Luigi is the deuteragonist of the Nintendo Power comic, Super Mario Adventures.
Biography[]
Luigi, alongside his brother Mario, have been called to fix the plumbing in the castle before an upcoming party. The sewer system proves to be an absolute mess as the brothers get straight to work up until finding a pipe that doesn't belong. Upon this discovery, more pipes start sprouting with monsters coming out of them. The two brothers do everything they can to fight them off up until the leader of the invaders arrives.
Bowser demands Princess Toadstool to marry him. When she refuses, he casts a spell, turning all of her subject and Mario to stone before leaving. While Princess Toadstool give chase, Luigi looks for a way to free his brother from the curse, getting a chiropractor to perform some magic that takes a week to break Mario free. Afterward, the two work on catching up with the princess before accidentally waking up a dinosaur named Yoshi. The two are at first afraid of Yoshi before finding him to be docile. They then meet a man named Friendly Floyd who offers to sell them a translation book so that they can better understand Yoshi. The book proves absolutely useless, prompting the brothers to continue their quest until they soon find Friendly Floyd again selling make up to a Piranha Plant. Luigi thinks they could possibly get a refund while Mario wants nothing to do with Floyd again.
Luigi gets tired from the long trip to the point of having to sit down. However, Mario notices he sat down on a bill blaster, shoving him off before getting blasted to Bowser's castle. Afterward, Princess Toadstool, who had escaped captivity from Bowser, falls near Luigi knocked out. Luigi then gets a visit from some mechakoopas who deliver a message that they captured Mario and will kill him if Princess Toadstool isn't surrendered. After running into Friendly Floyd, Luigi gets an idea and has him help with it. He swaps clothes with the Princess and turns himself in, providing her time to plan a counter attack while he works on freeing Mario.
Once the Princess arrives, Luigi reveals himself to the koopalings and steals the keys to Mario's cell. The group eventually blows up Bowser's castle, and the get ready to make their way home. However, Bowser gets one over on them as he captures Princess Toadstool again, prompting the brothers to give chase. The chase proves exhausting for the brothers as they soon find a mansion. However, Mario, still in the right state of mind is quick to figure it is a trap. Luigi, on the other hand, is weak, hungry, and confused, and despite Mario's efforts to warn him, he is lured in with the smell of gorgonzola.
The brothers manage to escape the boos inside by pretending to be doctors and giving the boos therapy, allowing the two of them to escape. Upon arriving at Bowser's castle, they split up with Mario off to save Princess Toadstool while Luigi stumbles upon a hoard of Yoshi eggs. Realizing that Bowser imprisoned the Yoshis Luigi quickly gets to work on freeing them all and bringing them to save the Princess and Mario as well as defeat Bowser. With Bowser beaten, the group celebrate their victory.
