Miles: I'm Spider-Man.
Margo: Oh, no way! All of us are.
~ Margo meeting Miles

Margo Kess, also known as Spider-Byte, is a character in Sony Pictures Animation's 24th full length feature film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and will return in its upcoming sequel Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

She is a cyber version of Spider-Man from an alternate universe inside a virtual world. She operated the Go-Home machine at the Spider-Society before quitting once joining Gwen's team to save Miles.

She is voiced by Amandla Stenberg, who also voiced Bia in Rio 2 and portrayed Osha Aniseya in Star Wars: The Acolyte.

History[]

Across the Spider-Verse[]

Margo was recruited by Miguel O'Hara to join his Spider-Society. She became one of the operators of the Go-Home-Machine with LYLA. One day, Margo would meet Miles Morales and quickly befriended him. Miles would attempt to hit on Margo as he had thought Gwen and Hobie had a thing. Overtaken by jealousy, Gwen pulled Miles away with her web as Miles said goodbye to Margo.

As the Society chased Miles, Margo stayed behind to watch the machine. However, when Miles started the machine up, Margo tried to stop it until she saw her friend inside it. Margo became conflicted until she ultimately decided to let Miles go back to his home universe (though the machine actually ends up mistakenly sending Miles to the wrong universe). After Miles left, Margo began to question the Spider-Society, especially when Miguel kicked Gwen out and sent her back to her universe. Margo decided to quit the Spider-Society and join the Spider-Gang to help save Miles, as well as stop the Spot from destroying the Multiverse.

Personality[]

Margo is shown to be very tech-savvy, and shows an extensive amount of knowledge surrounding technology. she is able to be at the society via VR and is in charge of bringing variants of villains back to their own dimensions via the Go-Home-Machine. Margo is also a very intelligent individual, while also having a more sarcastic side to her, such as when she first encounters Miles.

While she was apart of the Spider-Society, and was trying to stop the Go-Home-Machine from sending Miles home, when she found out that he was in there, she let him escape, proving that she has a good heart.

Powers and abilities[]

Technological Prowess: Being one of the main operators of the Go-Home-Machine and many other technological devices, Margo has shown to have experience with electronics.

Spider-Sense: Like the other Spider-People, Margo possesses a sixth sense known as Spider-Sense, which activates when there is danger or another Spider-Person is nearby. This helps her detect threats with ease and gives her near full awareness of her surroundings.

Limb-Stretching: Unlike the other Spider-People, Margo does not possess webshooters of her own. Instead, she extends her arms to inhuman lengths to travel distances quickly and capture villains.
