Maggie Greene is a major character in Image Comics, The Walking Dead.
Maggie is the daughter of Hershel Greene, she worked as a farmhand for her father farm alongside her six siblings. However when the zombie apocoylpse arrives she is forced to survive in a harsh new world alonside Rick Grimes and his group. She eventually strikes a relationship with Glenn Rhee and soons marries him and has a child named after her father. She also adopts Sophia Peletier following her mother's suicide. However tragedy would strike when she would lose her entire family to the Governer's onsluaght and later her husband at the hands of the tyrannical Negan Smith. Despite her losses she went on to become the leader of the Hiltop Colony and a conerstone for Rick's quest to restore society. Twenty-five years after Rick's death she would become the president of the Commonwealth leading the newly restored world.
Appearance[]
Maggie first appeared as a beatiful young woman with shoulder length black hair. For her attire she wore a plad jacket with a scarf and black work jeans. Later on when the group stays at the Prision she cuts her hair short and wears a orange prison uniform. Later on when she becomes the leader of the Hiltop she wears a blue short sleeved dress shirt with blue jeans and she let her hair grow out again. In the twenty-five year time skip a now fourty-nine year old Maggie was shown to be much more aged and wrinkled. For her attire as the president of the Common Wealth she wore a plad blazer, a white dress shirt a gray knee length skirt and black heels.
Personality[]
Maggie was at first shown to be sarcastic, moody and cynical being annoyed with the work she had to do around the farm. She was even annoyed by her father's extreme religious standards and thought of them as a joke. Maggie is soon revealed to be rather perverted and lustful having intiated a purely sexual relationship with Glenn out of boredom and even claimed she only did so because she was desperate and there weren't many options.
However it's soon revealed that despite her rough exterior she deeply cared about her family. She rushed to help save Hershel, Lacy and Arnold and even attackted Glenn when he tried to stop her. She also became enraged when her little sisters Susie and Rachel were murdered by Thomas Richards and shot him to death of of pure rage. Eventually she comes to genuinely and deeply love Glenn, with the two of them ultimately getting married and even planning on having a child. However tragedy would strike when Billy and Hershel ultimately died at the hands of the Governer, essentially making her the last of her family. The loss of her family coupled with her failures to get preganant resulted in her losing the will to live and becoming sucidal. She even attempted to hang herself.
However Maggie's hope returns once her an the group settle in Alexandria and she becomes more happy and uplifiting. However things would take a turn for the worse again when Glenn was brutally murdered by Negan. She becomes angry and depressed and blames Rick for his demise, she even claims that she will never love or marry again to respect her late husband. However she re-directed her anger into a strong determination to take down Negan and the Saviors to avenege Glenn. Her first act was overthrowing Gregory as the leader of the Hiltop and helping to lead her new community to a brighter future. Maggie was now headstrong, determined, brave, mature and noble taking her role as the leader of the Hiltop seriously and turning her new community into a proseperous place. She also took charge and personally trained the soldiers in the Miltia, showing tact and discipline.
She was also a doting mother to both her son Hershel and her adopted daughter Sophia. She refused to let Sophia eat more Halloween candy and even comforted her over her insecurites about being alone. She also took good care of her son and made sure to set aside her time as leader to tend to him and even bravely rescued him from the Whisperers assualt on the Hiltop. She was still capable of making irrational and wrathful descisons. She hanged Gregory to death when he attempted to assasinate him rather doing the right thing and imprisioning him. She did this because she argued that Gregory had too many supporters and keeping him alive would cause problems. However she does cite that she never wanted to do something like that again, showing she takes no pleasure in killing her enemeies anymore. She also learned to let go of her wrathfulness as shown when she decided to let Negan live when she sees he is remorseful for his crimes. Although she only did so because she thought he wasn't worth killing and he should live with his actions. In the end Maggie's fortitude and leadership skills paid off as twenty five years later she became the esteemed president of the Commonwealth, showing herself to be a far cry from the immature and moody girl she was at the beggining of her journey.
Synopsis[]
Maggie Greene was born sometime in 1984 to Hershel Greene and an unnamed mother. She was the fourth oldest of seven siblings, said siblings being; Arnold, Lacey, Shawn, Billy, Susie and Rachel. She grew up in the city but moved to the country side at their old family farm following her mother's death. She also went to college but had to drop out due to finacial concerns.
