Lindy Powell is one of the two main protagonists of Night of the Living Dummy, the first installement in the Living Dummy saga in the Goosebumps book series, and the seventh book overall, and its graphic novel adaptation, alongside her twin sister, Kris Powell.

Biography[]

Lindy and Kris are twin sister who doesn't get along with each other. Lindy hates the fact that Kris always copies her, and she almost never can be original. When the twins were cycling with their bikes, near a abandoned house, Lindy found a ventriloquist dummy in a trash dumpster, and stayed with him. She named him Slappy, and quickly got popular with him, being asked to perform acts with him in birthday parties and other events. Kris became jealous and her father got a ventriloquist dummy for her too. Lindy became angry as Kris was copycating her again, a pulled a few pranks on her, such as making Mr. Wood (the name of Kris's ventriloquist dummy) say rude things by using her own ventriloquist abilities, or moving him from place to place, to make Kris believe he was alive. When she though her sister got enough, she revealed she was the one behind the strange things that happened, which drove Kris mad. The next day, still mad with Lindy, Kris found a strange not in Mr. Wood's jacket with the words "Karru Marri Odonna Loma Molonu Karrano", which made Mr. Wood come to life.

Mr. Wood confronted Kris and fought her, which made Lindy wake up, and just as she woke up, Mr. Wood pretended to be a lifeless dummy again, so nobody would find out. Lindy only believed her the next day, when Mr. Wood also attacked her. The twin sisters fought him and only stopped when their parents appeared. They later buried Mr. Wood inside a suitcase, but he unexplainably appeared again at their house, when their parents were out. They fought and pursued him until a field of a house that was going to be demolished. Steamrollers were demolishing the house, and Mr. Wood accidentally knocked his head against one of them, and was pushed to the ground, where he was smashed before the driver of the steamroller could stop himself. Happy, Lindy and her sister came back home, only to find out Slappy was also alive, only waiting Mr. Wood downfall so he could reveal himself.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being one of the most popular books in the series, Night of the Living Dummy was never adapted to the live action series, and Lindy and Kris never had a live action counterpart.
  • In the graphic novel adaptation, Lindy has light brown hair, while in the book she is blond.
