When you were building empires, I studied the blade. When you were having council meetings, I hunted the Great Beasts. While you wasted your days at the table, writing treatises on tactics, I cultivated inner strength. And now that Ultramar is on fire and the Traitors are at the gate you have the audacity to come to me for help.
~ The Lion to his brother Roboute.

Lion El'Jonson, also known across the stars as simply The Lion, is one of the main protagonists of Warhammer 40,000. Revered as the very first Primarch of The Imperium of Man, he is the legendary Primarch of the Dark Angels, and along with his brother Roboute Guilliman is one of the only Loyalist Primarchs still active in the 41st millennium. From the Great Crusade through the Horus Heresy, he has lead his sons to glory in service of The Emperor, and together were considered one of the greatest Astartes Legions of all time. Originally believed to have been slain after the Heresy, The Lion was actually in stasis, and would reemerge over ten thousand years later to once again lead his sons in the Era Indomitus.

Personality[]

A paragon of might and skill, The Lion's name is held in the highest regard throughout The Imperium. Dutiful, loyal, wise and with a hunger for justice, he brought countless victories to mankind over generations and cultivated the reputation of what his Legion appeared as, knights in shining armor. Despite this, he, like his sons, harbored a notable sense of paranoia and could be extremely vengeful, to the point where his pursuit of vengeance could put him at odds with other figures of The Imperium. He was also notoriously socially inept, even moreso than his brother Rogal Dorn. The Lion struggled massively to read and understand the emotions and intentions of others, and was brutally honest, always speaking his mind even if it lead to insulting other parties. It isn't so bad that he doesn't know how to act in social situations, but bad enough he usually sorely sticks out in them.
