Lujanne is a major supporting protagonist in the Netflix TV Show The Dragon Prince. She is the guardian of the Moon Nexus, who uses illusions to scare people from the Nexus to protect it.
She is voiced by Ellie King.
Biography[]
Backstory[]
Lujanne was the guardian of the Moon Nexus, where elves would use it to go through a bridge between life and death. However, out of fear of the humans finding and using it for evil purposes, the Nexus was destroyed. For the next few decades, Lujanne would create illusions to scare intruders that came close of the Nexus off.
One day, a human girl named Ellis came close to the Nexus with her injured dog named Ada, and understanding that they needed, Lujanne created an illusion of a leg and put it on Ava to make it look like she was fine in everyones eyes. During her life, Lujanne also married at least three men before breaking up with them for unknown reasons.
The Dragon Prince[]
Lujanne would try to scare Callum, Rayla, and Ezran off with her illusions, but Ezran realized her trickery and made them realize that the mosters she made were not real. She would later appear to see the egg of the Dragon Prince and tried to take care of it, but realized that it was dying.
To make sure the egg would not die and instead hatched, Callum used Fulminis to make the egg hatch, but it caused a wind that nearly threw it off the mountain, but Rayla saved it and it hatched. Lujanne would later take care of them and made breakfast for them, which were grubs that were turned into illusions.
Rayla would ask Lujanne for advice on how to talk to Callum, and Lujanne told her to say what he wants to make him feel better. After Soren and Claudia came to the Moon Nexus and Rayla started distrusting them, Lujanne created to make sure they wouldn't hurt her friends.
Lujanne would later help Ezran escape from prison after he was arrested after he gave up at being king to protect Katolis, and would have Phoe-Phoe take him to the Storm Spire, although she would later die from tiredness. She also met a man named Allen and the two started dating.
In Through the Moon, Lujanne made a ceremony for Phoe-Phoe so she could be reborn from a feather that Ezran got after she died, with the ceremony being successful and Phoe-Phoe coming back to life as a baby. In the same day, Callum came to talk to Lujanne and asked how he could reconsile with Rayla after the two have an argument.
Lujanne would tell Callum to give an illusion to her, as her relationships with her ex-husbands made her think that creating an illusion and lying to give the people she loved what they wanted as the best way to protect them. Callum, however, refused this, and for the next few weeks, they would create the Moon Nexus's bridge so Rayla could see if Runnan, her parents, and Viren were alive or dead, by lying to Allen that the bridge was a suprise for Lujanne.
After Rayla went into the bridge and became unconscious in the real world, Lujanne found out that the bridge was activated and came to Callum, whom she stopped from crossing the bridge to save Rayla, since it would also trap him in it as well.
Despite this, Ezran gave one of Phoe-Phoe's feathers to Callum to save Rayla, and after doing so, Lujanne is seen happy while Callum and Rayla kissed each other after they escaped from the bridge. Two years later, Lujanne is seen getting a massage from Allen before they hear Phoe-Phoe's calling them about people nearby, with them seeing that it was Callum and Rayla.
She welcomes them, with Rayla calling Lujanne out when she mistakes her name. They then ask for her help to get the loved ones of Rayla out of their cursed coins, while showing her the quasar diamonds that would make them be able to do so, with Lujanne interrupting their request to ask them if they are dating again, with them affirming it. Right after, Lujanne notices the illusion behind one of the quasar diamonds and sees it is just a regular gem.
With this, they realize that they could only get two of them out of their cursed coins. Later, Lujanne tells Callum and Rayla that the gate to the world between life an death is almost ready, and then explains to Rayla that once inside, the cursed coins would guide Rayla to her loved ones' souls. Rayla ends up getting inside it, and there, she ends up allowing the souls of her parents to leave to the afterlife while freeing Runaan out of his cursed coin with the help of Callum.
Personality[]
Lujanne is a kind person who helps people who need help, as shown when she took care of Ava when she was injured and helped in rescuing Ezran when he was imprisoned and had Phoe-Phoe take him to the Storm Spire.
Lujanne also is great at illusions and lying, and uses to make people better and protect the Moon Nexus, and likes to use them to trick humans and says to Callum that she refuses to kill people and instead uses illusions to melt their minds. Being a master illusionist, Lujanne is also able to easily detect the illusions of others. Lujanne is also shown to be wise, as she gives good advice to Callum and Rayla when they need it.
Lujanne, despite being made clear to care for humans and loves Allen, has some level of distrust towards them, as she refused to remake the Moon Nexus' bridge to a place between life and death because she believed humans would abuse it, and understimated Callum when he wanted to learn magic, and again when she believed Callum and Rayla wouldn't be able to remake the Moon Nexus' bridge.
Lujanne also hates dark magic, calling it an atrocity. She also likes to meditate, as she spends a large portion of her time in her temple mediatiating, and dislikes people interupting or annoying her while she's doing it.
