Lyon was Initially known introduced as Reitei Lyon. He is one of the four Ice Mages seen in the anime/manga series Fairy Tail and an opponent to Gray Fullbuster. Lyon now serves to the legal guild Lamia Scale and is an Ice-Make Mage. Prior to becoming a supporting protagonist for the last part of the series, he serves as the primary rival of the Galuna Island arc.

History

The fate of Lyon's parents still remains a mystery, but during his childhood, he dedicated years to seeking out the most powerful Mage with the goal of apprenticing under them. Ur was the one who accepted him as well as taught him the basics of Ice-Make Magic. Some time later, as they walked among the wreckage of a town destroyed by Deliora, both he and Ur discovered the only person left alive in the town, Gray. Lyon was unhappy about it, but they accepted him and trained together. Gray chased after Demon Deliora, with both Ur and Lyon following him. Lyon tried to use Iced Shell because he thought Ur wasn't taking the Demon seriously. Ur promptly froze him, causing him to lose consciousness, then proceeded to sacrifice herself with the exact same spell. Ur's body froze and killed Deliora as she requested Gray to lie to Lyon about her death to prevent him from trying to thaw the ice and surpass her. Presumably following that, Lyon as well as his training partners parted ways. Lyon spent ten years accumulating knowledge as well as building a team. Upon discovering Galuna Island, he transported the frozen Deliora there, 3 years before the current events.

Personality

In spite of usually being calm and collected, Lyon had previously been overly ambitious and is very dedicated to his goals and aspirations. He takes great pride in his abilities and is extremely proud of having them. This motivated him to attempt bringing back the Demon Deliora, aiming to outdo his teacher Ur, who sacrificed herself to freeze the Demon forever. Lyon also contains a tendency to let his emotions get the best of him. After becoming a member of Lamia Scale, he has become more relaxed, and yet he still holds onto his impulsive tendencies. In the midst of the Allied Forces' gathering, he quickly follows Natsu Dragneel into the forest towards what is believed to be Oración Seis' main base, with zero strategy in mind. He also demonstrates some level of arrogance, as seen in the Grand Magic Games Arc while conversing with Sherria about his teammate Jura. Nevertheless, Lyon is heavily sharp and perceptive when it really matters. By observing the birds in the sky, he managed to reveal Racer's vulnerability. Similar to Gray, he disregarded Sherry's clear feelings for him. He is also recognized to hold resentment to Gray. He sees himself as better than Gray and creates every effort to show his superiority.

• Lyon certainly enjoys Ur as one of his preferences. He owns a preference against Gray.
• Lyon as well as his group were featured on the front cover of Sorcerer Magazine at one time.
• It is said that the Edolas version of Lyon wears a good amount of layers of clothes and has feelings for a girl who doesn't notice him, just like Gray Surge.
  • Juvia is unmasked as the culprit in the manga series.
  • Two followers of Lyon have Edolas versions and are approached by Natsu, Happy, Wendy, as well as Carla, but they flee in fear after using magic.
• Within the extra content of Volume 32, Mashima gave the battle statistics for 31 out of the 40 X791 participants in the Grand Magic Games. The statistics weren't presented from the perspective of Mashima as the author, but rather from the viewpoint of Sorcerer Magazine journalist Jason. This is why certain statistics are unavailable and why others could be incorrect. Jason from Sorcerer Magazine reported that Lyon's statistics were unveiled during his involvement in the X791 Grand Magic Games.
• In the Sorcerer Magazine's poll in X784, Lyon placed 3rd in The Wizard I'd Like To Be My Boyfriend contest, with Hibiki Lates as well as Siegrain (Jellal Fernandes) taking 1st and 2nd place.
