“ | Which night are we talkin' about? I get my Felina girls mixed up. | „ |
~ Lucan to a Necromancer, possibly joking about his past relationships. |
“ | Niika: So... you've never told me you've been to prison. Lucan: Yeah... it's not something I share often. Niika: What'd you do? Lucan: Ehh it was... I mean it wasn't really anything. Niika: Did you kill someone? Lucan: What? No! I just have a tendency to... get into trouble, alright? I'm not like Kiyoshi, who knew exactly what he wanted to be all his life. I just can't see myself working a normal job- the same routine everyday. I... I'm probably not making any sense... |

~ Lucan and Niika at the Mohoa Docks. |
Lucan is the main protagonist of the Felden arc in the animated series, Songs of War.
He was formerly a thief who constantly got arrested for minor crimes. During a mining duty punishment, he got ambushed in a cave by Necromancers. After surviving the encounter, he was tasked to hunt the Necromancers, where he met a Felina named Niika and would work with her to bring them down.
He is voiced by Stephen J. Pena.
Appearance[]
Lucan wears a disorganized outfit; wrinkled and worn out clothes as well as having an armband and glove on opposite hands. He has blue eyes and brown hair. After the attack on the Basalt Mines, parts of his body are wrapped in bandages. He's equipped with an iron sword.
Personality[]
When we first meet Lucan, he is presented as a confident and laidback individual, he has committed several crimes across his life, but each time it was a minor crime and he always let go early due to good behavior. Lucan shown to have decent manners and cares for other people, this is shown when Eddy is put in danger by the undead or when he has to keep Niika safe from the burning tree fort.
Lucan also explains how he is often confused on who he wants to be as a person, he never knew exactly what he wanted in life and all opportunities at a good life were shut down to him, either due to being a human in Felden. This caused him to fall into self-destructive behavior constantly landing him in jail. He dislikes Kiyoshi for being the opposite; always having a clear path of what he wanted to be.
He has a snarky and sarcastic sense of humor, joking about milling duty and his past relationships with Felina women. Lucan always ends up with big jobs that he is hesitant to do, such as mining, investigating the Necromancers, or infiltrating the Necrobase with Kiyoshi. Despite not wanting to do them, he knows it's his duty to get these jobs done.
History[]
“ | Alright Lucan, since you continue to show good behaviour and your crimes were... once again minor, we're going to accelerate your release. | „ |
~ Marcus to Lucan in his first appearance. |
In the past, Lucan have lived an in-and-out life of prison, often getting an early release thanks to his minor crimes and good behaviour. Unlike his rival, Kiyoshi, he never knew what he wanted to be, and dialogue between the two implies a past friendship. Whatever his past life was like, it drove him down a life of self-destructive behavior which would lead to him getting arrested several times for minor crimes, always being released early for good behavior. It's also implied that Lucan has had various Felina girlfriends partners over the years, although this could just be a one-time gag.
Lucan makes his first appearance in a cell and was called to the Marcus the Warden's office. Marcus assigned him mining duty at the Basalt Mines as the only condition to accelerate his release. Much to his dismay, Lucan reluctantly accepts this mission and leaves the office, secretly stealing the Marcus's cake in the process.
After meeting his guard, Eddy, they set off to the Basalt Mines. As soon as they entered the mines, a Wither skull came flying out, causing hordes of undead to spew into the cave. Lucan picked up the skull and nearly got killed by skeletons when escaping the mines. After treating his wounds, he presented the skull to the Felden officials, to which they reacted worryingly and recall rumors of Necromancers. They sent Lucan out to find them, despite his protests.
While hunting for Necromancers, Lucan is attacked by a Felina named Niika, both mistaking each other for a Necromancer. When they realized they were both after the Necromancers, they decided to team up to track them. The next night, they managed to capture one after getting ambushed. Lucan using the Necromancer's suit as a disguise, he infiltrated Mt. Tempus, getting surrounded by Undead until Xaria jumped in to take control using a Wither Skull. Xaria assumed that Lucan was the rookie and brought him to the secret Necrobase, where the Necrolord is first seen.
Xaria called Lucan in a mission to assassinate Niika and burn her treehouse. When he is hesitant to do this, Xaria knocked off his mask, exposing Lucan as a double agent. Fortunately, Niika came to the rescue, killing the Undead and chasing Xaria away, but not before her treehouse and all her valuable information were burnt down. Lucan comforted her and explained they still have some knowledge in their heads and they both reported the Felden Officials about their findings.
Lucan was instructed to go to Fort Zuka and give a paper to the Captain Kiyoshi. Recognizing each other, Lucan is quick to leave because of his past with Kiyoshi, however the paper states that they were supposed to accompany each other during the Necromancer hunt, much to their dismay. Leaving Niika behind, Lucan and Kiyoshi led the Felden army to the Mt. Tempus to take down the Necromancers, only to find out that they had already left. When they returned, they were met with a horrifying scene of Riverstead in flames and ruins, starting the Felden-Necromancer War.

- It's implied in the subtext of the first season of Songs of War and it's unpublished two seasons that Lucan had relationships with various Felina women prior to forming one with Niika.
- Kiyoshi mocks him for this in season 2.
