Maria is the deuteragonist of the 2023 horror film Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, a horror adaptation of the Winnie-the-Pooh books by A. A. Milne and E. H. Shepard, and the first installment of the Twisted Childhood Universe.
She is a young woman who goes on a vacation with her friends to the Hundred Acre Wood after a personal trauma, and is hunted by the violent crossbreeds who reside there.
She was portrayed by Maria Taylor.
Biography[]
Maria was a normal college student who began having issues with a stalker who would creep around her home at night. One night she caught him looking into one of her windows, and another night he broke in, with Maria waking up to find him trying to undress her in her sleep. The man was arrested, but Maria was traumatized and began seeing a therapist.
After a few months, her therapist recommends a vacation away with friends. Maria agrees and plans a trip with her college friends Jessica, Alice, Zoe, Lara, and Tina. After getting directions from a kind man named Logan, the group meets at the house except for Tina, who has lost her way. She is found by Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet, animal crossbreeds that grew an intense hatred of humans after being seemingly abandoned by their one human friend, Christopher Robin. Pooh chases Tina down and kills her in a woodchipper.
At the vacation house, Maria shared her trauma with her friends, earning their support. However, that night, Pooh and Piglet track them down and murder Lara. Maria and the others see the crossbreeds attempting to get into the house and go to arm themselves. Maria retrieves a handgun that she got after her experience with the stalker, and she and Jessica try to evade Pooh. However, Piglet catches up to Alice and Zoe, killing Zoe with a sledgehammer and kidnapping Alice. Refusing to leave their friend to die, Maria and Jessica follow them to their hideout in the Wood.
After arriving, they find Alice tied to a table and free her, and soon find Christopher Robin bound in a shed. They hear screams and follow them to find another victim named Charlene, who is now disfigured and hysterical. She takes Maria's gun and goes to find Piglet, seeking revenge, but Pooh and Piglet get the upper hand and kill her. Maria and Jessica flee with Pooh in pursuit, and Alice is able to overpower Piglet and kill him with his own sledgehammer. Pooh, enraged, returns and kills Alice before chasing Maria and Jessica again.
Maria and Jessica make it to the road, where they wave down a car with four men, one of them being Logan, inside. The women get into the car as the men confront Pooh, who kills them all. Maria and Jessica try to drive over Pooh and escape, but he holds onto the car and climbs on top. Maria hits the brakes to throw him off, slamming herself into the wheel and knocking herself out. She wakes to see Jessica being pulled out of the car by Pooh, who decapitates her and throws the head on the hood of the car. As Pooh tries to come at Maria, Christopher Robin appears in a car and crashes it, pinning Pooh between the two vehicles. He helps Maria and the two try to escape, but Pooh is revealed to still be alive and frees himself, grabbing Maria and holding a knife to her throat. Christopher pleads with Pooh to spare her, thankful that she tried to save him, and offers his life in exchange. Pooh breaks his vow of silence to tell Christopher "You left." before slitting Maria's throat. Christopher comforts Maria as she dies, then runs into the Woods. Pooh lets Christopher go, opting instead to continue stabbing Maria's body instead of chasing his former friend.
Personality[]
Maria is a seemingly normal woman who has been shaken by trauma, having dealt with a perverted stalker. However, she attempts to overcome this by seeking the help of therapy and the support of her friends, being an advocate for self-healing. When her friends are killed, she greatly mourns them, and when they are in danger, she is steadfast and refuses to leave anyone behind, even at the cost of her own safety.
