Luisa Fortuna aka Laura is a major character in Red Dead Redemption, serving as tritagonist of the Nuevo Paraiso chapter.
Biography[]
Luisa is a 19-year-old schoolteacher who joined Abraham Reyes' revolution when they were tired of the suffering they endured under the Mexican government and army.
Luisa and John first meet when John helps Landon Ricketts break her out of jail during the rescue John learns that Luisa is in love with Abraham Reyes the leader of the rebellion Luisa believes that the two of them will soon be married, but this was a lie Reyes told her as he had no plans to keep his promise because she was a peasant. While Luisa is to be blinded by love to see the truth that Abraham Reyes is only taking advantage of her and the others who follow him. Aside from not truly loving her Reyes always forgets who she is and keeps mistaking Luisa for another woman he loved Laura Abraham Reyes confirms this when he mentions why he keeps calling Luisa Laura when Ryes claims she is like no other girl he has met before. Regardless Luisa remains faithful and loyal to him even when she notices his flaws of him calling her Laura and other things about him that she chooses to ignore because of her love for him and views him as perfect.
Luisa has told John and has proven she cares about her country and the cause she is fighting for no matter the coast even though at the same time she cares for the safety of her family and het people. She is willing to anything or give up everything to overthrow the government they are suffering under. Although Luisa is the nicest person in Reyes Rebels and nicer than most other characters in the game over time the friendship between her and John deteriorates despite everything John has done for her has risked for the cause Luisa is fighting for. Luisa is still a good kind person but becomes less friendly towards John.
An example of Luisa's good heart is when she asks John to still help with some other things even when she is upset with him for helping the Mexican army and says she will never forgive him and always hold a grudge about that. But she doesn't let that grudge to her from politely thanking him or seeking more help. Later on, the Mexican army has captured Abraham Reyes is about to kill him as soldiers and rebels fight against each other in the city of Escalera John tries to rescue Reyes only for Luisa to charge into try to save them but fails as she gets gunned down without a fully thought-out plan.
This angers John because Luisa was innocent girl John kills Raul Zubieta because he killed Luisa John goes and kills the rest of the army to avenge Luisa's death and to finally kill Bill Williamson. After the rebel's success John mentions Luisa to Abraham Reyes who forgets her name again and mistakes her for Laura again. Reyes says that he will name a day after Luisa which never happens and will call it Laura Day John once again reminds Reyes that her name is Luisa.
