Sergeant Marcus Griggs is a featured character in the 2019 first person shooter, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a reboot of the original sub-series. He is also a remake of the character from the original sub-series, is a playable operative in the 2019 mobile game Call of Duty: Mobile and the 2020 first person shooter, Call of Duty: Warzone. He also appears as a minor character in the Warzone storyline in the season six outro cinematic.

He is voiced by LaMonica Garrett, who also played Monitor and the Anti-Monitor in the Arrowverse. In multiplayer and Call of Duty: Warzone, he was voiced by Demetrius Grosse.

Biography[]

Background[]

Marcus Griggs was born to unnamed parents, and an unnamed uncle and aunt who had a child who became Marcus's cousin, William. When he reached the right age, Marcus joined the United States Marine Corps, and reached the rank of sergeant before the events of the campaign. Griggs would become a member of the Demon Dogs, and later its leader under the call sign, "Demon 1-2". According to his in-game bio, he is beloved in the Marine Corps, and his charisma and abilities motivated and inspire troops during the heat of battle. By 2019, Griggs and the Demon Dogs were sent to Urzikstan to fight against the Al-Qatala, an anarchist terrorist organization under the leadership of Omar "The Wolf" Sulaman.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare[]

In late 2019, Demon Dogs were tasked with assisting CIA agent "Alex" with apprehending The Wolf, and Griggs met the agent and the Urzikstan Liberation Force leaders, Farah and Hadir Karim. Sergeant Griggs led "Alex" and his unit against Al-Qatala forces and their grenade wire traps, which led them to a hospital where The Wolf was hiding. After dealing with the forces in wings of the building, Griggs, "Alex", and his team discovered The Wolf with three insurgents who were preparing to execute three captured Marines. The group succeed in stopping the execution, and Griggs apprehended The Wolf so he could be taken to the U.S. Embassy. Though The Wolf was apprehended, the Al-Qatala succeeded in rescuing their leader, but he was later killed by either "Alex" or Farah when they confronted him in his den.

Call of Duty: Warzone[]

Sergeant Griggs appears as a playable operative in Call of Duty: Warzone, where is a member of the Demon Dogs under the Coalition, and formerly the Armistice before the group disbanded. He was released during the season six content alongside Farah Karim and Nikolai, appearing in the "Sgt. Griggs Operator Bundle". He was previously the announcer for the Demon Dogs before he was replaced by the UK team leader.

In the Warzone storyline, Griggs is heard awaiting for Captain Price's go to stop Viktor Zakhaev from launching a missile from the silo in Verdansk. Captain Price succeeds in doing so, killing Zakhaev and stopping the launch before preparing to re-group with Johnny "Soap" MacTavish with Task Force 141.

He was originally the announcer for the Demon Dogs unit of the Coalition, but was replaced by the UK team leader. However, his lines are used in the classic special ops.
His appearance is based off of his original sub-series counterpart and the actor, Mark Grigsby.
