Heroine Overview

No, human. No amount of elixir can heal her now. Oh, sister. I should have done this a long time ago. With this spell declared, let the pain be shared.
~ Lilith sharing curse with Eda to make up for what she's done.

Lilith Clawthorne is a major character of the Disney Channel animated series The Owl House. She is the older sister of Eda Clawthorne, the best friend of Hooty, and the former head of the Emperor's Coven.

She was voiced by Cissy Jones, who also played Nora Fries in Batman: Arkham Knight and Elita-One in Transformers: EarthSpark. When she was young, she was voiced by Abigail Zoe Lewis as a child (who also voiced her later pre-teen appearance), and in the same episode as a pre-teen she was voiced by an uncredited Lily Sanfellippo.

Appearance[]

Lilith is a tall, slender middle-aged woman with pale ivory skin, pointy ears, dark teal lips, long, dark teal hair (revealed to be dyed), and aquamarine eyes. She has dark gray claw-like nails and an inverted kite-shaped sky blue gem on her sternum.

She wears a long-sleeved two-tone dark gray dress and dark gray laced boots.

In her youth, she had fluffy strawberry red hair tied in a pony-tail at the back, with eye-length bangs. Back then she wore glasses with round lenses and the Hexside school uniform with yellow sleeves and leggings, thus signifying her as a member of the potions track alongside Eda.

After joining Luz and Eda, she now wears a light grey graphic tee (supposedly from the human world) of a "low battery" symbol and a ragged skirt that reaches to her ankles, and her hair, just like her sister's, now has a grey streak in it, as a result of splitting the curse with Eda.

After living with her parents for a while, Lilith now wears black glasses, a mint green shirt, brown vest and dress as well as grey leggings with brown heels. The ends of her hair are also fluffier now.

During the Collector's reign, Lilith now sports much shorter hair which has reverted to its naturally curly and orange state. She wears a green turtleneck with sleeves functioning as fingerless gloves, a dark grey cowl, a dark green dress with a green belt as well as grey leggings. She also wears brown boots with heels.

4 years after the series' events, Lilith's hair is now shoulder-length and she wears gold oval glasses. She wears a purple turtleneck similar in design to the one she wore during the apocalypse, as well as a black coat with lilac details. She wears a belt over the coat, brown pants and black boots with heels. Lilith's gem is now completely black, signifying she, like her sister, has lost all her magic.

Personality[]

Unlike her sister Eda, Lilith is conservative, strait-laced, and generally law-abiding. She takes great pride in her role as a mentor and was initially surprised to see Eda at the latest Convention, believing she had finally decided to join one of the covens, only for her sister to laugh at the notion. Though at first she appears to be everything her sister is not, Lilith is revealed to also not be above cheating, having secretly given her top student, Amity Blight, a power glyph to amplify her magic, knowing full well her sister would do the same (although, it could be argued that since she knew Eda would cheat, she was just leveling the playing field). Lilith also seems to be rather childish as after beast Eda blew a raspberry at her, she responded by pulling a funny face in insult.

Despite her ruthlessness and not being above endangering bystanders to achieve her goals, Lilith later revealed that she wasn't as heartless as she seemed to be; though she cursed Eda out of envy and feelings of inadequacy because the latter was always better than her in the past, the deed traumatized Lilith so much that she firmly believed Belos' false promise that he would remove Eda's curse if she would capture her, only to later learn it not to be the case. Another reason for her stepping onto a dark path was her ignorance to Coven System's more sinister purposes, which are unknown to most inhabitants of Boiling Isles except a select few (ex. Eda), showing how naive Lilith was.

After seeing the dark side of Emperor's Coven and acknowledging her errors, Lilith aimed to atone for her mistakes, starting by sharing the burden of the very curse she placed long ago. Now free from the oppressive nature of the Coven, Lilith is a lot more upbeat than she was previously and is shown to be rather geeky, obsessing over things others would find mundane such as historical balausters or watching paint dry, with a passion for history in general. While initially behaving somewhat cold thanks to the guilt she experienced, her interactions with Hooty would help her open up with both of them becoming best friends.

Likely as a result of always being overshadowed by her sister, Lilith possesses deep insecurities about herself. As such, she's constantly trying to one-up others or impress them, with two notable instances being her brewing of the scrying potion to impress Eda which got her in danger with the fire bees and her cursing of Eda in order to gain the upper hand in the coven tryouts. This insecurity also causes Lilith to become a fanatical follower of any power stronger than her, as proved by her time in the Emperor's Coven and when she finds out King is a Titan, which the latter points out is a concerning trend in her behaviour. Fortunately, after being talked back to her senses by Steve and King, Lilith abandons her fervent fanaticism of her adoptive nephew and respects King's new dream of just wanting to help others. After 4 years, Lilith seems much more happy and well adjusted though notes on her blueprints indicate she still holds some jealousy towards her mentor Flora D'Splora.

Her greatest flaw is her conformist attitude, often bordering on sycophancy towards whoever is in charge. Known to be a "teacher's pet" as a child, she follows Belos blindly until his true nature is revealed, and then becomes just as much a "suck up" towards Luz when she tries to teach her and Eda magic. She even goes so far as to offer to worship King when it is revealed he is an infant Titan, something King clearly does not want. This is a clear reflection of her feelings of inadequacy and desire to prove her worth.

Biography[]

Past[]

In the past, Lilith and her younger sister Eda were exceptionally close, with Lilith being willing to share injuries with her sister and, as described by Eda, being her only friend before they met Raine. While Lilith's more straight-laced personality would clash with Eda's mischievous one, the two would participate in many activities together, such as playing grudgby, and they shared a dream of joining the Emperor's Coven.

However, when the day of coven tryouts arrived, there was only one slot available and that the two would have to duel for the spot. Lilith acknowledged that Eda's magic was far superior to hers and, feeling insecure and scared, went to the Night Market and bought a curse which would cancel Eda's magic, using it on her sister. However, on the day of the battle, Eda would refuse to fight Lilith and forfeit, giving Lilith the position. To Lilith's horror, the curse wasn't temporary and gave Eda a horrible side-effect: she would occasionally transform into an owl-like monster and lose control of herself, all whilst her magic slowly dwindles away and the owl beast vies for control of her body. This lasting curse would cause Lilith to be more neglected by her mother Gwendolyn as she searched for a way to ail her daughter's curse, with her father Dell also becoming handicapped when the Owl Beast attacks him.

Upon joining the Emperor's Coven, Lilith would be granted a promise by Emperor Belos: should she successfully capture Eda, now a wanted criminal, and make her join the Coven, he would heal her curse. Lilith would gratefully accept and fervently hunt Eda down for 30 years, not knowing this was a lie by Belos to obtain Eda's portal door.

Season 1[]

Lilith makes her debut in "Convention", where she's the guest-of-honour for that day's coven convention. Later on, she encounters Eda as she signs autographs and, noting how their apprentices Luz and Amity have gotten themselves into a duel, decides to spare Eda from the law's persecution for a day. During the duel, Lilith smugly reveals that Eda cheated by laying magic traps around the arena, but soon after Luz also reveals that Lilith secretly stuck a power glyph on Amity's neck, enhancing her spells, causing the latter to run away in shame and Luz to follow after. Eda gloats over her prissy sister stooping to her level, causing Lilith to lose her cool and attack when she starts rhyming. In the ensuing fight, Eda is incapacitated but manages to feign concern for her curse, causing Lilith concern until Eda throws a packet of snacks at her face, ties her shoes together and runs away.

Later on, Lilith manages to stumble back to her dressing room, remarking on how Eda makes it difficult for her to want to help. Kikimora checks in on Lilith with her mirror, warning her not to lose her cool before disappearing. Alone again, Lilith warns Eda that her days are numbered.

In "Once Upon A Swap", after swapping bodies with Eda, Luz uses the witch's magic to create fancy decorations in order to draw attention. While this does bring in customers, the Emperor's Coven soon arrive and arrest Luz. At the police station, Lilith confronts "Eda" for her crimes, causing Luz to realise that magic wasn't as omnipotent as she wished it to be. Lilith suddenly becomes excited and encourages "Eda" to join the Coven just as they wished to when they were kids, saying that it would absolve her of all her crimes. When Luz refuses, Lilith prepares to forcibly brand her but the young witch accidentally blasts the station open, letting her and Owlbert escape.

Later, after Eda, King, and Luz have returned to their regular bodies, Lilith and the guards confront Eda, with the former declaring that she will use force if she has to in order to help Eda. In response however, Eda simply blasts the guards, Lilith, Roselle and Dottie, and Boscha's gang with the swap spell, causing them all to switch bodies. Lilith in a dog's body curses Eda for her actions, while the dog in Lilith's body howls in rage.

In "Sense and Insensitivity", she goes on a journey to find the Bloom of Eternal Youth. When Eda discovers this, Lilith calls her aged and weak because of her curse, so Eda obtains a map to look for the Bloom and prove her wrong. The two of them race each other to the Bloom only to find that it was a trap by the merchant who gave Eda the map. However, they beat him up with little effort, and in the aftermath, Lilith tries to smooth things over by extending another offer to her to join the Emperor's Coven, which Eda politely refuses. She also apologizes for her insults. As Eda leaves, the merchant offers to bond with Lilith which she refuses in disgust.

In "Wing it Like Witches", thanks to her previous failures in capturing Eda, Lilith decides to take matters into her own hands and tries to sneak into the Owl House. However, Hooty spots her and manages to subdue her. Lilith once again asks of Eda to join her, which the latter once again refuses. However, upon noticing that Eda was looking through her old grudgby photos, Lilith remarks that being team captain, SHE was the better player than Eda. This causes the latter to become defensive and strike a deal with her sister: the two would compete in a grudgby match, and should Lilith win, she'd take Eda in without resistance. Using a makeshift grudgby court and with Hooty functioning as the obstacles, the two sisters duel again with Eda coming out on top. Lilith is horrified at her loss and breaks down, so Eda hands her her ring as "evidence" that she was fended off with much effort. Lilith is grateful but as she leaves, she warns Eda that the next time she comes she won't be alone.

In "Agony of a Witch", just as promised, Lilith soon returns with a troop of coven scouts to surround the Owl House. However, they are once again defeated swiftly by Hooty, with Lilith sent flying into a mound of dirt. Recovering from the battle, she's summoned by Kikimora to Emperor Belos's side. As she enters the castle, Kikimora sarcastically asks of the students to wish Lilith luck, to which she also sarcastically wishes them good luck with puberty. Entering the throne room, Belos inquires about her efforts to capture Eda, noting her successive failures in bringing her in. As such he gives Lilith an ultimatum: bring Eda to him by twilight, or she will be banished from the coven and (presumably) executed. Lilith ponders any weakness she can exploit but suddenly hears a loud crash. Going to investigate she finds Luz, Gus, and Willow heisting the Healing Hat to remove Eda's curse and thus decides to kidnap the human as ransom.

Despite the trio's efforts to fight back, Luz is captured and Lilith sends Willow and Gus to give Eda Lilith's invitation to a witch's duel. Eda is enraged at the news and arrives at the castle, demanding Luz back to which Lilith agrees providing she joins the Coven, which would allow Eda's curse to be healed. Eda denounces Lilith and claims that all the Emperor wants is to control her, so Lilith prepares for battle. Eda, announcing that being a wild witch forced her to work harder than her sister, attacks and the two battle, with Lilith using Luz as a meat shield to force Eda's attacks away at times. Noticing Eda's gem darkening, Lilith mocks her weakness and remarks the curse must be taking its toll, to which Eda taunts her at being unable to beat her at her weakest and attacks again. As Lilith shields herself, she recounts how Eda always thought herself superior and how she had to work smarter, to which Eda insists she IS better. Outraged, Lilith angrily asks why Eda was so easy to curse, revealing herself as the culprit. Horrified at her words, Lilith tries to explain herself but an enraged Eda attacks and knocks her into a wall. She notices Eda's magic running out and throws Luz into the spikes below, but Eda rescues the human and, with what time she has left, thanks her for being in her life before expending all her magic to save Luz before transforming into the Owl Beast. Lilith smugly captures Eda but is attacked by Luz who she shrugs off. As she brings Eda in and closes the drawbridge, she tells Luz to go back to her own world as Eda's with her real family.

In "Young Blood, Old Souls", back in the throne room, beast Eda begins wrecking the decorations, forcing Lilith to trap her in a bubble, consoling her sister with her promises to no avail. Belos arrives and Eda breaks free, though he restrains her effortlessly as she attacks. Using a spell, Belos restores Eda's consciousness and reveals his true need for Eda: the portal to the human realm she possesses. Eda refuses to spill the beans so Belos has her taken away. Much to Lilith's surprise, Belos reveals that he won't be healing Eda as the Titan supposedly declared for all wild witches to be dealt with before the Day of Unity and as such, she is to be executed. He hands Lilith Owlbert and Eda's staff to be destroyed before leaving, causing her to finally see the Emperor's lies. Later on, Lilith acts as security for the petrification and is sent to capture Luz and King, which she uses as a cover to try and save Eda. By the time she arrives, Eda has been transferred from her holding cell and an enraged Luz confronts her over her actions and attacks. While Lilith attempts to reason, Luz refuses to relent and the duo, along with King fall through the portal. Upon hearing Luz's remark that she deserves Eda's punishment, Lilith agrees and sadly recounts the events that lead to her cursing of Eda. She asks of Luz to help her in saving Eda, giving her Owlbert and Eda's staff as a peace offering.

The trio return to the Demon Realm, where Lilith guides them to an elevator that would lead them to Eda. When asked to follow along, she refuses and elects to remain in the Coven so as to prevent such tragedies from ever happening again. Unfortunately, it's revealed to be a trap as Belos appears and tangles King and Lilith up in his vines, mockingly commenting on her betrayal before sending the duo up to be petrified. In the cage, Eda prepares to kill her sister but King stops her and reveals Lilith's pure intentions. The petrification machine activates, causing Eda to shield the duo from it but Luz, having confronted Belos, arrives on the stage and destroys the machine with plant magic, halting the spell mid-way and allowing Eda to resist it. With coven scouts closing in, Eda flies the gang away back to the Owl House.

Back at the Owl House, Lilith informs Luz that while elixir may not heal Eda's curse at this stage, she can still do something to help Eda. Thus, Lilith casts her final spell, sharing the curse between the two and reverting Eda to normal. Unfortunately, Eda finds herself completely without magic, with Lilith also finding herself feeling much weaker so Luz offers to teach them glyph magic to cope with this. Together, the Owl House's inhabitants relax as they gaze at the night sky.

Season 2[]

In "Separate Tides", a week and a half passes after the events of "Young Blood, Old Souls" and Lilith now assists Eda, Luz and King in working odd jobs to support the family as with the portal door destroyed, Eda's human junk business is forced to shut down. One day while handing in criminals for a bounty, Eda is annoyed by the low payment and threatens the shopkeeper, only for them to shrug it off as it's public knowledge she's powerless. Lilith boasts that she still maintains her reputation but soon her recruitment poster is burnt off and replaced with that depicting the Golden Guard, the Emperor's Coven's "teen prodigy" whom Lilith despises. When she attempts to throw away a poster, it flies back and gets stuck to her face. Later on, Luz is sent to catch a tiny demon for a quick bounty, Eda discusses with Lilith how she's had to give up apple blood to buy food Luz can digest, causing the latter to decide to take on the highest bounty she can find to try and ease Eda's financial burdens.

Meanwhile, Lilith successfully tears the poster off while Eda announces her plan to continue selling potions for extra cash, which Lilith declines helping out in. She decides to try and make up for her sins by making a scrying potion. Hooty offers to help her, which she refuses and goes to try and get the ingredients. However, thanks to her weakened magic she's unable to get the firebee honey and porcuspine quills for the potion. Hooty once again offers his aid which she angrily refuses as she believes she must prove herself, causing him to sadly slink away. Lilith once again faces the bees but realises she truly can't do this alone and cries for help. Hooty bursts out of the ground, proclaiming no witch to be an island and faces off the bees, allowing Lilith to obtain the honey.

After acquiring the ingredients, Lilith tends to Hooty's wounds and apologises for her abrasiveness as it's hard for her to ask for help. Hooty too apologises for his nosiness and calls her his best friend. While she refuses to comment, she gives Hooty the nickname Hootsifer making him excited. As Eda, King, and Luz come back home, Lilith unveils the scrying potion and prompts the trio to use the guards' cluelessness to their advantage. Satisfied with the wealth she earned from the adventure, Eda decides to order takeout for the whole gang and draw faces on Hooty, to which Lilith promises him she'll protect him.

In "Escaping Expulsion", Luz is teaching Lilith and Eda how to use Glyphs until Luz has to go to Hexside. While Lilith insists on learning glyphs the traditional way, Eda decides to take a more liberal approach and begins experimenting to no avail while Lilith begins to master constructing things with the ice glyph. Eda merges all the glyphs into a "super glyph" which produces an ever expanding spiky ball of ice. While initially hesitant to call for help, after the mass consumes King Eda's forced to call on Lilith's help. Combining the different glyphs with a glyph combo, Lilith destroys the ice ball and frees King, later explaining the basics to Eda as King recuperates. When Luz returns, Lilith creates an ice statue of her and Luz for extra credit while Eda creates an ice ball to try and do the same so Luz, impressed by their efforts gives them both credit.

In "Echoes of the Past", as time goes by Lilith, Eda, and Luz continue researching glyphs and learning them. Luz demonstrates her new invisibility glyph combo to Lilith inspired by the latter's history books, to which the latter boasts about her former position as lead coven historian. When King announces himself as King of Demons after she trips on his "subjects", Lilith expresses her scepticism, revealing that demons never were ruled by a single leader until Emperor Belos. King insists that he was a demon king who was transformed into his diminutive form after his crown of power was stolen but admits that his memories of his reign are fuzzy, causing Lilith and Hooty to once again remark snarkily on his presumable lies. However, he declares that he still remembers memories of power and order, calling Lilith ignorant as he leaves. When she expresses her insult, Luz tells Lilith to calm down as King's monarchal "backstory" is very important to him. Suddenly King enters with Eda and Lilith's staffs, deciding to bring them to his castle, shocking the trio.

After hours of flying, the gang reach a huge palace island which only King knows about. Approaching the palace, Lilith remarks that the language written on the gate's walls predate any known, making the site a historical treasure trove. As Lilith and Hooty explore the castle, the duo find an ancient mural of a King-like figure, causing Lilith to realise if historians missed this entire place this means King could actually very well have been the ancient King of Demons. Regrouping with King and Luz, Hooty, and Lilith apologise for their apathy and ask of King to show him around the palace while Luz, hearing a worrying sound, goes to investigate. As King tells them stories behind the murals, Luz arrives and warns the gang that there are killer monsters lurking about the ruin. While King assures her the monsters are harmless, one of them appears on the ceiling and attacks. Lilith manages to stall it with ice magic but it soon breaks free so Eda, arriving on the scene, distracts it while the rest flee.

While Eda emerges with a bad wound, she reveals that the monster can't leave the castle and that they're safe. King is confused why the monster is attacking them if it's guarding the castle from intruders so Eda reveals the truth: eight years ago, Eda found the island and hid in the castle to avoid the boiling rain and Emperor's Coven. Inside, she found an infant King stacking rocks but as the monster arrived, she and he would leave, with one of the monster's attacks chipping off King's left horn. While initially assuming King to be an animal, when she remarked King's stacking behaviour to be akin to a king and his subjects, King manages to speak, causing Eda to keep him as a surrogate son and tell him tales of great kings, which would cause him to falsely remember a past as a despotic tyrant.

To confirm the story Eda produces the horn fragment from her hair, causing King to remember his true past as he holds it. With his former life revealed to be a lie, King flees in shock into the jungle, forcing the party to split up and find him. Fortunately, Luz finds and consoles him and encourages the gang to return to the palace as it may hold more clues on his true origins. Entering the castle, Lilith and Hooty distract the monster by getting Hooty to spit out potions at it while Eda, Luz and King remove the blockage at the castle's roof. They fly up the shaft, finding an empty room but King somehow opens another room allowing them to evade the monster. Lilith notes that the room is extremely old and that based on the carvings, the creature was made to guard the room's contents. King reattaches his horn fragment and recalls that the room was his birthplace, with the monster being his old caretaker. He also recalls hearing a roar meaning "son", which meant it was his dad, who could've been the one in all the carvings. The monster breaks into the room but King commands it to stop causing the party to realise it was trying to protect him (though Lilith gets distracted taking pictures of the murals). King thus decides that he wants to find his father and so the gang return home with the monster (now named Jean-Luc) as their new pet though it deactivates by the time they reach the Owl House. After kissing King good night, Luz joins Eda and Lilith in trying to decipher the ruin's carvings and murals, to which she simply says that whatever they find, they'll be there for King.

In "Keeping up A-fear-ances", one morning after Luz and Eda get up, they hear Lilith's screams and see that she's beginning to shapeshift from the curse so Eda hands her some elixir to drink, warning her that stress makes the curse worse. Lilith realises how painful the curse was and expresses her remorse for cursing Eda all those years back, to which Eda forgives her and tells her that at least they have each other. Suddenly, the sisters' mother Gwendolyn arrives and while Eda is simply annoyed, Lilith enthusiastically greets her but is mostly ignored as Gwendolyn reveals that she has a "cure" to Eda's curse. Eda gets annoyed and sends Gwendolyn on her way, shocking Luz and Lilith at her rudeness. Eda reveals that Gwendolyn comes touting a cure each year but they always fail, causing her to give up her hopes. Lilith realises that her mother visits Eda regularly while she hasn't seen her in years, causing her to realise how neglected she truly is.

As Luz and Gwen begin setting up the latter's cure, King becomes hopeful that his dad could pop out of nowhere like Eda's mom did. Lilith, eating a tub of ice cream, cynically remarks that parents can neglect you no matter what you do and mocks him for his father not even being around to watch King hatch. Later on, the two both depressively lie on the sofa, with Lilith ranting about how she never got Gwendolyn's attention and King about how he's never even seen his father before. Thus, Lilith renounces Gwen as her mother and King decides his dad should seek him out himself, causing Hooty to try and calm them before things get out of hand. When King notes Gwen is trying to cure Eda, Lilith pretends not to care but the stress and jealousy causes the curse to activate. She searches for the elixirs, only for them to have been cleared out by a medicine-distrusting Gwen earlier and thus in a nervous breakdown Lilith transforms into a gigantic raven-like beast. Meanwhile, Eda in a rage over all of the danger Gwen's bogus cures brought her, also transforms into the Owl Beast. The Raven Beast and Owl Beast attack each other and brawl all the way to Bonesborough, causing Luz and King to take off in hot pursuit, while Gwen goes off to confront her cure supplier over his lies.

Having decided on a way to reconcile with her daughters, Gwendolyn buys a large stash of elixirs for King and Luz and confronts the Owl Beast and Raven Beast. She apologises to Eda for her irrational fear of the curse driving her away and that she will accept her for everything she has, and to Lilith she apologises for neglecting her all her life. With these words, Eda regains control of her beast form while Lilith is pacified, allowing Luz to pour elixir into both of their mouths and revert them to their witch forms as they tearfully hug. Later on, Lilith would reveal the truth behind the curse's origin to Gwen, which her mother would forgive her over. Thus, Lilith decides to leave the Owl House and return home to spend time with her parents. Hooty is devastated by this, so Lilith assures him the two can write letters to each other. Before she leaves, Gwen gives Luz the information she promised earlier: apparently another human had arrived in Bonesborough 400 years prior and that a mysterious substance called Titan's Blood could create a portal for Luz to return home. With that, Lilith and her mother depart back to their home.

In "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door", while Lilith doesn't physically appear, it's revealed that she and Hooty have been writing letters to each other and that after learning that Hooty felt unimportant when the main trio went on adventures, Lilith encouraged him by telling him as the Owl House his purpose of taking care of its inhabitants is important enough. This would motivate Hooty to try and help his friends in their own struggles, causing several mishaps though it all works out. He chronicles this in a letter that he mails to Lilith later.

In "Follies at the Coven Day Parade", Lilith makes a minor appearance as she and her mother watch in concern as Belos announces the Day of Unity's arrival on live crystal ball/television.

In "Elsewhere and Elsewhen", Lilith manages to secure a job as an assistant museum curator, causing the Owl House's inhabitants to hold a party, with some ex-coworkers from the Emperor's Coven even attending. However, after Lilith's old mentor Flora D'splora tells her that she only attended to make sure the former doesn't get in trouble and drops her stuff off, Lilith gets jealous about how Flora got to go on adventures while Lilith was stuck doing desk work. Thus, she becomes determined to make an exhibit impressive enough to one-up Flora to prove herself. While she decides to work on an exhibit on Deadwardian balusters, Luz convinces her to help her find a time pool so she could time travel and find the previous human, Philip Wittebane and get his advice on making a portal home. Using a Titan Blood-stained glove as fuel, Lilith wields a device to track down the time pools, leading them to a seemingly empty beach. While Lilith begins questioning her worth, Luz finds that there indeed are time pools present below the sand and the duo immediately begin marking them out. Luz finds a Deadwardian time pool and thus, while Lilith is somewhat concerned about the dangers of time travel, she and Luz decide to dive in.

The duo pose as "Aunt Dirtrude" and "Luzura" resepcetively as they enter the olden Bonesborough. To Lilith's surprise, she realises contrary to the Emperor's claims, the townspeople of the Savage Ages are extremely polite and friendly, with many living in harmony with each other. Walking around town, the duo come across Philip being bullied by two demon brothers, who claim that their third brother disappeared accompanying him and that he still hasn't paid his debts yet. As they prepare to burn Philip's diary, Luz steps in and stands up for him, causing them to leave. While initially reluctant to help them, Philip allows Lilith and Luz to follow him as the latter offers to help him find the Collector, a mysterious entity that helped him build a portal. On the way, Luz shows Philip the light glyph which he's struggled to find, causing him to compliment Lilith for Luz's intelligence. Using a teleportation glyph combo, they arrive in the Titan's head wherein the Collector lies and Philip asks of them to help solve a puzzle and open the door. While Lilith obliges, she notes that the puzzle is mostly solved and voices her suspicion over Philip's cordial behaviour. Sure enough, Philip reveals his true use of them: a sacrifice for the beast that lies behind the door that snatches Lilith as she solves it.

Luz enters and frees Lilith from the beast's grasp while Philip begins excavating the mirror the Collector is imprisoned in As they fight the beast, Luz tries to persuade him to help them but he sadistically remarks it was fun tricking them, laughing at Luz's terrible lie earlier as he teleports away. While Lilith accepts her fate at the beast's hands, Luz recognises it as a Stonesleeper from a time pool Lilith described earlier and thus, remembering the latter's note that they have a ticklish spot behind their ears, ambushes the beast and tickles it, taming the beast. Riding the Stonesleeper out of the head, Lilith and Luz confront Philip on what he needs the Collector for, to which he confesses he needs them for another venture. He offers to give Luz portal advice in exchange for another pawn, but however, an enraged Lilith strikes him in the nose, breaking it before the duo and the Stonesleeper ride off. Noticing Luz's sadness at not finding any new info, Lilith consoles her and with the time they have left, the duo go to study Deadwardian balusters like Lilith wanted to before going back to their native time period.

In "Them's the Breaks Kid", a teenaged Lilith makes a minor appearance in this episode as Eda recounts her first meeting with Raine. While walking to school, the two quiz each other on magical knowhow, which Eda gets all correct, as well as discussing their future ventures in the Emperor's Coven together. However, Lilith soon notices the duo are going to be late so, rushing to school, Eda sneaks her through the room of shortcuts just as Principal Faust emerges, allowing herself to be taken to his office. However, after Faust reveals to Eda that he'll expel her if she doesn't win a ribbon at IFWOT, she will be expelled and separated from her sister Lilith, with Bump (then Vice-Principal) losing his job as well. At IFWOT, Eda and Raine manage to impress the Coven Head Terra so much that while she doesn't award any ribbons, she convinces Faust to let Eda stay in Hexside with Lilith and for Bump to keep his job.

In "Edge of the World", after Luz and Hunter escape Belos' mind, Owlbert flew to inform Lilith about what happen. Owlbert told Lilith everything about Belos, Lilith was shocked to learn that Emperor Belos was a witch hunter and actually plan to wipeout everyone on the Day of Unity with a draining spell. She later show up to the Owl House to help comfort them and call herself an "idiot" for supporting him, but Eda hushes her for any distress towards Luz. Hooty then vomits a letter upon seeing Lilith and learn the letter his for King, he believes it could be his people and they might help them defeat Belos. Lilith approved the idea of going to them and send Luz, King, and Hooty to find this warrior clan that's on another island.

Eda starts crying because she got both of them involved with Belos, Lilith comforts her and promises to figure something out before the Day of Unity. Later, Emperor Scouts surround the Owl House and seemingly captured Lilith and Eda.

In "O Titan, Where Art Thou", it's later revealed Lilith and Eda left the Owl House before the Coven Scouts raided but not before leaving a map for Luz, Hooty, and King to find them. Arriving at the sisters' hideout at the Knee, Luz reveals to them that King is in fact, a young Titan, causing Lilith to treat her adoptive nephew as a god and pledge total loyalty to him. King is disturbed by her devotion and thus while Luz and Eda go off to find their confiscated belongings, King goes into town where he meets Steve and travels with him. In the meantime, Hooty tries to convince Lilith to just talk to King normally but they soon notice he's gone and searches for him, eventually finding him eating burgers with Steve. King asks of Lilith to stop her fanatic behaviour and reveals that after some soul-searching, all he wants to do is help his friends and be treated like normal, with Steve recommending her therapy as well. Lilith is successfully snapped out of her delusion and apologises for her behaviour. Later on they meet up with Luz, Eda and the rest of C.A.T.s as they prepare a contingency plan against Belos' Draining Spell.

In "Clouds on the Horizon", Darius and Raine reveal the plan to stop the Draining Spell: Eda would accept a coven sigil and pose as Raine, replacing them as Bard Coven Head for the spell which would cause her curse to warp it and stop its effects. When Lilith offers to take Eda's place as penance Eda turns her down, stating that she hasn't had the curse long enough and thus its magic warping isn't as potent. Eda cheers up the C.A.T.s by proclaiming their attack on Belos one more time which they all cheer to. Later on, while Luz and King go to rescue Amity, Eda and the rest board an airship to the Head where all the Covens will be gathered disguised as Coven Scouts and the like.

In "King's Tide", as the eclipse draws near, Lilith and Eda share a moment before Eda goes to join up with the Coven Heads to corrupt the draining spell. However, Emperor Belos was aware of the resistance's plan, and foiled their mission. Lilith was captured along with Hooty, Katya, and Derwin while Raine was brought to with the Coven Heads to complete the Draining Spell which dooms everyone until King free The Collector and stop the Draining Spell.

Season 3[]

In "For the Future", after the Collector stop the draining spell and King sent the Hexsquad to the Human Realm to protect them from the Collector, Lilith and Hooty broke free and tried to rescue King, only to be turned into toys by the Collector. Fortunately, after some time sating the Collector by playing with him, King would come across a puppetised Lilith and would get the Collector to turn her back. Lilith would then remain with her sister, brewing elixirs in her cage in order to prevent Eda's cage from acting up. At some point Lilith also cut her hair to its original orange and curly form, likely from a result of being attacked by an enraged Owl Beast.

After a few months of the Collector's rule, King would come back to Eda's cage holding a puppetised Hooty. Hooty manages to recognise Lilith's voice, to which his best friend tearfully hugs him. When asked if they want to King to get the Collector to turn Hooty back, the Clawthorne sisters decline as King already risks himself everyday to sate the Collector, and if he discovered an ulterior motive they could all be turned into puppets. Thus, the trio begin forming a plan to stop the Collector. Lilith notes that while the tomes in the Archive House state that Titan magic could cancel out the Collector's and seal them away, it isn't a very permanent solution, to which King reveals he wants to talk some sense into the Collector and make him realise his wrongdoings. Unfortunately for the trio, the Collector is eavesdropping on them and, thanks to a Belos-possessed Raine's trickery and King's poor wording, believes his "best friend" is out to kill him. Thus, when Luz makes her appearance in the Demon Realm, the Collector believes Belos's lies and under his recommendation begins a "new game".

In "Watching and Dreaming", hoping to "redeem" the trio, the Collector abducts Luz, King, and Eda and turns the Hexsquad and Lilith into puppets, using the latter to torment Eda in a hallucination of scarring her father again. Fortunately, after Luz breaks out with the help of Amity, she frees Eda and King from their nightmares and confronts the Collector, showing him the error of his ways and becoming his friends. However, Belos manages to travel to his old castle using the Collector's stars and while Raine tries to stop him, Belos possesses the Titan's beating heart and begins razing the Isles. Fortunately, the Collector, Eda, King and Luz, who is personally empowered by the Titan after dying from Belos's attack, stop Belos and extract him from the Titan, ending his tyranny once and for all.

Later on, the Collector gets to work reverting all his victims back to normal. During this process, Lilith would find Steve and happily embrace him. When the gang returned to the Owl House, the Collector would produce Hooty and revert his spell. Hooty and Lilith are overjoyed to see each other and share a tearful embrace, much to the awkwardness of the others. Lilith would soon introduce Hooty to Luz's mother Camila as the gang rest from their adventures.

During the epilogue 4 years later, it's revealed that Lilith has continued mentoring Amity and has Hooty as her coworker as he's retired from guarding the Owl House. The two are put in charge of building the Bonesborough Library Museum Wing specialising in Titan research, of which Hooty would be curator of. As Amity arrives delivering a historical tome, Willow and Hunter arrive to inform Lilith of Luz's quinceañera, so she transforms into her harpy form to pick up Raine and Eda, attending the party to surprise Luz. She later bids farewell to the audience with most of the cast.

Trivia[]

  • When she was younger Lilith was in the Hexside school choir, until Eda pranked the choir by replacing their music books with the incantation to summon a horde of demonic music critic rats, resulting in the choir's disbandment.
  • Despite appearances, Lilith is actually older than Eda, with their age gap being 2 years. Eda's aged appearance is actually a result of her curse as she mentions that wrinkles and gray hair are signs of its growing power.
  • As revealed by her voice actress, Lilith is aromantic-asexual, meaning she feels no desire for romantic or sexual relationships.
  • Due to an animation oversight, Lilith lacks her Coven Sigil on her wrist for the entirety of season 2. Lilith's voice actress, Cissy Jones, joked that Belos hated Lilith enough to not giver her an actual Sigil, or that she somehow removed it.
  • It's noted that despite being Head Witch and being in charge of most of the paperwork, Lilith was left in the dark for many of the Emperor's Coven's activities. While Lilith attributes this to her not being very good at her job, it's also likely that Belos, aware of the time loop in "Elsewhere and Elsewhen", chose to specifically withhold key information from her for when she inevitably betrays him.
  • Despite Eda mentioning Lilith's curse hasn't developed enough to decay magic, it's shown that she lost almost all her magic immediately after sharing the curse with Eda. Thus, it's shown once again that Eda's magic was much more potent than Lilith's and could resist the curse for longer.
  • Thanks to the show's creator Dana Terrace allowing her fans to name Lilith's unnamed palisman in a livestream, Lilith's palisman is now dubiously named Mike Socks.
  • According to some art by Dana Terrace, Lilith used to take boxing classes until Belos forced her to cancel them by assigning her to morning patrol shifts, likely to prevent her from delivering an even stronger blow to his younger self when she defects from the Emperor's Coven later on.
