Though it be in deep sadness and pain, through storm and rain, gasping after breath, I will go on...I am Little King John!

Little King John is a major character in the Ratboy Genius animated web series, being the main antagonist of Ratboy Genius Dreams Minecraft and the main protagonist of Little King John: THE FLOOD. He is a self-centered counterpart to Ratboy Genius who was convinced by Ratboy to help him save the multiverse. He resides in the alternate dimension known as the Minecraft dimension.

Appearance[]

Little King John is a humanoid rat with pale skin and blue irises who wears a purple t-shirt, green shorts, and black shoes. He is always shown wearing a royal crown, and occasionally wears a kingly purple robe. Like Ratboy Genius, his body is mostly angular and the two have similar faces, though John has smaller ears.

Personality[]

Little King John is self-centered. He is shown to be prone to anger whenever he is annoyed or something doesn't go his way. He is proud of the kingdom he rules over. He delusionally believes Ratboy Genius "stole" Summer Solstice Baby from him even though she never loved him or wanted to be with him.

Little King John: THE FLOOD showcases his good qualities. He has a poetic, eloquent journal writing style with an extensive vocabulary. Though he was motivated by his desire for glory, he built his new kingdom to be as good as possible, as he saw treating his subjects well as a positive for himself. He and Sneezy formed a real bond through the challenges they faced, though he still sees him as someone to follow his orders. Despite being angry about the plan which resulted in the Great Deluge as a side effect, and learning that Sneezy was in on this plan, he allowed Sneezy to "speak freely" and explain since he had earned his trust. He was reluctantly willing to work with his archnemesis Ratboy Genius to save the galaxy in Ratboy's dimension so that the Minecraft dimension could be created.

Powers/Skills[]

  • The Magic: Little King John has access to this mystical cosmic force. Unlike Ratboy, he was easily able to use it from birth.
    • Stretching limbs: The primary way he uses this power is to stretch his neck, arms, and legs, and grow parts of his body in size. He often uses stretching to convey a sense of dominance over another character or express his emotions.
  • Authority/leadership: He used his authority as the maker of the law to take Happyman's factory away from him just because he wanted it for himself. TBA
  • Machine-building: He has a factory he built where he creates potato knishes. He also can convert potato pancakes into "little black squash balls", and turn "little black worms" into centipedes. When he steals Happyman's factory, he anticipates converting moon rocks into erasers, and making cheese and soap. Later, after the flood, he manufactures soap in a new factory and starts a soap business.
  • Instrument-playing: He can play the piano well.
  • Water floating: John demonstrates an ability to make his shoes grow and use this to float upright on top of the surface of water and traverse it.
  • Access to hovercraft with interdimensional travel: Caterpillar Minister gifted this to him as a reward for his great feats of heroism. This allows him to visit Ratboy Genius' world at any time and appear in stories set there.

Biography[]

Ratboy Genius Dreams Minecraft[]

Ratboy Genius and his friends met Little King John during the time when they were in the Minecraft dimension. According to Green Monster, he had recently become "quite out of hand." He kidnapped Summer Solstice Baby and brought her to his castle, where he stalked her and tried to convince her to be his girlfriend, to no avail. Baby escaped with Old Froggy causing Little King John to sing about her leaving him for Ratboy, despite them never dating. Clyde, playing keytar during the song, cheered on the Baby, and was then reprimanded by John for rooting for her to escape from him. The Baby reunited with Ratboy and they both magically flew away as Little King John tried to catch them.

Little King John: THE FLOOD/Starship Genius[]

When Little King John's kingdom flooded over and water completely covered his castle, he called Old Froggy to take him to his yacht, where he sailed along for days as the flood continued rising. On a tiny islet, he discovered Sneezy, who agreed to board his yacht and become partners with him in the creation of a new kingdom. They continued onward, picking up more survivors along the way, and after many weeks, finally discovered an inhabitable island with the remains of Ratboy's space ship, the Starship Genius, residing on it.

Him and Sneezy extracted resources from underground, including an expansion to the land of the island. The survivors got jobs, many of whom started jobs as salespeople of potato knishes. John and Sneezy were their best customers, using the knishes to play catch with each other.

A man chased after John and Sneezy, throwing stones at them until they ran away.

Little King John secretly followed Sneezy to the headquarters of the Galactic Friends, and discovered portraits of the Galactic Superheroes and a portal. Sneezy reported to Fred that Little King John discovered the headquarters and portal. John activated and enters said portal, which transported him to another part of the island. Here, he found the stone-throwing man and they played catch with potato knishes. The man introduced himself as Caveman.

John noted that someone had fully prepared for the Great Deluge ahead of time, building walls to protect the building from the flood and providing the resources to rebuild. He was baffled and angry that this person did not warn him so he would have time to prepare.

Old Froggy brought Mister Bigarms and Very Tall Friend, who had gone through the portal onboard the Starship Genius to speak with him on Ratboy Genius' orders.

Mister Bigarms and Very Tall Friend explained that Little King John's world was created by Ratboy Genius' spaceship, the Starship Genius, being sent back in time through a portal along with the massive electrical currents created by the Big Fish Boss, referred to as the Final Charge. The leftover kinetic energy had resulted in water pouring out of the Starship Genius for millions of years, causing the Great Deluge. Little King John was angry at this plan, and called it stupid and called the unknown person who created it "a complete idiot." Sneezy revealed he knew about this plan and had been sent into the Minecraft dimension to meet John as part of it. John, though angry, let him speak as he had earned his trust. John said he wished someone had warned him of the flood in advance so he could have had time to prepare, and was hurt that Sneezy had kept the information from him.

Sneezy led John to a screen, where he started a video call with Ratboy Genius. John was very mad to see him, harboring a grudge against him for his perceived stealing of Summer Solstice Baby as well as holding him responsible for the Deluge. Ratboy convinced John to help him out with stopping the Final Charge and defeating the plans of the Big Fish Boss, since doing so would create John's own world in the past. John felt as though he had no choice but to assist.

Little King John had a nightmare about the past times he has hurt people, indicating guilt over these actions.

John made sure that the portal was powered by having the Caveman throw stones at the generator, convincing Caveman despite the Caveman's insistence that it was boring. When the time arrived, John activated the portal and was transported to the Starship Genius. There, he kept the portal to the past wide open long enough for Ratboy Genius's crew to guide the electricity created by Big Fish Boss through into the past. The Final Charge and the Starship Genius, piloted by Clyde, went through the portal, creating the Minecraft dimension. John than was transported back to his home dimension, where he explained what happened to Sneezy and Caveman and sincerely thanked Caveman for his help.

The Caterpillar Minister arrived and congratulated John for his actions. John expressed concern for the safety of Ratboy Genius and his space crew. The Caterpillar Minister provided Little King John and his friends with a hovercraft that could travel between dimensions.

Miscellaneous videos[]

In The Little King John Show, he and Sneezy toured Old Froggy's Paradise (which in-universe is Old Froggy's kingdom in the Minecraft dimension, in real life it is the official Ratboy Genius Minecraft server). They saw various structures and art. Little King John remarked that a grotesque caricature of Ratboy Genius looked just like him and was an "excellent representation" of him.

In Old Froggy and the Magic Flute, it is revealed that Old Froggy and Little King John have cell phones and text each other. John called Froggy to help him find a tin flute previously belonging to Ratboy Genius that Clyde had dropped during the birth of the Minecraft dimension, now an ancient artifact. The king instructed the frog to dig down, and he obliged. Froggy found the flute in surprisingly good condition. Caveman explained its history, where one of his ancestors during the Great Stone Age discovered the flute and then had a prophetic dream where a king would send his messenger to collect the flute. John was the king.

Froggy came back with the artifact. The duo took selfies together with it to celebrate. John discovered that when he used his size-changing ability while holding it, the flute changed size and pitch as well, revealing the instrument's magical powers.
