“ | It takes a lot patience to do what Lewis Howard does. Patience, and a calm, steady hand. Means it's important to remember what "calm" feels like. A feeling where your hand don't shake and your ears don't ring. Remember that "calm" feels like home. And that you will live to see it again. | „ |

Biography[]
Early Life[]
Lewis Howard was born in 1911 in Bayou La Batre, Alabama to unnamed parents, and is either the older or younger brother to Marcus Howard. Growing up in Mobile country with his family, Lewis and Marcus spent their youth with their grandfather, who would take them fishing.
During the 1920s and the 1930s, Lewis got a job as a fisherman, obtaining shrimp across the Mississippi Sound before joining getting a job in construction with the Civilian Conservation Corps. Lewis was later drafted to join the United States Army in 1942, as Marcus was presumably also drafted into the army as well to fight in Europe. Receiving training in the same year, Lewis was then assigned to the 25th Infantry Regiment to fight against the Empire of Japan.
Despite not receiving any training with guns in his youth, Lewis was able to adapt quickly due to his patience and resourcefulness he learned from fishing. He became well liked by his colleagues, and was later assigned to the 93rd Infantry Division under the leadership of James "Booker" Washington.
Bougainville Island[]
In 1943, the 93rd were tasked by the army to assist the 23rd Infantry Division in claiming Bougainville Island, and Lewis was positioned as the unit's flamethrower. After clearing a Imperial Japanese Navy camp, the unit rescued Wade Jackson and Mateo Hernandez, two naval pilots who crashed on the island while fighting Japanese zeroes. Though Lewis was initially skeptical of Jackson and Hernandez, he came to respect the two while they helped the unit fight the Imperial Japanese. Howard was later assisted by Wade in going through the barbed wire trenches, and while congradulating Jackson, was shot by a trench gunner. Despite being seemingly killed, Wade offered to wield Lewis' flamethrower to clear the trenches to help the 93rd reclaim the island. The 93rd was successful in helping Jackson and Hernandez claim a enemy plane to help the 23rd capture Bougainville.
Joining Trident[]
Lewis somehow survived his injuries, and was presumably rescued from the island by his fellow soldier and taken to either a medical camp or hospital. Afterward, Howard was greeted by SOE Captain Carver Butcher, who offered him a chance to join Task Force Trident, and Lewis accepted. Trident consisted of Francis "Kai" Lanakila and Isabella Reyes, with Howard serving as the team's sniper while Kai led the group. In 1944, the trio worked with Butcher on Operation Vulcan, as Carver received information of the Nazis' secret activity on Caldera Island.
Traveling there with Butcher flying, their plane was shot down by the Nazis, forcing Trident to parachute down to Caldera while Carver landed near the beach. Lewis, Kai and Reyes then eliminated several Nazis in the area while navigating across the island, and later rescued Butcher, whom had stumbled across a Nazi bunker on the beach.
