Leo (레오 우드, 獅子座) is a character from Rainbow Bubblegem, serving as Purple Star's love interest and closest from-land ally.

Personality[]
Leo is a largely fearful, yet friendly boy. Whenever he is put through the ringer, he is usually ashamed of it. Despite his trouble with Purple Star's antics, Leo is still a good friend who knows how to keep Star's secret when she reveals her true nature. His adventures with Star also caused him to tolerate the mermaids more.
The pilot episode shows that Leo does not know how to swim, which would have led to his death hadn't Star saved him. Surprise Birthday Party also shows that Leo takes a while to register his own transformation into a merfolk without seeing it happen, as shown by his panicked reaction continuing until his pet KaKa swam above and Star explained that merfolks cannot breathe underwater.
Trivia[]
- Leo can be considered a foil to Alex due to his relationship with Purple Star being healthy whereas Alex betrayed Black Diamond to his fisherman friends. Coincidentally, the two look similar.
- Leo's birthday is April Fool's Day.
- Leo is the only human character who doesn't freeze when the Guardian Fairies perform a Time Stop starting from episode 4.
- This could be due to him accidentally wearing Purple’s headband in the episode Shh! It’s A Secret, which prevents him from freezing during Time Stops.
- It is also because Purple gave him a bracelet to avoid time stops in the episode The Festival Celebration.
- Leo is similar to Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid due to his role as Purple Star's love interest.
- It is unknown who his parents are and where he lives.
