Lin Ling (in Chinese: 林凌), also known as Nice, and later adopting his own hero identity "The Commoner", is one of the main protagonists of the 2025 superhero donghua anthology television series To Be Hero X, the third instalment in the To Be Hero franchise.
Lin was a marketer for superhero agency Treeman who, after the suicide of the hero Nice, was chosen to take on the mantle of Nice. Considered a flawless paragon by the public, Nice was the tenth-ranked hero.
He is voiced by Jiangshan Gu in Chinese, by Natsuki Hanae in Japanese, and by Mauricio Ortiz-Segura in English.
Appearance[]
Before assuming the role as Nice, Lin Ling had dark brown hair, dark eyes, a skin tone that was slightly darker than Nice, and a higher-pitched voice than Nice. Due to Lin Ling's face resembling Nice's so closely, he was chosen to replace him after his suicide and slowly gained the Trust of those who had supported Nice in the past, eventually filling his role entirely.
As Nice, he is seen as a tall, athletic young adult with styled white hair, powder-blue eyes, and a clean white costume bordered in gold. His costume includes a cape, boots, and a blue gem on his chest that siphons Trust. He also possesses the power to conjure up golden wrist gauntlets to fight up close if necessary.
After having shed the Nice persona, Lin Ling is back to his lighter brown hair and now dons a white streak. As the new "The Commoner" persona, he sheds the flamboyant outfit for a black-and-white tracksuit, fingerless gloves, and a sun-adorned white belt, which fully encapsulates and symbolizes the shedding of the false-hero role as Nice.
