This article looks like it needs to be 20% cooler with at least an image. It would be lame otherwise.

~ Marcus Reed

Marcus Reed is the main protagonist of the 2005 video game, True Crime: New York City.

History

Background

Marcus Reed is the son of New York gang kingpin Isaiah Reed. When Marcus was 18, Isaiah was arrested, leaving Marcus in charge of his father's gang.

On Christmas 2000, Marcus and Isaiah were shanked by a guard who was working for Kev Lar. Marcus then drove to Kev's apartment and killed a bunch of his men before cornering Kev in the basement and killing him. One of Kev's surviving soldiers tried to kill Marcus, but was shot in the head by Terry, who recieved a call about Isaiah getting shanked in prison.

Terry agreed to cover up the killings, but he also told Marcus to get his life together. As a result, Marcus left his life of crime and went to become a police officer for the P.D.N.Y..

True Crime: New York City

Five years later, Reed gets promoted to the P.D.N.Y.'s Organized Crime Unit (OCU) under Terry's wing. After being taught the ropes and paying a visit to his father, Marcus was ordered by Terry to take him to an old building. Once there, Terry told him that he wanted to deliver some info to the FBI. However, as soon as Terry walked in, the building exploded. Shortly afterwards, Marcus was demoted back to beat cop.

Later, Marcus met FBI agent Gabriel Whitting, who explains that Terry had evidence on a mole within the P.D.N.Y.. He also mentions that the mole had connections to four criminal organizations in New York City: The Magdalena Cartel, the Palermo Mob, the President's Club, and the Shadow Tong.

Marcus' first target was the Magdalenas, a drug cartel that is believed to be responsible for 75% of New York's cocaine trade. After infiltrating the cartel and interrogating their leader, she reveals that the mole was someone within the OCU.

Marcus then went after the Palermo Mob, which was remerging after the last don was arrested a decade prior. After eventually cornering Vincent Tuzzi at a construction site, the don tells Marcus that the deals between him and the mole were done over the phone, and that the mole spoke with a Spanish accent.

Next, Marcus went after the President's Club, which was led by five "presidents", Lincoln, Hamilton, Jackson, Grant, and Benjamin. He also discovered that the club was at war with the Japanese Yakuza. After fighting Lionel Jones, the gang leader reveals that the mole went by an alias, "El Jefe."

Finally, Marcus tracked down the Shadow Tong, a Triad gang led by Leeland Shen. After battling Shen in a subway tunnel, Shen tells Marcus that El Jefe is going to collect his money from a locker in Grand Central Station numbered 125. Thinking that Navarro was the mole, Marcus gave Whitting a call and told him to meet at the station.
