~ Linda Flynn |
Linda Flynn-Fletcher is a supporting character of the Phineas and Ferb franchise.
She is the matriarch of the Flynn-Fletcher family who tries to make sure that their household is safe from any sort of risky situation, where she has her daughter Candace be also in charge of that situation. She is also the wife of Lawrence Fletcher, the biological mother of Phineas Flynn, and the stepmother of Ferb Fletcher.
Candace tries to make Linda to bust Phineas and Ferb for their continously inventions but her mom doesn't believe her and think Candace is just imagining when the inventions suddenly disappear without a trace due to Perry the Platypus and Heinz Doofenshmirtz.
She is voiced by Caroline Rhea, who also played Hilda Spellman in Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. In Japanese dub from the series, she is voiced by Junko Komiyama, who also voiced Lula in Dave the Barbarian and Ms. Keane in The Powerpuff Girls.
Appearance[]
Linda is a fair-skinned lady with a neck-length red hair and black eyes. Her standard attire consists of a light orange headband, aquamarine earbuds, a golden yellow vest that partly covers a white collared shirt, some olive green pants and a pair of yellow-and-white sneakers.
Personality[]
Unaware of the large-scale projects that Phineas and Ferb create on a daily basis, Candace often drags her away from other interests in an attempt to get the boys in trouble. Each creation is somehow destroyed or eliminated moments before "Mom" arrives, leaving Candace dumbfounded and Linda reluctant to believe Candace. Linda was also a one-hit wonder known as "Lindana" with her song, "I'm Lindana and I Wanna Have Fun". That fact possibly makes her, as a singer, a parody of Cyndi Lauper, because of Lauper's hit Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and because both of them were famous singers in the 1980s (Linda fictionally). Her single is used as elevator music throughout the series.
History[]
She also used to date Heinz Doofenshmirtz during their mid-teens and that she was the one who inspired him to take over the Tri-State Area as a starting point for worldwide domination when he sarcastically stated that he would rule the world.

Trivia[]
- She is based on Dan Povenmire's sister, also named Linda.
- Her surname is not consistent throughout the series; in at least one episode, Candace refers to her as "Linda Flynn".
- She wears contacts, so the idea she can't see well due to using an out of date prescription may be why she so easily ignores a lot of the weird things in Danville.
- A few episodes show why it's better Linda is ignorant of the truth.
- In Candace's dream, Linda sees the boys built a tower and turned her car into a flying machine. This resulted in her sending Phineas and Ferb to a faciliry to crush the spirits/imagination, out of fear that they would endanger their lives; even when told by the boys and her husband that they do life threatening things almost every day.
- Linda does rightfully question Phineas' common sense, wondering how he could think she was giving him permission to alter her car; no normal child would even think that.
- In another story, Linda along with other Moral Guardians end up causing a future Apocalypse due to being unable to banning anything fun. Showing that she would be unable to accept her own faults in this case; overprotectiveness is just as dangerous as callousness.
- Ironically, her daughter Candace's voice actress Ashley Tisdale has worked on Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch, where her own voice actress Caroline Rhea was never involved despite being a Sabrina veteran.
