Leslie Barbara Knope is the protagonist in the NBC comedy Parks and Recreation.
For most of the show's run, she serves as the Deputy Director of the Parks and Recreation Department of the fictional city of Pawnee, Indiana. An overachiever, Knope believes the government should serve the people.
She is portrayed by Amy Poehler, who also voiced Snow White in Shrek the Third, Bessie Higenbottom in The Mighty B!, Eleanor in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and Chipwrecked, Jenny in Free Birds, Joy in Inside Out, and Duncan Harris in Duncanville.
Bio[]
Leslie is the deputy director of the Parks and Recreation Department in Pawnee, Indiana. She is a cheerful idealist full of can-do spirit, who genuinely believes that government can be a force for good; this making her stand out in an occupation where almost everyone else is cynical and jaded.
She falls in love with city auditor Ben Wyatt and marries him, and they eventually have three children. A flashforward in the series finale reveals that she eventually becomes the Governor of Indiana, and that either she or Ben is elected President.
Personality[]
Leslie is a very kindhearted person who constantly does nice things for her friends and goes out of her way to help others. Her boss, friend, and occasional nemesis Ron Swanson, puts it best when he says, "Leslie has a lot of qualities I find horrifying, but the worst one by far is how thoughtful she can be." In fact, Leslie rarely considers consequences and realistic probability before jumping into action. However, she can extremely ambitious, as in some point, Leslie is presented with an immoral way to achieve one of her goals and considers using it, but ultimately she ends up feeling guilty and doesn't go through with it. Despite this negative trait, though, Leslie is extremely affable and many of her goals are motivated by caring for her friends and the citizens of Pawnee.
