~ Fi calling upon Link |
Link, also known as the Hero of the Sky and the Chosen Hero, is the main protagonist of the 2011 action-adventure video game The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
He is chronologically the earliest known incarnation of Link in the The Legend of Zelda timeline who is a knight in training from Skyloft at the Knight Academy and a childhood friend of Zelda. When she is kidnapped by the demon, Ghirahim, however, Link makes it his mission to save her. For his quest, he would be granted the Goddess Sword inhabited by the spirit, Fi, and selected by the goddess Hylia to be the chosen hero to destroy the Demon King Demise.
His vocal effects were provided by Takashi Ōhara, who also voices him in Mario Kart 8.
Personality[]
Link in general is a good-hearted individual that enjoys helping those around him. His good deeds make him considered by some to be a trusted and respectable individual that can be relied on for favors. He isn't entirely looked upon highly by others, however. It's mentioned by Zelda and Gaepora that, in spite of his talent, he's somewhat unfocused and lazy during his time at the Knight Academy. Groose especially would pick on him, mainly due to his close relationship with Zelda.
Nonetheless, he doesn't harbor any ill feelings towards anyone, not even Groose, who bullied him for most of his school life. He also seems to possess some form of charisma that makes him attractive towards some girls.
When Zelda was kidnapped from Ghirahim, Link developed a more serious and focused side of himself that is determined to bring back Zelda home safely, no matter what. Unlike most of his later incarnations, however, his loyalty for Zelda doesn't stem from just a sense of his role fulfilling his duty, but also because of his personal desire of ensuring his close friend is saved. As a result of this, his encounters with Ghirahim and Demise feel more intense and personal, due to the threat they pose to Zelda.
