~ Three fairies encouraging Link to draw the Four Sword. |
Link, also known as the Hero of the Four Sword, is the main protagonist of the 2002 action multiplayer game The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords.
He is a young adventurer who, after witnessing the kidnapping of his childhood friend, Princess Zelda, picks up the legendary Four Sword to rescue her and defeat the Wind Sorcerer, Vaati.
He was voiced by Fujiko Takimoto, who also voices the Hero of Time in other Zelda games and the Super Smash Bros. series, the Hero of Legend in the Game Boy Advance port of A Link to the Past, and the Hero of the Minish in The Minish Cap.
Biography[]
When Link uses the Four Sword in Four Swords, he splits into four separate Links (Green, Blue, Red, and Purple), each with their unique personality and flair. The Links must cooperate to find the three keys that will unlock Princess Zelda, who was kidnapped by Vaati the wind mage. To check on the Four Sword, a fabled sword that is rumored to seal Vaati, a potent wind magician, Link sets out with Princess Zelda. Vaati breaches his seal as the two make their way into the Four Sword Sanctuary and flees with Zelda, taking her as his bride. When Link regains consciousness, three fairies tell him to draw the Four Sword, which divides the hero into four identical versions of himself: one each in green, red, blue, and purple. The four Links travel throughout Hyrule together in search of three Great Fairies, each of whom provides the Links with the key they need to enter Vaati's Palace. After a bloody battle, the four Links inside vanquish Vaati, resealing him inside the Four Sword. After saving Hyrule, the four heroes place the Four Sword back on its stand, uniting once more.
Trivia[]
- He is the first iteration of a Toon Link, though the Hero of Winds would do more in revolutionizing the concept.
