Hero Overview

Curse you, Sharkslayer!
~ Lenny pretending to be defeated by Oscar, and his most famous quote.
Hey, Angie! Sorry Pop and I are late, but we brought some new customers!
~ Lenny apologizing to Angie with his reformed father are late (until they bringing some newest customers, Great White Sharks are reformed)
THIS IS ALL MY FAULT! I'm so sorry Frankie! How am I ever going to explain this to pop?! Oh no!
~ Lenny after his brother's death

Leonard ”Lenny” Lino is the deuteragonist of DreamWorks' 9th full-length animated feature film Shark Tale. He is the younger son of Don Lino’s, younger brother of Frankie, and sworn best friend for life of Oscar. Unlike typical sharks who are vicious meat eaters, Lenny is a gentle, gold-hearted, vegan great white shark.

He is voiced by Jack Black, who voiced Po from the Kung Fu Panda franchise and Claptrap in Borderlands and portrayed Dewey Finn in School of Rock, R.L. Stine in the Goosebumps movies, Ignacio/Nacho in Nacho Libre, and Professor Sheldon "Shelly" Oberon (Bethany Walkerand Fridge Johnson's avatar) in the Jumanji films, and Jonathan Barnavelt in The House with a Clock in its Walls. In the Japanese dub from the movie, he is voiced by Tomomitsu Yamaguchi, who also voiced Mater in Cars.

Appearance[]

Lenny is a massive and neatly framed great white shark presenting green eyes and positive energy. His skin is mostly black with a white underbelly, entirely covering his frontal fins and tail, as well as the upper line of his head. He overall bears the general anatomy of a shark in having two primary fins that function as arms as well as his two secondary and dorsal fins.

Personality[]

So your son likes kelp, so his best friend is a fish, so he likes to dress like a dolphin! So what?! Everybody loves him, just the way he is.
~ Oscar describing Lenny to Don Lino that he is a vegetarian shark.

Unlike the other sharks, Lenny is a kid-friendly and tender hearted vegan shark utterly opposed to the prospect of harming anyone. Prone to anxiety from pressure, he also constantly worries about allowing such fact to be apparent to his father Lino or brother Frankie. He also dislikes the Jaws theme song.

After Frankie's death, he was unable to face his father as he realized he could never be the shark Lino wanted him to be. His least favorite to be meat when he thrown up Angie when reveal the taste is killing him.

While he may not seem it most of the time, Lenny proves himself to be very loyal several times throughout the film. He was the first to figure out that Oscar was lying about being a Sharkslayer, he came up with a plan to fake his own death, he disguised himself as a dolphin so well that he was able to attend a sit-down with his father and not be recognized and was able to blackmail Oscar into convincing him to stay with him.
