Lois: Does it ever bother you that I am?
~ Lois Lane reassuring Clark

Lois Joanne Lane is the deuteragonist of the 2023 superhero cartoon series My Adventures with Superman.

She is a feisty, driven, and intelligent Daily Planet reporter and a close ally of Superman. After successfully landing a job as an intern for the Daily Planet, Lois is tasked with training two new interns: Clark Kent and Jimmy Olsen. The three of them quickly grow to become close friends and work together to investigate an ongoing rise in dangerous technology across Metropolis that has led to increased crime. This includes giant robots, bank robberies & prison breaks, egocentric billionaire tech geniuses, government conspiracies, and much more.

She eventually discovers Superman's true identity is Clark, and despite initially being hurt that Clark kept his identity a secret, she comes around to forgiving him and, ultimately, the two start to date.

She is voiced by Alice Lee.

Appearance[]

Lois in the series is depicted as a tan-skinned and very beautiful young woman of Korean-American descent with a slender-yet-athletic body frame, golden-brown eyes and pixie cut boyishly-styled black hair. As a child being raised by her father, she had shoulder-length hair though she later gained waist-length hair that she kept in a ponytail as a preteen.

Her attire consists of a set of small, round red earrings, and a cropped, white and yellow ringer tee underneath a baggy, olive-green coat with darker-colored trim, yellow drawstrings and some parts of the inside of the attached-hooded colored yellow. She also wears dark navy-blue jeans and white sneakers with yellow soles. In season 2, she's wearing blue flats.

In one episode, Lois dressed up in a sort of modern honbok-like style while attending the gala.

Personality[]

Lois is a spirited tomboy with a fiery passion for the truth and an unapologetic disdain for liars. She's traded her formal professional demeanor for a bold and no-nonsense attitude that's unafraid to get her hands dirty to dig out the real story.

With her adventurous spirit, she finds herself drawn to stories that unveil the secrets hidden in the shadows. Her relentless pursuit of truth is driven not only by a sense of justice but also by her personal vendetta against deception. Because she has an uncanny ability to sniff out falsehoods, she won't hesitate to call out anyone who tries to deceive her or the public.

Her approach to her work may be unconventional, but her sharp instincts and intuition more than make up for it. She relies on her gut feeling and street smarts as much as she does on formal sources. Her friends and allies know that she's fiercely loyal and won't hesitate to have their backs in tough situations.

In her pursuit of truth, Lois may be less focused on maintaining a polished image and more concerned with unveiling the gritty reality of the world. She's willing to take risks and get her hands dirty to uncover the facts that matter, regardless of how messy it may get. Despite her disdain for liars, she is shown to be willing to lie if it means getting to the truth. When it comes to Superman, Lois's feelings are genuine and unfiltered. There's no room for pretense or false facades in their relationship. She appreciates his honesty and authenticity and, in return, reveals her true self without reservation.

She has a difficult relationship with her father, General Sam Lane. It is hard for them to connect due to both the secretiveness of Sam's work and his emotionally distant personality. Despite this, they still love and care for each other at the end of the day.

Biography[]

Background[]

Not much is known about Lois' past. During a conversation with Clark in the Season One episode "Let's Go to Ivo Tower, You Say" she reveals that her mother passed around (presumably when she was young) and that her father, later revealed to be Samuel Lane, was emotionally distant with her, resulting in them growing apart and not talking much. At some point later in life, Lois became an intern for the Daily Planet, hoping to one day become full time reporter.

Season 1[]

My Interview with Superman[]

In the city of Metropolis, a blimp crisis unfolded as it veered towards disaster, only to be saved by Superman. Amid the chaos, reporter Lois Lane sought an interview with the hero, but he declined, prioritizing the damaged blimp. Simultaneously, a new criminal threat emerged as Kyle Nimbus and Rough House formed "Intergang," armed with stolen technology. Their target was Stryker's Island Penitentiary. Frustrated by an interrupted investigation into Superman, Lois, Clark, and Jimmy pursued leads on Intergang, uncovering a sinister plot involving Siobhan McDougal.

Their search led them to a bank heist orchestrated by Intergang. Trapped, Superman intervened and thwarted the criminals, despite a cryptic vision of a robotic army. In the aftermath, Lois secured her interview with Superman but branded him a liar, leaving Clark perplexed by her perception.

In Metropolis, the heroics of Superman clashed with emerging criminal threats, while Lois Lane's pursuit of the truth led to an unexpected rift between her and the iconic hero.

Let's Go to Ivo Tower, You Say[]

Lois remains steadfast in her suspicions regarding Superman's honesty, mistaking his genuine intentions for self-description. Meanwhile, Jimmy provides her with materials on aliens to help locate Superman. Perry assigns them to cover a party at Ivo Tower, hosted by Anthony Ivo, CEO of AmazoTech, where Clark plans to investigate alleged criminal activities. However, he comes across a magazine article about a flying boy from Kansas, realizing it's about him.

At the party, tensions rise as AmazoTech faces financial struggles, and Clark's attempts to question Ivo about corruption lead to his ejection. Lois, impressed by Clark's courage, sneaks him back in, and they bond over personal stories. When Ivo unveils the "Parasite 1.0" armor, Superman intervenes but struggles against the powered suit's energy absorption. Lois and Jimmy help free the guests, allowing Superman to defeat Ivo. Back at the Daily Planet, Lois begins to suspect Clark's true identity upon discovering the incriminating article in his coat, launching her investigation into the resemblance between Clark and Superman.

You Will Believe a Man Can Lie[]

Jimmy prepares for a camping trip to investigate Bigfoot sightings but finds that Clark has left for a jog and faces mockery for his Flamebird videos online. At the Daily Planet, Jimmy crosses paths with Steve, who suggests collaborating on sports reporting. Lois, determined to uncover Clark's Superman identity, welcomes him to the office. Clark arrives with an evidence board connecting Metropolis criminals using similar technology and plans to use the Daily Planet's scanner to track it. While Lois suggests involving Superman, Clark declines due to his fear of exposure.

Superman addresses citywide emergencies, with Lois following closely, attempting to have Clark and Superman together. She handcuffs herself to Superman, and they confront a criminal group using the stolen tech. After a member escapes, Superman brings Lois to safety, and they discover that the tech is linked to Agent Slade Wilson's organization, responsible for kidnapping criminals associated with it. Despite the confrontation, the General overseeing the operation allows Superman to go free, impressed by his rescue efforts. Back at the Daily Planet, Clark, injured from the battle, confesses his dual identity to Lois, causing her to sever their friendship.

Meanwhile, Jimmy embarks on a solo camping trip but is abducted by a mysterious gorilla-like creature in the night, setting up a new mystery in the story.

My Adventures with Mad Science[]

Lois and Clark, initially planning to join Jimmy on a camping trip, instead begin searching for their missing friend when he doesn't respond. They stumble upon a restricted area with an energy field, and Clark's powers weaken upon crossing it. They find Jimmy's phone, which contains a video showing his kidnapping by a gorilla-like creature.

Exploring further, they discover the mysterious location is Cadmus, a secretive government organization known for experimenting with alien tech. They come across damaged military equipment and learn about Cadmus' past. Robots attack them, and although Clark and Lois escape an explosion, they continue their search for Jimmy.

Meanwhile, Jimmy finds himself in Cadmus' laboratory, interrogated by the Brain and Monsieur Mallah, former members of Cadmus. Jimmy learns about their experiments with a black hole and their quest to create a wormhole to alternate dimensions. When Clark and Lois reach the lab and are confronted by the Brain and Mallah, Jimmy diffuses the situation by revealing he's known Clark's secret for a while. They're attacked by robots called O.M.A.C.s, and Clark opens up about his fear of being treated differently due to his powers. Lois and Jimmy reassure him and encourage him to be open with them. Mallah accidentally discovers that Cadmus' technology reacts to Clark's presence. Clark decides to stay and fight, while the Brain and Mallah venture into the alternate dimension they've created.

In a parallel storyline, the General seeks Dr. Ivo's help to harness Cadmus' technology to eliminate Superman, who has become a target for Task Force X and its leader. The story continues to intertwine intrigue and action, with the fate of Superman and his friends hanging in the balance.

Kiss Kiss Fall in Portal[]

Clark decides to be completely honest with Lois and Jimmy, revealing a mysterious platform buried beneath his parents' farm, which Jimmy identifies as a component of a spaceship. While Jimmy explores the ship's obelisks, Clark asks Lois out on a date to make amends for lying to her. Jimmy, concerned about Clark's date preparations, finds Lois planning an investigation into Clark's origins and decides to assist her. Together, they aim to uncover the truth about Clark's past and origins.

During their absence, Clark encounters Mr. Mxyzptlk, an interdimensional peacekeeper who knows Clark's true identity as Superman. Mxyzptlk tricks Superman into helping him rob a room, leading to a revelation that Lois was never in danger. Mxyzptlk then transports them to another dimension, leaving Superman puzzled and worried for Lois's safety.

While Lois and Jimmy form an alliance with alternate versions of Lois Lane from the League of Lois Lanes, they learn about the League's mission to capture Mxyzptlk. The League suspects Superman's involvement in Mxyzptlk's plans and confronts him, inadvertently harming him. Mxyzptlk escapes, and Lois secretly agrees to accompany him to the League's headquarters to uncover their secrets regarding Superman. They discover a keycard and an orb containing images of alternate Supermen, some of whom are evil, hinting at a deeper mystery surrounding Superman's existence.

Zero Day[]

Lois and Jimmy, along with the Newskid Legion, intensify their search for the captured Superman in Metropolis. They remain determined but clueless about his whereabouts, and Lois grapples with guilt for not supporting Clark when he needed it.

Superman, imprisoned at Task Force X's secret base, undergoes interrogation by the General, who seeks information about an impending alien invasion. Superman genuinely lacks knowledge about this, and the General reveals his past involvement in a previous invasion event called Zero Day. He has been preparing Earth for the next invasion, forming Task Force X and adapting alien weaponry for human use.

The General confides in Amanda Waller, expressing doubt about their mission and reluctance to hand Superman over to Dr. Ivo for further questioning. Waller, however, is willing to go to extreme lengths to extract information from Superman. Task Force X members, including Ivo, are imprisoned again but manage to escape. Ivo reclaims his Parasite armor and confronts Superman, who refuses to fight, believing he is a weapon of mass destruction sent to conquer Earth. An unexpected turn of events leads to Jimmy rallying Metropolis to support Superman by shutting down electrical devices, weakening Parasite. Superman ultimately defeats Parasite and returns to the Daily Planet, sharing a passionate kiss with Lois. Meanwhile, Jimmy discovers "File X," revealing an image of an evil alternate-universe Superman. At Task Force X's base, Waller is promoted and tasked with eliminating Superman, while the General is assigned to track and kill him using the Omega Cannon. The story continues to unravel with suspense and intrigue.

Heart of the Fathers[]

Clark has a haunting nightmare where Nemesis Omega, bearing his face, kills Lois and Jimmy and devastates Earth. This vision shakes him to his core. He returns to the spaceship that brought him to Earth and attempts to communicate with Jor-El, expressing his determination to protect Earth against any potential threat from Krypton. However, a language barrier hinders their communication, and Clark leaves the ship.

Back on Earth, Clark and Lois prepare for Thanksgiving in Smallville and consider seeking help from the General, who had previously attempted to kill Clark. They discover that they've been promoted at the Daily Planet and decide to celebrate with the Kent family. Unexpectedly, Lois's father, Sam, reveals himself as the General, raising tensions within their group. Meanwhile, a mysterious sphere containing File X is uncovered, revealing a hologram of an evil Superman from an alternate universe. Clark is exposed to a green crystal from the sphere, causing him distress.

The ship detects the crystal and deploys robots across the Kent farm, leading Sam to believe that the invaders from Zero Day have returned. Lois, realizing Sam's true identity, goes to assist him. Jimmy figures out that the robots are vulnerable to the green crystal. Superman uses the crystal to destroy the ship's heart, closing the portal but getting trapped in the process. His father communicates with him through a hologram, urging him to live. The ship is destroyed, and Superman is severely injured. Sam attempts to shoot him but is stopped by Lois, who defends Superman as a hero. As they celebrate Thanksgiving, Jimmy reveals his newfound wealth from selling Flamebird to the Daily Planet. Meanwhile, in space, Brainiac and a Kryptonian warrior plan Earth's conquest despite its resistance, setting the stage for further challenges ahead.

Trivia[]

  • Appearance-wise, this version of Lois is reminiscent of Luz Noceda from The Owl House, Lance from Voltron: Legendary Defender, and (at least in hairstyle only) Catra's Season 5 appearance in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
  • Interestingly, Lois' aforementioned resemblance with Luz Noceda was attributed to many crew members of My Adventures With Superman apparently involved in The Owl House prior, which may also explained Jimmy Olsen's resemblance to Gus Porter.[1]
  • Most versions of Lois Lane are Anglo-Saxon with long black hair, while this version is of East Asian descent with a short pixie hair cut.
  • Unlike most of her counterparts in the multiverse, Lois hasn't earned an award for journalism by 27.
  • Lois is considered by Clark to be the strongest person he knows; having a will that never breaks.
