseus' close associate and agent, whom survived being killed by Arash Kadivar in Turkey. Adler and Park use the MK ultra program to brainwash the agent, giving him implanted memories of serving in Vietnam with Adler, and is given the code name "Bell". Meeting with the team at the CIA safehouse in Germany, Sims is tasked with giving the team gear and equipment, and can tell "Bell" that he has connections longer than the Berlin wall. Adler first has "Bell" recall Operation Fracture Jaw, where Adler and Sims found intel on Soviet activity in Vietnam and information on Perseus.
"Bell" managed to decode the intel and gets stuck on the name of Volkov, leading the team to go after him and his chief courier Franz Kraus. The team succeed in either apprehending Volkov to MI6 or eliminating him, taking one of Perseus's associates off of the board. The team later learn that Jason Hudson was the head of Operation Greenlight, a CIA nuclear program that stationed nukes across Europe. Perseus stole a nuke from Berlin, and Hudson's superior, Emerson Black, reveals that Perseus also collected a list of sleeper agents that Nikita Dragovich programmed in the 1960s. Though Mason and Woods succeed in collecting the mainframe from Mount Yamantau that contain the list, Perseus wiped it to keep the CIA off of his trail.
Adler and "Bell" then go on an operation to infiltrate the KGB headquarters to collect the list, and are assisted by KGB double agent Dimitri Belikov. Sims also leads two operations on eliminating Perseus's associates Vadim Rudnik, a KGB major and Robert Aldrich, a CIA agent who defected to the Russians. Sims has "Bell" assist them on collecting evidence for the two operations, and if the player manages to solve the evidence, they can cripple Perseus' network.
Adler and the team manage to pin point Perseus's plan to use an American nuke from Operation Greenlight, and follow the sleeper agent he's planning to use to arm in Havana, Cuba. The team learn from the sleeper agent, Theodore Hastings, that Peruses had him arm all of the American nukes across Europe, and that he plans on having the United States take the blame from the aftermath. Park or Lazar are killed by Tropas soldiers, and "Bell" has the choice to either save one of them, or leave both of them behind. If the player leaves both behind, Sims will speak to "Bell" on helping them get Perseus's location, and oversees Adler forcefully interrogate "Bell". After the interrogation, if the player didn't choose Park or Lazar, Sims will reveal to "Bell" that they were brainwashed by the CIA to help them stop Perseus, and find his location.
No matter what the player decides to do (tell the truth or lie to Adler), Sims will not participate in the Solvovetsky Islands assault or the operation in Duga-2. However, it can be assumed that Sims got his connections to provide the team with weapons and firepower alongside Belikov, whom was able to provide them with armor to reach the islands.
Call of Duty: Warzone[]
Sims continued to serve the agency to hunt Perseus and his network.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6[]
Due to Adler's (and the CIA) unethical methods , Sims left the agency and returned to the United States Army, where he reached the rank of captain. In 1991, Sims is contacted by Adler to help him, Troy Marshall and William "Case" Calderon locate Matvey Gusev, a Russian scientist hired by the Pantheon to improve the strain of the Cradle. Reluctantly agreeing, Sims decided to participate in Adler's operation due to knowing of his questionable methods. Reaching Gusev's plane, they discovered that it was a bait made by Pantheon, but Marshall locates the scientist at a military plane across the airfield. The trio stop Gusev from escaping via a tank, and Sims apprehends the scientist after the latter reveals that the Cradle is at Vorkuta.
