Marcus Kane is the main protagonist of the dark fantasy vehicular combat Twisted Metal franchise. The alter-ego and human counterpart of Sweet Tooth, Marcus is a tragic figure who struggled in his mental battle against his evil self, trapped in a fight that goes on forever as the series goes on. He is the driver of Roadkill and Minion in Black.

Marcus mark his debut as the racer of Roadkill in Twisted Metal 2.

History

Twisted Metal 2

The only sane man to figure out that the entire competition is a twisted nightmare, Kane did all he can in order to free himself, to win his chance to escape and truly return to the real world once again. Enduring all the nightmare that was once brought on him, he managed to gain his dream to exits from the nightmare as he is reunited with his family within the hospital.

Despite not remembering the entire competition, Kane was happy that everything ended.

Twisted Metal Black

The true indentity of Sweet Tooth, Kane is locked within his own mind in torture along with several racers. He was the only one to be aware that none of them are real but a fragment of his own mind, while he is the only "real" one that was chained beyond escape. Marcus remain in hiding as he keep showing several clues and coded-messages to others in hope that one day they all might return to the real world again.

Twisted Metal Head-On

Returning as one of the main contestants of the annual Twisted Metal, Kane becomes a grumpy and angry man. Remember only vague details of his past, Kane decides to finally complete the events in hope that he might escape from his nightmare. Kane wakes up in his home after his wish, eventually started being a little confused about why Calypso called him "Needles" before then turning into the clown himself.

In Dark Tooth, Kane fought to free himself from Sweet's control as the two splitted into two person individually before joining forces with one another to discover the mayhem that lay's unravel.

Vehicle

• In both 2 and Head-On, Marcus drives the Roadkill as his primary vehicle (John Doe succeeded him in "Black").
• Exclusively in Black, he takes on the Minion as his vehicle.

Personality

Marcus personality is somewhat inconsistent, in 2, he appears as a desperate and broken man who just wishes to finally free himself. This remain as his main motivation through out several installments of the franchise (excluding 3) before he was merged as the true indentity of Sweet Tooth. In Black, Marcus shows himself to be a fearful figure who is tortured due to him being locked from controlling his body. He cares about the other races well-being even if they are just a fragment of his mind, often noting them that they all might return to the real world one day.

Head-On have him being more angry and stubborn, but was due to his amnesia. He was still coperating and is determined to free himself from Tooth's control.

• Bob Ayres potrayed him in Twisted Metal 2 and return to the series as Preacher in Black.

• Paul Vinson potrayed him in the live actions cutscenes.

• Marcus inheration in 2012 serve him as the true indentity of Sweet Tooth's once again, who was an ice-cream delivery man who struggled to battle his inner rage. But unlike his main counterpart, Marcus was completely erased and never was able to survive in a way like his main counterpart.
