Leorio Paradinight is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Kurapika) of the manga/anime series Hunter x Hunter. He is a young man who wishes to become a doctor to help the poor and wants to get money from being a Hunter in order to do so.

He is voiced by Hozumi Goda in the Japanese version of the 1999 anime and Jonathan Love in the English version, while in the 2011 anime he is voiced by the late Keiji Fujiwara in the Japanese version who also portrayed Japanese dub Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Maes Hughes in the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise, and Matthew Mercer in the English version, who also provided the voices of Trafalgar D. Water Law from One Piece and Leon Scott Kennedy from the Resident Evil franchise.

Appearance[]

Leorio is a tall, manly looking, fairly muscular young man with small brown eyes, black hair, and a spiked crew cut. Despite his mature appearance, he is a teenager. He typically wears a dark blue business suit, black shoes, and a pair of teashade sunglasses. Despite his mature appearance, he was still a teenager at the beginning of the series.

Personality[]

Leorio is passionate about his ambitions to become a Hunter and help the poor, although he is a self-centered, narcissistic man in doing so, wanting to earn money once he becomes a licensed hunter or "abusing" his powers to save his friend should he gets elected as a chairman. Comically, he serves as a "big brother" of the group, being the overprotective, hot-headed, and cynical individual. He expresses great concern and fury into hearing that Gon's father, Ging lacks empathy over his son's critical condition to the point that he even resorted to violence for such.

Biography[]

Leorio Paradinight once lost a friend from an illness and felt great regret that he was unable to save him due to lacking the wealth to pay for surgery. Wanting to become a doctor so that he could help the poor, he joins the Hunter Exam to pursue wealth. Leorio joins the 287th Hunter Exam, becoming the applicant #403 and passed. At some point, he learned Nen after passing his entrance exam for a medical university.

Leorio plays a major role during the events of Yorknew, helping Gon in earning money via an arm-wrestling game and aiding them in capturing the infamous Phantom Troupe, who had recently orchestrated numerous attacks within the Mafia community's auction.

After the events of the Chimera Ants' invasion and the subsequent death of Isaac Netero, the Hunter Association has made an election for the next Chairman. Leorio suddenly gains numerous favors from the audience after the latter struck down Ging with his Remote Punch ability due to Ging refusing to show sympathy in helping his son, Gon. When asked as to why he wanted to become a Chairman, Leorio simply replies that he had no other reason other than to convince the crowd into helping his friend, Gon, who was in critical condition. Afterwards, a fully recovered Gon appeared before him, overjoyed that his friend is finally back, Leorio delightfully hugs him back. Pariston Hill then asks Gon which to nominate between him and Leorio, Gon surprisingly picks him over his friend, which Leorio also decided to nominate him.

Afterwards, the Zodiacs hired him to become one of their members, replacing Ging.

He is currently a member of the Zodiacs, the top 12 Hunters of the association under the Chairman and Vice-Chairman.
- He holds the title Boar, having been chosen to replace Ging Feecs, who resigned.
- Leorio currently works with the Dog, who serves as his medical mentor on the Dark Continent exploration team.
Leorio doesn't look his age due to the amount of stress he's gone through.
