Biography[]
Maggie moves to her mother Erica's hometown in Ohio after her mother separated from her father. While attending her new school, she is met by four adolescents Chaz, Darrell, Andy, and Haley respectively, and she is invited to party with them. While she initially declines the offer, she ends up accepting the invitation and she is appointed by the others to ask an adult to buy alcohol for them. Eventually, she wins over a middle-aged woman named Sue Anne Ellington, and she buys them a box-full of alcohol. When a run in with the local police dampens their fun, Sue Ann recommends them to drink at her home because she was worried for their safety. Nicknaming her Ma, the group of teens began to hang out at Ma's house and news began to spread.
Despite initially befriending Ma, Maggie and her friends began to become annoyed with Ma's antics and vote to sever ties with her. She and Maggie began to suspect that Ma was stealing jewelry belonging to them, and they sneak into her house when she was away to investigate. Whilst searching, they meet Genie, Ma's biological daughter who was initially believed to be wheelchair-bound but was really being drugged by her own mother as a means of keeping her from leaving the house. With Genie's help, Haley and Maggie narrowly escape the house without Ma being the wiser. The next day, Ma pays a visit to Maggie's house to reconnect with her old friend Erica. Eventually, Maggie reveals everything about Ma to her mother as well as her getting involved in drinking, and gets grounded.
Realizing her friends were partying at Ma's house again, Maggie sneakily collects her mother's keys and drives to the house. To her horror, Ma drugs her friends and knocks her unconscious when she discovers the lifeless body of Andy's father Ben. Ma then forces Maggie to take a picture of her on the couch with her unconscious and mutilated friends before trying to hang her. Genie arrives to the basement and knocks her mother out but unwittingly causes the house to catch aflame. Erica arrives with her co-worker Stu to save the teens, but just as they were about to leave, Ma regains consciousness and threatens to toss Genie in the fire, madly ranting to Erica that she did not stop the bullying those years ago. To prove that she wasn't like her mother, Maggie grabs a knife that was lying on the ground, and stabs Ma in the back to force her to let Genie go.
Maggie and the others escape the house leaving Ma to burn in the house alongside Ben's body.
