"I'M BECOMING ONE OF THEM!" -McQueen's heroic breakdown.

"Say thanks, and I'll be on my way. That's all you gotta say." -McQueen having "finished" the road.

"You know what, old-timer? That's a wonderful idea. Let’s race!"

"Speed, I'm speed. Floating like a Cadillac, stinging like a Beemer." -McQueen challenges Doc to a short race, the deal being that the loser will fix the road.

"I can make a little turn on dirt. You think? No. And now I'm a day behind. I'm never gonna get outta here!" Angered by his loss, McQueen is tasked with scraping up the mess he made earlier.

McQueen listens as Doc explains how he turned his back on racing due to the racing world quitting on him after he got in a crash.

Lightning takes the time to think about what he and Doc talked about.

Although he finishes the road, McQueen decides not to leave immediately.

Even though he has a race to participate in, McQueen is still reluctant to go.

McQueen reluctantly leaves Radiator Springs to compete in the race.

"Mack, thanks for being my pit crew today."

Much to his delight and surprise, McQueen's friends from Radiator Springs have decided to be his pit crew.

Upon seeing Mater arriving at the pits, McQueen sneaks away from the press to go talk to him.

"Mater, why were you yelling things at me while I was racing?"

After getting confused, Mater tells him how he spoke through Holley through his headset and saw the fight between McMissile and the Lemons.

WHAT?! - McQueen becoming furious when Mater says his girlfriend had contacted him through his headset during the race.

Mater quickly realizes that through his communication with Holley, he accidentally spoke to McQueen, causing him to lose the race.

"I lost the race because of you!"-McQueen's second breakdown as he yells at Mater.

McQueen angrily telling Mater that his goofy antics are the reasons why he doesn't bring him to his races.

Seeing how angry is Lightning, Mater attempts to apologize and offers to make things right.

"I don't need your help! I don't want your help!" When Mater attempts to apologize and offers to set things right, McQueen instead yells at him, testing their friendship.

After yelling at Mater, McQueen gets surrounded by the press.

"I made a mistake. But I can assure you, it won't happen again." McQueen talking to the press where a very saddened and guilt-ridden Mater listens to.

The next day, McQueen sadly reads a goodbye letter from Mater, making him feel very guilty for hurting his friend's feelings and making him leave.

During a celebration held by Luigi and Guido's family, McQueen does not join in on the festivities due to still feeling guilty for his fight with Mater.

Despite the other tow truck saying he was calling to him, McQueen is still sure he heard Mater.

As McQueen begins doubting on whether he can do the race, he receives a visit from Miles Axlerod.

McQueen aimed by the Lemon's EMP, but escapes unharmed.

"Mater! There you are!"-McQueen overjoyed to find Mater at the pits.

When McQueen arrives in the pits, a scared Mater quickly drives off, warning McQueen to stay away from him.

However, McQueen is stunned and saddened when Mater quickly drives away from him. But unaware Mater is freaking out because he has a bomb on him, trying to save McQueen from getting killed.

Lighting watches as Mater reveals Axlerod as the criminal mastermind behind everything. Shocked before seeing that Axelrod was never McQueen's friend and was the one who ordered his men to kill him.

After Axelrod is exposed and defeated. McQueen declares he'll let Mater come to all his races from now on.
