Hero Overview

Heh… You know, I've never actually seen you wearing a cap until now! It suits you, little hero! Take care…
~ Ezlo giving Link his trademark cap.

Link, also known as the Hero of the Minish, is the main protagonist of the 2004 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap.

He is the second known incarnation of Link, as well as the first known Link to live in Hyrule. He is the best friend of Princess Zelda. After Zelda is turned to stone by the evil sorcerer Vaati, Link goes on a quest to find the Minish, a species of miniature elves with the power to undo Vaati's curse. In the process, he teams up with a talking hat named Ezlo, who gives him the power to shrink down to the size of a Minish.

He is voiced by Fujiko Takimoto who also voices the child version of the Hero of Time from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask and their 3D remakes, The Hero of the Four Sword from Four Swords, the Hero of Legend in GBA remake of A Link to the Past and the New Hero of Hyrule from Triforce Heroes.

Biography[]

Smith, the Hyrule Town blacksmith, has a grandson named Link. Link attends the Picori Festival with Princess Zelda, a childhood friend, and they both reside in South Hyrule Field, a neighborhood just outside of Hyrule Town. The Festival's champion, Vaati, breaks the legendary Picori Blade during the prize ceremony, unleashing the creatures that had been contained in the Bound Chest. Link tries to defend Princess Zelda when she uses her magic to drive the monsters away, but Vaati turns her to stone in order to keep her from getting in the way of his schemes.

In order to reforge the Broken Picori Blade so that it might be used against Vaati, King Daltus then sends Link to the Minish Woods to locate the Minish. Link encounters Ezlo during his journey through the Woods, and he stays by his side the entire time. In addition to giving Link guidance and making snide remarks, Ezlo gives Link the ability to shrink to Minish size. Link meets with the Gentari, an elder of the Minish Village, and is informed that he must obtain the Four Elements, which are the physical manifestations of the sacred forces of earth, fire, water, and wind, in order to reforge the revered Picori Blade.

Link is instructed to take the Broken Picori Blade to Melari, the Mountain Minish elder, in order to reforge the Picori Blade into the White Sword, after discovering the Earth Element at Deepwood Shrine. When Link has collected the Four Elements, he takes the White Sword to the Elemental Sanctuary, which is concealed in Hyrule Castle's courtyard. The sacred Four Sword, a legendary sword with the ability to divide one warrior into four, is totally restored there as each element is individually infused into it.

Vaati poses as King Daltus when Link is on his mission to find the Four Elements in order to look for the Light Force. Link and Ezlo learn that the Light Force was passed down through Hyrule's princesses and actually exists within Princess Zelda after regaining the Four Sword's full power.

Vaati sneakily pursues them and, after finding the real location of the Light Force, gets ready to take it from Princess Zelda. After defeating Vaati, Link rushes to Princess Zelda's aid and restores her with the Four Sword's strength. After Vaati is vanquished, Princess Zelda dons the Mage's Cap and uses it to repair the harm Vaati wrought to Hyrule. Many miracles occur as a result of her noble wish and the strength of the Light Force inside her. With the region now safe, Ezlo departs Link and heads back to the Minish world after his curse was also lifted.
