Leonardo "Leo" is one of the four protagonists of the 2023 animated film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and the spin-off series Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He is the leader of the Ninja Turtles and the brother of Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo. They were taught mixed martial arts by their adoptive father and sensei, Splinter. Leo uses Katana blades to defend himself from his opponents.
He is voiced by Nicolas Cantu, who also voiced Gumball Watterson in the fifth and sixth seasons of The Amazing World of Gumball, Prince James in Sofia the First, B.O.Y.D. in the 2017 version of DuckTales, and Rowan Freemaker in Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures.

When Leo and his brothers were infants, Splinter and the four turtles were doused by a canister of mutagen, and, through evolution, became anthropomorphic beings. Splinter adopted all four of the turtles, and taught them martial arts through Jackie Chan movies and internet tutorials. The group lived in the sewers of New York City, but remained hidden from humans,

Personality[]
Leo is the most mature of the four brothers. However, he has a tendency to freak out when things get out of control. He is also a selfless individual who will not hesitate to protect New York City, stopping Superfly from destroying New York City.
One of his deepest desires is to be accepted by humans and get a girlfriend as well. He develops a crush on April O'Neil, who just sees him as a friend. Leo and his brothers' dream becomes a reality and they are allowed to integrate themselves into human society. He goes to high school and aids April in her investigations against TCRI, and prevent Cynthia Utrom from creating more super soldiers.
Physical Appearance[]
Leonardo is a mutated turtle with brown eyes and lime green skinned. However, when he is fighting, Leo's irises disappear, turning his eyes white like his 2003 and 2012 incarnation. He is the second tallest of his brothers, being shorter than Raphael. Leo wears a blue mask, cloth around his elbows, knees and wrists. His belt is dark with his initial printed in yellow on a round buckles. Leo always wears his katana on his back

- This is the first incarnation of Leonardo to be performed by an actual teenager instead of an adult. Seth Rogen, the writer and producer of the film, believed that the teenage aspect is always forgotten.
- This is the first version of the character to harbor romantic feelings for April O'Neil.
- The 2014 Michelangelo also expressed physical attraction for that film's April.
