Marguerite is a former antagonist turned heroine in the Amazon Lily Arc from the anime and manga series One Piece. She was a member of the Kuja Tribe, who live in the island of Amazon Lily. She along with Aphelandra and Sweet Pea, rescued Luffy after he ate poisonous mushrooms that infected his body and sprouted all over. After the timeskip, she became a member of the Kuja Pirates.
After Boa Hancock lost her status as a Warlord, Marguerite and the Kuja went to war against the Marines and Blackbeard Pirates. She and the other Kuja were attacked by the latest Pacifista that looked just like Hancock (when she was a kid). Fortunately, Marguerite, Hancock and the other Kujas were saved by Silvers Rayleigh and Shakuyaku (the previous empress of Amazon Lily who is one of Hancock's predecessors). Despite the Marines and the Blackbeard Pirates retreating, Maguerite and the other Kuja lives would still be endangered as long as their ruler, Hancock stayed in Amazon Lily due to the Marines' persistent attempts to arrest her at all costs. She and the rest of the Kuja Tribe are under the protection of Rayleigh and ex-empress Shakuyaku while Hancock decided to leave Amazon Lily for her quest to search and reunite with Luffy in order to provide her own safety.
She was voiced by Masumi Asano in the Japanese version and Whitney Rodgers in English.
Appearance[]
Marguerite is a young woman with fair skin and average height. She has yellow blonde hair that is slightly unkempt and messy, slender legs, a slim, curvaceous figure, and black eyes. Like all her Kuja tribe members, she wears a brown revealing bikini top and a brown and black miniskirt, both made from animal skin, which shows off her long legs and cleavage. She also sports a white cape, which resembles a Marine jacket. She has a green and black snake as a pet and it can usually be seen wrapped around her waist like a belt, though it can detach at any time and can be used as a bow. She also wears a singular black and white striped legging on her right leg, and wears dark brown high heeled boots.
Personality[]
Like her fellow Kuja, Marguerite is forbidden to develop any sort of feelings towards men, including Luffy. She seen to developed for interest at Luffy's "Kintama" (the Japanese slang term for using a male testicle literally translates to "Golden ball(s)", in the English dub as "family jewels"), after he took his clothes off, as do a lot of other Kuja.
It happens that her naïveté and misunderstanding caused her to believe that Luffy was referring to his "Family Jewels" in a literal sense. She usually refuses to accept any kind of relationship to Luffy at first, calling her feelings "useless". Eventually, she did end up forming a friendship with the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, as she tried to prevent his execution, even against the wishes from her fellow Kuja.
Despite her origin in the Kuja tribe, she started taking care of and respecting Luffy during the Amazon Lily Arc.
Marguerite refers to her leader, Boa Hancock, as "the most beautiful woman in the world", and is seen admiring her and not holding a grudge against her after trying to execute Luffy.
She is also is honest and caring about Luffy, who she was trying to take full blame for his presence in Amazon Lily, along with Aphelandra and Sweet Pea, who tried to shift the blame to themselves to protect their companion.
Abilities and Powers[]
Marguerite debuted as a talented seamstress, when she not only completely remade Luffy's clothes, but also added the frills and a floral pattern to the vest, as she thought it was appropriate Kuja attire.
As seen when pursuing Luffy, Marguerite is a skilled archer, using her snake bow to shoot arrows at Luffy with stunning accuracy (though none hit him).
She knows how to swim as seen when she rescued Luffy from drowning. She managed to save him from the Sea Kings in the Calm Belt, where Amazon Lily is located.
She also accompanied Boa Hancock on the Kuja pirate ship for two years, as she is one of the strongest warriors on Amazon Lily. She expressed great joy for the opportunity to join her leader on her ship.

- At times, it seems as though Maguerite has feelings slightly stronger than friendship for Luffy, but doesn't pursue them, due to both being content as his friend and perhaps more vitally is deferring to her Snake Empress, as Hancock has feelings that cross well into love.
